I have one and it is so alive, you can make such a chaotic noise with just turning few knobs. It is one of the least appreciate synths and yet it has its own sound and character.
I've had this thing sitting in my closet for years. Only touched it a bit when I first bought it, as I was new to synths and synthesis. Pulled it out maybe 4 years later, after using massive, serum, microbrute, and others and i love it. The learning curve is not hard, but confusing. Pretty cool, fun synth to just experiment with for hours and make your productions sound a bit different with these older patches, that still hold up as a digital synth. I think the software is essential to use in conjunction with the synth, much easier to mess with and comfortable than the hardware... Thanks for the vid.
Thanks man, even doing this video I had to chop out about 5 minutes of "what the???" time... haha yeah it's a challenging one but very rewarding if you like a hard edge.
It's worth mentioning that this isn't like an analog synth where you can simply screw around with the knobs and see what happens . the synthesis is much more complex - think Yamaha DX - luckily there is an application for editing over a PC, which is highly recommended for editing sounds - without it, you may as well go design a new wheel. And although some have mentioned it's nice to see an M-Audio unit that doesn't need a computer, one of the other gifts in this synth is it's on-board USB Audio interface, so that you can use this as an ideal parallel controller for VSTi virtual synths, whose output will then mix with the Venom's Synth! Granted, the factory sounds are far too EDM for me, there's a lot more here to be dug out if you take the time.
Creo que solo se puede cambiar en el software. Sin embargo, si va a los sonidos individuales (no múltiples), la inflexión de tono debería funcionar normalmente para esos sonidos.
Yeah they are very cheap now. I'm going to do another video about it as I've learned more since making this tutorial. It really is a pain to use, but the presets are just sooo good and so numerous that editing really isn't that much of a need. And the percussion is very unique and sounds excellent. Great value board :) Gearfacts
Can you help me please , i whant to know how to make a loop with a bass en putt a klap or hi hat .. and then just play live in the loop i made (without pc ) .. or record something you play , and then play over with other instrument ?
Hello, The part of the video that you edit, please tell me how do I get back to the original sound on the single mode program, once I stored a new one that I didn't like, without having to do a full restore of corse?
I remember when this was first being marketed we were all told how edgy and cool it is... I even remember the designer saying something at NAMM 2011 that they like the sound of aliasing!! Seriously? I hate aliasing in synthesizers. The implementation on this was terrible the editor sucked. To me the only saving grace was that it was an audio interface and it had some good drum samples but other than that there's no way it was worth the 599 USD it went for at release. Now days though you can pick one up for about a 150 USD and that's about where it should be in my opinion :)
Yep it's on my list of devices that could have been awesome but implementation let them down. The Venom was a baffling ordeal to use but I really did like the sounds. i don't know what aliasing is, I have to admit. Thanks for watching Gearfacts and thanks for the comment :)
Scott Beckstead Hey thanks man, yeah I put a lot of time into getting it just right, usually with triangular miking and carefully positioned sound boards. Hours of work but it’s worth it. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Gearfacts Your demo is excellent and I definitely appreciate it! In no way did I mean that as a criticism. The volume seems a bit low...but I think it's my headphones, they are old. Do you like this synth for a budget/entry level synth?
@@RichyMcFly I was considering it also but, it seems to get "crunchy", with tweaking the sounds. I did like the first ones but, as he continued I was like nope.
@@gearfacts Reasonable ) If we do not talk about super-expensive models, but just about the same Korg . Roland , then of course he loses . I could compare its sound with the same Novation Ultranova .
@@sergio4642 hmmmm yeah I can see a slight similarity there. I still think that if you are looking for a heavy, raw sound, the Venom is the best synth you can get for under $1000. Maybe this recording didn't show how gutsy it really is. It's a definite "type" of sound though - I mean, it'd be useless for a pop musician.
Nope, that's not how you give criticism. You do it with a positive, then the negative, then finish with a positive. So: Praise first for making the effort to help others, then criticism (something like "If I can make a suggestion..." sounds good), then finish with something casual and friendly, like a pleasant salutation. This is communication 101, following this time-honored method will leave you with a much more agreeable online footprint.

Fell in love with the first beastly sound, sounds amazing.

Hi Dave, yeah there are love/hate camps emerging around this synth. I found it inspiring too. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Great review! You really brought out some real world challenges it has, as well as some of the good performance features it has.

I've reviewed hundreds on things, and this is one of only 3 or 4 "keepers" :)
I learnt a few things about this synth. I've had my Venom ages and have hardly dug into it.
Love it. Cheap, simple and very expressive :)
Funny this just came out in 2017. And I'm still learning how to use this keyboard.
Well it got released a few years back, maybe 2013 something like that. It's going to be a competitor for a long time though. Gearfacts
2011,,, release date. Died out 2014. The editor is daunting, but,, the wave forms are plenty. ❤️❤️🌶
No i find the software editor (is that what you're talking about?) quite easy to use.

Use this with Arturia'a Keystep...way cool!
I don't doubt it! :) GF

Can't do much of that on this synth. The only loops are the drum beats, and it has no ability to record.

Hi Thiago, as far as I know there is no going back once you have hit that 'store' button. Full reset is the only way to retrieve. Gearfacts
Thanks my friend, another thing, to route instruments or voice trough the filters, only by softwear ?
Sure, here's my video about how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/sY9dWee25BQ/v-deo.html

Do you know how you change the split point on the keyboard in multi mode? For example i want my left sound to end on the f note, not on the b.
I don't, but I'll look into it :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts ok, i hope you find the solution! Thanks in advance!
