As a moonguard player, this video genuinely makes me so happy. I'm a part of the more casual silly roleplay that goes on and while it is fun to joke about Goldshire and The Horrors, it's kinda frustrating when that's all we're known for. So, to have someone who talks about it and actually looks at it for what it is, it's refreshing
as someone who prefers to also just do casual rp and stuff I also hate Goldshire specifically because that's all anyone thinks goes on in Moonguard. Moonguard is a nice server. People are great, but we're all bunched in with the weirdo's and bots and scum.
as someone who transfered years ago to join a friend on MG and keeps falling out of WoW, staying on MG is o e of the reasons I do return. being able to see hear and sometimes join in on all the small event RP just happening everywhere that is not goldshire is just great fun. and also remember just sitting in the Shire laughing and reading people's profiles in the inn. the sheer number of strange in the inn alone lol. it's kinda silly that it's only the adults idea people focus on when so many that were in the inn had actual character reason lore or background story to be there.
Having played on MG for many years after Goldshire became famous, can confirm that it's just tourists. Blaming MG as a whole is like saying the Dutch are all horny maniacs based on Amsterdam's red light district. Or that Hawaiian residents all wear grass skirts and dance wherever they go. Or that people in Italy all speak english, just because the ones working with tourists do.

I'm on the Argent Dawn-EU server. We're currently on a campaign using Deepholm as an out-of-character location and fighting through a Nerubian cave system as a pre-lude to the War Within expansion!
the way you interpret the role you play in this game is diferent to the way "most of the playerbase" inteprets their role that they play (in this game) and neither is wrong.
Moonguard is the Best Server for the Alliance in terms of RP, and just overall making the World feel alive with players being around small towns, abandoned cities, and more.
@@biosyn-ab4261 Yeah, not saying it's better or as good as MG. Just stating in the case of what realm is the closest to population, level of RP, etc. That has the highest population/is majority Horde populated, that would be Wyrmrest Accord. Haven't played on MG myself, atleast no time that I can recall, so I can't speak on it comparatively more than just the statistics that it's the largest RP server that is primarily Horde. Thanks for sharing your perspective though, if all my Alliance weren't already in a different server (DaggerSpine) I would probably have them on MG.
whats with all the players standing inside of the inn at elwynn forest? almost makes me feel theyre real life npcs or bots, only a few talking and moving in and outside of that place
Greetings from Wyrmrest Accord! Hello my MG cousins! I play a ghost who rides through Duskwood every night. It ain't much, but it's honest work! Wyrmrest Alliance is alive!
Heya six! It’s Luna here! Great video, it was a fun watch! Now, seeing as you asked: I, unlike a lot of players who play WoW, am a new player. I started my WoW journey with DF on patch 10.0.5. Within the first week of getting the game, I joined (Then or The Gilnean Concord). Words cannot express how happy I am that I did. In the just over a year I started playing and joined the guild, I’ve played out so many awesome stories between characters, events, and campaigns! I’ve met so many great people and made so many friends…honestly it’s kinda unreal. As a brand new WoW player (compared to some of you vanilla players haha) I can say WoW RP is what has kept me so invested in the game word and the lore, kept me so immersed into it. I hope to continue to be so immersed and part of the community for many years to come!
Hi Six! Fellow Moon Guard RPer here! I'm 26 and I've been playing WoW since I was 6, it's insane, I know. I did not start RPing until 2019 because I got very aggravated at content and saw a video of Asmon visiting MG Stormwind and reading TRPs. I had been writing little stories for years and I was obsessed with WoW lore and gave it a try. I joined a guild within the first two days! You know what is crazier? Those guildies? 5 of them legitimately became friends for life and when the pandemic hit? We are all there for each other. WoW RP has given me so much confidence and an outlet, I've met some of the best people. Thank you for making a video about the GOOD of Moon Guard, not a video highlighting Goldshire. Much love
I used to be on Kirin Tor RP when I was a kid, from 2004-2014. I think it’s a pretty dead server now, but it had a lot of really cool people way way back.
Jack Reed from here! Great video, really highlighting what makes this server such an awesome place to be. Thanks for making this and showing that there's much, much more to the server than what people think. We're glad to have you on board!
'A History of Moon Guard' would be such an interesting series. I used to play on Moon Guard until Horde ended up dying out around Warlords of Draenor. I started in around 2008, and the HUGE RP-PvP campaigns used to be some of the coolest storytelling I've ever gotten to roleplay. Hundreds of players in a storied campaign of Alliance versus Horde in a myriad of different locales. Whether it be the battle in Southern Barrens between Fort Triumph and Desolation Hold, the Dalaran Incursion where we fought to liberate the Sunreavers that one time Jaina went crazy, or the several campaigns that took place in Arathi Highlands; the sense of community in these multi-guild events were amazing. That's not to mention we used to have the Tournament of Ages (not sure if they still have it, I know Wyrmrest does the 'Tournament of the Wyrm'), where everyone used to get together at the Argent Tournament Grounds and participate in duel competitions, pet battle brackets, jousting. It's a special place, with people from all walks of life. I still occasionally pop over, just to lament over how empty Silvermoon and Orgrimmar are since those used to be the big roleplaying hubs for everyone except the half dozen or so big Forsaken guilds. But it'll always be the server I grew up on, learned a lot of valuable life lessons on, and made some of the longest standing friends I still talk to almost two decades later.
I don't really RP, but all of my characters are on MG. It's nice to just sit in Stormwind and enjoy the ambiance of the RP around you when you're just hanging out. I also like reading peoples TRP (even though I don't even have one myself), and I enjoy being a background character watching major events (like the World Faire Carnival)
Back when Moon Guard launched, Alliance Side, the best RPers were invited to regroup on the new server. So we flocked there. Thats why it has the reputation it does.
This video is great! I'm on AD-EU and sort of grimaced when I saw the title, expecting it to bash RP and RP realms but this video is so positive and true to the experience! Thank you for sharing your experiences and I hope you continue to have fun!!
Glad you enjoyed the video! And thank you for the tip! When I set out to make this video, I wanted to dispel the ‘myth’ of RP realms, so I titled it with the intent for Non-RPers to watch it It makes me happy to hear you feel like I represented the RP community well :)
Love seeing the newer WoW content creators lately. I moved over to Moon Guard back in the MoP days due to the game just feeling more lively there but only recently been trying to actually partake in RP. Loved the video!
This server is what made me fall in love with the game again. I was getting a little burned out towards the middle of BfA and made a toon on MG to try out RP (big D&D fan). The moment I stepped into Stormwind City, I knew it was something special. It didn't take long for me to move my main from Dalaran and really immerse myself in the RP side of WoW. More than 5 years of RP later, and I can honestly say I wouldn't enjoy WoW as much as I do today, if it wasn't for this server.
I was on Wyrmrest Accord, the "one other major rp server", during shadowlands when I peaced out for a while. However upon returning to the game for Dragonflight, I found that the alliance-side rp on the server pretty much crumbled and most the population jumped ship to Moon Guard. T'was a major bummer.
The firework show they put on is amazing!! I love that you featured it! Moonguard is incredible esp when you have the Total Roleplay 3 addon because of how customizable it is! I've read so many people's profiles and everyone is so creative! Thanks for the kind feature here, I loved it!
Hey Sixten, Moon Guard RPer here. Just wanted to thank you for portraying us in a better light. There is some really great stuff... alongside all the folks who just want ERP. Appreciate you and your videos!
Guild master of Argent Crusade here on Moon Guard, Thank you for this video! More people need to come over and join in on the fun. If your new to RP dont worry, people love to help new people and will even let you know about everything you need to get started.
As someone who started playing on Moonguard, every other realm feels dead to me. I couldn’t imagine ever playing on any other realm, it’s just not WoW.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the summer, and the Tournament of Ages! It’s basically a giant weeklong party the entire server goes to. Genuinely an amazing experience.
As a Moon Guard player I'd like to extend a welcome. This is one of the most welcoming realms in the game. Make a character, come up with a backstory, and for the love of all that is sane stay out of the Lion's Pride Inn.
I have been love just walking in Stormwind late at night and seeing people talking and hanging out, it makes the place feel real. RP servers make the world feel alive, like normal server never could!
Just found this video in my recommended, and as a player (and moderate RP player) of moonguard, it is just sad that all people see from moonguard is it's "worst" while it does great events that not only for fun but for charity and no one wants to participate because of that one bad apple, I'm glad you came to it and Welcome! Take my sub you cheerful gilnean you :)
I switched to MoonGuard sometime last year and I've never been happier. Most of the people in the realm are super chill and super happy to be helped. I have cried so many times simply because people are genuinely respectful and enjoy meeting new people. Of course, you have Goldshire and a few bad eggs, but it's impossible to get rid of them all. The mage quarter and lion's rest are always bustling with people, usually people you've met, but also tons of new characters too! Coming from a PvP realm, MoonGuard is SUCH a breath of fresh air. The roleplayers have welcomed my "special" characters, and I'm slowly learning to be more open with people because of it. I have a Dracthyr (pfp + name!) who is a mix of Stormdrakes and has fleshed out lore. I've never felt like I've had to change him because of how inclusive the roleplayers are. Recently, I developed a Wolfs Rain inspired character named Itami (you'd be surprised how many people actually DID watch that anime), and I actually haven't had anybody call me cringe, compared to when going to LFR for roleplays. I also made a Sethrak named Sulthek who is learning about Stormwind and the history of Azeroth after being separated from it all for so long. Hoping to bring in other Sethraks as well as maybe inspire Blizzard to give us the noodle bois. Honestly, even if you're not a roleplayer, MoonGuard is... surprisingly tame and open. There are plenty of groups and guilds who run keys and current content or PvP. I haven't been in these guilds myself, but I really don't ever hear any negativity about the popular guilds that you'll see having in character recruiting in the cathedral district! The only downside is I have heard that the Horde part of MoonGuard is pretty dry, both in roleplayers and people that run raids and other. I could be wrong though, as I don't play Horde much myself. MoonGuard has breathed life back into my gameplay, something Blizzard couldn't do. I'm paying for my 2nd month in a row and will likely shoot for 3rd when the time comes!
Horde side began to fall off with the introduction of the void elves. Now it's a shadow of what it once was, even for its equivalent of goldshire (farstrider inn in silvermoon)
Well, I kinda saw me in the clip about the Fireworks show. I know it was me because of the anchor. Great video! Thank you so much for making it. I love Moon Guard. You can find RP around pretty much any corner. And there are so many organized RP events every day!
I play on moon guard solely to have the game feel more alive. I just raid and do M+ every once in awhile but it's still fun to see all the interesting things that happen on the realm.
Welcome to moonguard man! Been playing on the server since Late Mists and it's been one of my favorite homes to date. Your videos popping up into my feed have been a breath of fresh air to see new people come into the community. Hopefully we cross paths and I could spin some stories with you!
It's so cool to have you in our guild! I hope to see you at many events! Elianna Medinus here! Your local Harvest Moon Oracle! Keep up the amazing work with your videos! ❤
Hi! Navataai here from one of the people who side work with the Gnews (I do the music there usually!) at Gnine! (9pm Server Time) at the south fountain at Lion's Rest, Stormwind! Your review over the Moon Guard server is surprisingly refreshing. :) also side promo: I will recommend people that are new to check out Gnews announcements at around 9pm server time, they typically do announcements for open RP events to check out! Very recommend for new people to check out and just chill. Also shoutout to Dreyfusxano for his comedy improv events on Friday Nights! Definitely a place for new people to check out for those that are nervous about interacting.
From Argent Dawn, To Wyrmwrest, and Moonguard finally being the resting spot for the community, it really does make me smile to see folks talking about the small events inbetween of the world behind the joke of Goldshire. It's really always hid a real gem in the rough.
@@gumloproductions They're probably referring to Argent Dawn-US, which, well, is dead, and was merged with the equally dead realm The Scryers-US years ago.
Both from the pov of a moonguard player and a rper this was a great video. Rp in wow in general I feel is far too often diminished and underappreciated
I started RP in SoD. It was so much fun I wanted to join an RP realm in retail and was heavily advised to join Mooguard. It has been so much fun meeting people and getting into different stories, shopping at RP markets. It's amazing how creative the members can be to have an immersive experience. I highly recommend this server for the most active Alliance RP.
RP communities in WoW are something else man... Growing up, i learned from my dad to avoid them for being weird. "Ugh. Its those RPers." Few years back though, i found a tiny little private server made by and for roleplayers. And they went hard man... they added quests, new NPCs, expanded on zones, and the population was about 500 people. Guild houses were a thing, with tabards to port you there, out in the world. Finding them while questing was always a treat, and little easter eggs were hidden around the world. 2 of my characters still have the cloak i got from Denaeris above the waterfall in elwynn. I remember trying to convince a buncy of folks to kill her dragon and everyone dying lol. The nicest, hands down, NICEST community of people ive ever met in warcraft. And not once did i run into the weirdos, you know the ones. It felt like finding a really cool place in the woods as a kid while playing with your friends. A secret little hangout thats just for you. Some cozy anime "secret base" type feeling. Over time the population went up, to 800, then 1k, 1.2k, 1.6k and that was great. Just under 2k had the place feeling alive and there was always someone to do a quest with. But good things dont last. Like going to your special hangout in the woods only to find a large group of high school kids having a party there. Trashing your stuff, drinking, and leaving trash everywhere. I went back to find _streamers_ had got wind of it. The population hit 5k, and the RPers became the minority on their own server. You had the toxic pvp types running around, the PVE types AOE farming and solo playing, competing for kills and loot. And when the chinese came... it was over. 12k players, queues of 5 to 6k every day. The RP guilds got choked out of their own server, dying because they couldnt log in during their scheduled event times. My own guild i had joined, lost many of its core members to the frustration and hopelessness of it all. You couldn't communicate with the chinese, and they would group up to spawn camp mobs and resources. Everytime i found a place that they werent, theyd show up in droves within a few minutes, as if i were living a sitcom. And as the RP guilds died off and the original community tried to make their voice heard, the tsunami of new players attempted to gatekeep them out. "Its not an RP server, it never was" was a line i heard often from these new people. The server was doing gangbusters too. New mods and developers came in, and catered to the new players. The RPers were forgotten, and lost all representation in the moderator and dev team when those members left. Soon the new population started demanding that guild houses be removed for being "unfair". And that RP spots be changed or removed too. People trying to RP wouod regularly get harassed by the new players, and had no recourse at all for it. That was my first experience with WoW RP, and i wont easily forget how awesome those folks were. But you can never really go back home i guess. 3 months after making this comment, I feel the need to update it. It's been a long and hard road since all these events happened, and the RP community has clawed its way back to life. Dare I even say, it's not merely surviving, but alive and well again. The server's name was purposely left out of this comment, but given the recent waves it's made with it's announcement to port WoW to unreal 5, trying to keep it a secret is pretty pointless The server is called Turtle WoW
Made a toon on Moon Guard when coming back to the game as an adult. Never knew it had this reputation, but I will say that I consistently meet nice and amazing people, and the guild I’m in is so helpful supportive inclusive and just all around great people!!
When I first started in Moongarde, my first interaction was someone passing out flowers in stormwinds courtyard. Ever since, I try to bring that same kindness to strangers whenever I meet someone new. I really do love this realm!
New Moon Guard denizen here! Transferred a few months ago to raid and I plan on staying here forever. I've had my other (rarely played) alliance alts here for years, it's always felt like there's no better place for casual content. Why park your characters on some random realm where people just clock in and clock out between keys, when even if you don't RP you could just people watch, strike up random conversation in /s, or attend events? I get more out of it than just that myself, especially now that I live here, but It's drastically improved my experience of the game so much in ways that I don't think anything else could have. Make an alt here, even if just for the spectacle! See for yourself that it's more than just the 15+ year old memes of being the ERP server.
Nothing better then staying up at ungodly hours of the night in Goldshire, met so many cool people to talk to and have a genuine conversation with and make a friend, sit around a campfire with other groups of people and just chill.
Roleplay is the only reason I still play, this game has a community of roleplayers like no other has. Its always so beatifull to run into other roleplayers on the road or have a stroll in SW and hang out with people. Its a feeling no game ever came close to giving the sensation for me
I am a MG member. Moved ALL characters there once I fell in love with the server as a whole. It is so active and amazing, with a lore rich community :D
the kingdom of gil was guild is so cool, our guild, the valdrakken accord, works with them on events sometimes and it’s awesome. thanks for coming to our server to check it out! we appreciate someone coming in and giving an accurate representation of our server !!!
I'm a Moonguard player, and I gotta say it is a nice place to be. I sadly haven't RPed in years due to sad reasons, but I've got so many good memories and made some life long friends from it. Its also nice to just mingle in listen in on stories go on around you. I RP a worgen druid and a worgen DK mainly, and they're a family. (The druid being the son to the DK) Also Gilneas ftw!
I've played on moonguard for well over 6 years at this point I'm not much of a roleplayer but some of my most fond memories in the game was on this server you'll find a mix of people who are just having fun and have silly little backstories and on the other side of the spectrum you'll find people with the most edgy "I killed the lich king" backstory ever. overall there's never a dull moment in moonguard
Great video! I started playing on MG at the start of Dragonflight, which was also when I started rping. Ive been having a ton of fun rping on my evoker, im glad so many people share the joy i have for MG
There Is not a single Alliance RP or overall server as Argent Dawn EU. You can do anything and quickly...no limits. Didnt need to swap server for ages.
My only interactions with players form Moon Guard are in Mythic+ and Raids, they are always cooperative and friendly, I'll give everything to protect those guys.
I've always been more of a milder RPer, class/race/spec combos, certain appearances, some backstory/character development for each individual toon. But I also am into all the structures gameplay like dungeons, pvp, raids, etc. And its been hard to find a place to feel I fit the mold of, but I will say RP servers definitely have had the higher quantity of nice/helpful individuals. Great video Six, keep it up as always. 🙏🔥🖤
From making friends on all aspects of this server, I've learned majority of the old hardcore ERPers never liked Goldshire and most of them left to play on private servers after Blizzard starting cracking down on TRP reporting. What's left is the bottom of the barrel gooners At this point Goldshire is an eyesore that just lags Elywnn Forest
i played on moonguard for a while... i was really annoying (if anyone remembers Thegan the worgen who would always get injured) but i still kinda miss it and if i ever start playing wow again i'd want to go back
Argent Dawn EU is also a famous RP realm for EU realms. It has its own guilds and storylines. If you could check it out would be nice representation of us too ^^
Shout out to my Argent Dawn (EU) folk! RP is a great part of this game and I love doing it. Thank you for making this video, the more visibility we get then the larger we can make our community ^^.
This video made me SOOO nostalgic from my time playing in Los Errantes (Spanish RP server), of all the stories and campaigns I played there... Ultimately it's something I can't really return to (First, I don't play WoW anymore, second I eventually grew out of it, nowadays I'm all for that traditional TTRPG life to sate the storytelling itch, as well as creative writing), but this reminded me of just how much fun I used to have back then, the different guilds, stories... Perhaps my favourite one was when I played in a Kor'Kron guild at the tail end of Mists of Pandaria, and we rp'd both rebels and garrosh loyalists in alternate sessions, with the guild splitting (only in character of course), and culminating in a special operation alongside many different guilds. Or perhaps the whole "War for the Barrens" event my server did during Cataclysm! So many memories.
4 months later and I am still using this video to introduce people to the idea of Moonguard and RP in general. Thanks for doing such an amazing job with it.
Six, this is an awesome video. I've wanted to RP since 2008 when I started. I'm on an RP server, supposedly, but I don't see much of it going on. I think I'll try Moonguard for my RP and see how it goes. My gnome mage's name will be Rubydew.
I haven't been active in retail in a few years, but as a veteran Moonguard player, and whose partner is the same, you're making us consider coming back lol. From both of us, this vid made us so happy. Thank you so much dude
Greetings from a German RP server. I love the troll rp. It's so much fun play a wild native deep down the jungle. It feels amazing to explore the dark nature of the loa.
I am an argent dawn tourist that just loves seeing people around and the more alive trade chat and it is such a good experience definetly would recommend everyone to try out RP servers at least once!
when i played WoW before the blizzard controversy i only really played for the RP. i played in the really small Moonglade-Shattarth-steamwheadle cartel realm. while i no longer play WoW, i have fond memories building and experiencing stories as a highschool teen with friends around the world, or playing an AD alt just walking around stormwind taverns. even these days, when i have some breathing space between lawschool semesters, i roleplay in ESO making new memories with new friends
Before I gave RP in WoW a shot, I actually briefly RPed in ESO as a teen. That’s how I already had the impression that the common perception of RPers was wrong
@SixstenWoW yeah, when Asmongold interviewed a goldshire RPer who makes IRL money from it as if she was the average RPer, I died a little inside. RP is a great tool to experience stories together, and it filled a slightly different niche for me between the D&D games I run for friends and online.
I've been a roleplayer for a good twenty years of my life now and as a Role Player in both FF14 and WoW I tend to love the rp realms cause they feel so much more ALIVE compared to traditional Pve realms. People are chiller, people are nicer, and I've met some of the best friends of my live in WoW/FF14 Rp this was a really wholesome video to listen to! One thing I want prospective roleplayers to know when you jump in. A little known fact is that Wyrmrest accord and Moonguard are actually grouped and share the no shard rule. So you can roll your toons on one server and find rp anywhere pretty handily on any faction. (Alliance is WAY more populous though.) I do this since I'm the mythical content roleplayer, a roleplayer who actively both roleplays and plays the game. (Despite my joking we're far more common then I make it out to sound.) As for my stories I just RECENTLY Found my guild home I think in a adventuring guild called New Dawn adventuring company. I have huge selection of toons across both factions but I primally play alliance: My main is a human warrior named Lorien who just is a farmboy inspired by the many heroes of the alliance and horde over the years and picked up the sword to become his own adventurer. I've been playing him since BFA and his journey has been a fun one. He started from raw recruit to now being a warrior blessed with enhanced attiributes due to a friends character. I also use Evokers as a excuse to play a bronze dragon who got curious about the life of a adventurer and uses her time magic and powers to aid those and adventure. I also have a Kul Tiran warlock. If you can dream it you can rp it in these worlds and it's just fun.
Got back into WoW for the first time in years, joined Moonguard since that's where an irl friend is. Been having a nostalgia blast while enjoying some rp. I love seeing everyone around town and stuff, sometimes just enjoining a few drinks at a tavern while people-watching~
Former MGer here, glad to hear someone else is going to speak positively about it. Once you avoid goldshire, it's great, the vast majority of the server is just normal people doing their story thing, and there's infinite opportunities to read and explore their stories, and start and expand your own stories, no ERP needed. If it were free to RP on MG, I'd be back on retail.
I'm an AD EU guy. A lot of Horde rp is community and guild centered, which makes some people think Horde rp is dead at times. It's actually pretty cozy.
as a casual player on moonguard, the roleplaying community makes the game very immersive as i do my own thing, i even use small mounts as to not get in their cameras as they do their thing. the only nsfw thing about moonguard in the goldshire inn, and a few other hidden corners well out of the way every now and then. if blizzard ever decides to recreate ff14's player housing system, it would add a whole new galaxy of possibility, the crafting order system is already set up for the logistics of furniture crafting which can be a community powered crafting profession that has the members of the guild feed their furnisher materials that can also be ordered and bought on the auction house.
I've played on Moon Guard for many years, and a fishing trip sounds lovely! The guild you joined sounds like some wholesome folks as well. I have not done RP in ages, but I would like to spectate more RP events. Worgen for the win!
I miss playing on a rp server but due to some drama and backstabing I just left for my own sanity and I still talk to some of my friends there and sometimes joine them for casual talk or walk with them in stormwind. Going back just reminds me of how much I love seeing the community make the city alive and I smile and am glad this game still has a pulse;
Used to be big into RP when I started out on Defias Brotherhood (EU) but it slowly died off just before I quit the game for a bit. I'm on Argent Dawn (EU) now and I'm struggling to get back into RP. but seeing servers that actually take it serious is refreshing.
moon guard is the only server i've ever played on for retail. i love it so much. i'm not a heavy duty rper but i have developed a backstory for my main and at least a small one for my alts. i love how alive the world seems, not just valdrakken (or whatever the current expansion's capital city is at the time of someone reading this) but stormwind as well. the whole thing goldshire is most-known for is really only an issue if you go inside the inn. even then, if you go upstairs it's not as raunchy. but outside the inn is mostly people talking and doing pvp. i have definitely been sent a lot of explicit dms in game since i'm a woman playing female toons, but i get those far more often in capital cities than in goldshire. i've made several friends through the game and found the raiding guild i'm in now just from hanging out in goldshire. i even met my boyfriend.
I'm sure Balmung in ff14 has a lot of great rp in it too besides what it is famous for. But bad press is bad press I suppose. And the cringe parts are pretty unsettling in both. But I am glad the rest of the server is awesome and not weird and I hope this inspires some people.
I appreciate you so much for this. Been on MG for 10 plus years and was always so frustrated by the crap it gets. There's so much good and I'm so glad you got to see some of it
I’m a moonguard player who mostly just plays the game and sometimes I go to goldshire because there’s interesting rp that can be gotten there besides standard smut. The open world is amazing with people all around and the economy and conversations in trade chat are really good
Thank you for giving us a better light to the rest of the player base! I met my husband on Moon Guard fourteen years ago, in a Southshore RP event :} Our characters are still married, too haha
I started on the original launch of WoW and RPed. I was a part of a guild called Crimson Knights. We were basically a less zealous/radical Scarlet Crusade. We would have guild meetings every week on the steps of the cathedral in Stormwind. Along with other little events and personal quests (think knights of the round table type things, recovering relics, helping fledgling adventures and so on) we once made a pilgrimage from Stormwind to Uthers Tomb in Western Plaugelands. This was back in WoWs toddler years so information was limited and players were still new. We went on foot all the way up there, most of the time actually walking. Those of us higher levels would clear out what we could to protect our lower level guild mates… RPing all the while. Eventually we made it, everyone one of us and our Guild Leader told us all the story of Uther, who is was, what he did, and why such a man was worthy of such a tomb and reverence. I will always remember that.
I've been on MG since I was maybe 9? (I'm almost 22 now, Been playing since i was 6) This video makes me so so happy and Im glad someone could show the bright side of the realm, It's genuinely been such a fun experience my whole time there ! Thank you so much for this :) I hope we can get some new players on thanks to your video! And Im so glad you're enjoying the realm yourself!!!
Moonguard is a wonderful server and full of awesome people. Goldshire is like tourist attraction for many who are curious about the bad reputation and seedy side. Be sure to get an RP add on and state in it that you're not interested in erp if you want to enjoy the party atmosphere of Goldshire but don't want the solicitations.
As a member of the Kingdom of Stromgarde guild, i completely agree. We put in the legwork blizzard doesnt have the time (or sometimes the care) to put in to flesh out the world. You should make videos on specific moonguard-centric lore, such as the Council of Gnomergan, the Stormwind Civil war (ran by the Stormwind Law Project) or any of the awesome conquest-events over the years!
I happened to come across Sixsten when just out wandering in the world. I hope I get to RP with him sometime because just recognizing him was like I'd had a brush with a real actual celebrity completely by happenstance.
I think “celebrity” is quite the stretch, but it does feel weird to be playing this game for 10+ years and all of a sudden start getting recognized in game.
I played WRA and Moon Guard (mostly the latter nowadays) between Cataclysm to present, having moved over after starting on Lightbringer server. Honestly, I moved over for the very reasons you highlighted here... Even if you don't RP yourself, it's nice to see an extra life breathed into the world by a community that loves it. It's what makes an RPG an RPG. And that's exactly what WoW is: an MMO RPG.
I RP on Moon Guard and it's nice seeing a video like this. I will admit that my time is split between Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord, since I like playing both Alliance and Horde characters. If you see Sulfargrim, the Dark Iron Paladin, running around on Moon Guard, that's me. Hope to see more people coming to Moon Guard. :)

Also a Moonguardian here: Moonguard is fun>:3
I'm on the Argent Dawn-EU server. We're currently on a campaign using Deepholm as an out-of-character location and fighting through a Nerubian cave system as a pre-lude to the War Within expansion!
Yooo I'd be super down to join in on that one, Campaigns in AD are super scarce lately.
Mind sharing so others can join in? Currently looking for smth like this :D
Europe RP is dying ;(
Oh you mean the one from campaigns of Argent dawn? I heard about it through the Emerald enclave
Imagine Role Playing in a Role Game. Most of the playerbase are totally alien to that concept.
Bad press is bad press
@@OhNoTheFace no, I mean role play in ANY role game. Period.
It is sad that a lot of people think RP = ERP. Goldshire doesn't, in any way, represent RP in general.
@@ashwinnmyburgh9364 Again, I'm talking about RPG in general
the way you interpret the role you play in this game is diferent to the way "most of the playerbase" inteprets their role that they play (in this game) and neither is wrong.
Moonguard is the Best Server for the Alliance in terms of RP, and just overall making the World feel alive with players being around small towns, abandoned cities, and more.
And Wyrmrest Accord for the Horde equivalent.
@@1ViivviiX1 Ya but WrA nowadays is a lot more elitist and dramatic about stuff. It used to be better.
@@JoshuaS-gj5pw ehhh, you don't wanna know..
Greetings from Wyrmrest Accord! Hello my MG cousins! I play a ghost who rides through Duskwood every night. It ain't much, but it's honest work! Wyrmrest Alliance is alive!
The legend himself!
Sir Thomas Bates! Good to see you here!
I am so impressed some of you recognized my character without a name drop, what the heck lmao!
Legend online❤
I’ve always thought that WRA isn’t quite as faction-imbalanced as Moon Guard is. Is that true?
Heya six! It’s Luna here! Great video, it was a fun watch! Now, seeing as you asked:
I, unlike a lot of players who play WoW, am a new player.
Much love
22 and I've also been playing since I was 6! This video may have convinced me to transfer to MoonGuard
Tournament of Ages is still going! I didn't attend this year but I know it was on just this month!
OH MY GOD HI, HOLY SHIT
I'm the bard for the Striped Zhevra Troupe, thank you so much for featuring us in your video! 🥺
When I set out to make this video, I wanted to dispel the ‘myth’ of RP realms, so I titled it with the intent for Non-RPers to watch it
It makes me happy to hear you feel like I represented the RP community well :)
Wasn't expecting to spot myself in this video, glad you've had a good experience with MG so far!
If your new to RP dont worry, people love to help new people and will even let you know about everything you need to get started.
...are you a self insert? Your toon is named Thomas.
Only weirdos play in moon guard touch grass loser
@@LinkTardis whats wrong with self inserts?
two people named tom? preposter!!!
The pvpers of moonguard are also some of the most vicious i have ever seen in wow, looking FABULOUS while they roflstomp your face
@@theholy1191 Horde being hit with villain bat harder than ever before in BfA also didn't help. I know at least a few IC deserters from that period.
Well, I kinda saw me in the clip about the Fireworks show. I know it was me because of the anchor.
Great video! Thank you so much for making it. I love Moon Guard. You can find RP around pretty much any corner. And there are so many organized RP events every day!
Striped Zhevra member here! Troupe wants to say thanks for the little shout out! You rock!
I play on moon guard solely to have the game feel more alive. I just raid and do M+ every once in awhile but it's still fun to see all the interesting things that happen on the realm.
Oh my God Hi six! I didn't know you had a YT Channel!
I was present at your Ritual last week, I'm glad i stumbled over this video.
Orzabel Morgan from , Kingdom of Gilneas. Good to see you reviewing us. Love the content.
also side promo: I will recommend people that are new to check out Gnews announcements at around 9pm server time, they typically do announcements for open RP events to check out!
Argent Dawn EU is still the main rp hub in Europe
"Ugh. Its those RPers."
Few years back though, i found a tiny little private server made by and for roleplayers.
The server's name was purposely left out of this comment, but given the recent waves it's made with it's announcement to port WoW to unreal 5, trying to keep it a secret is pretty pointless
The server is called Turtle WoW
Made a toon on Moon Guard when coming back to the game as an adult. Never knew it had this reputation, but I will say that I consistently meet nice and amazing people, and the guild I’m in is so helpful supportive inclusive and just all around great people!!
It's good to see people recognize Moonguard is a vibrant roleplaying community and not just That Place
As a role-player since Legion, I love Moonguard. It has its good and bad moments but it is almost therapeutic to just relax and live as my character.
I've played on moonguard for well over 6 years at this point I'm not much of a roleplayer but some of my most fond memories in the game was on this server
you'll find a mix of people who are just having fun and have silly little backstories and on the other side of the spectrum you'll find people with the most edgy "I killed the lich king" backstory ever.
overall there's never a dull moment in moonguard
I've been playing on Moon Guard since I first started the game back in 2006, and I love this server so much
as a moonguard player i love goldshire. its very fun to look at the deranged RP profiles. Also ive met some of the people there and they are dope.
Rimmington here! Great video dude! I’m glad you’re enjoying KoG as well and it’s amazing community! ❤️ keep up the amazing work
My only interactions with players form Moon Guard are in Mythic+ and Raids, they are always cooperative and friendly, I'll give everything to protect those guys.
Thanks, I’m making an MG character behind my friends backs now
I’ve always wanted to RP and this is it, I will face my fears
Moonguard is so much more alive then any other realm I've made toons in, its why most of my mains where moved here from my former realm The Scryers.
What's left is the bottom of the barrel gooners
At this point Goldshire is an eyesore that just lags Elywnn Forest
I play on Moonguard. Nice to see someone cover the nicer side of the Realm. Not all of it is Goldshire XD
I've been on MG since late BC and have loved every minute! Thank you so much for covering my home away from home!
i played on moonguard for a while... i was really annoying (if anyone remembers Thegan the worgen who would always get injured) but i still kinda miss it and if i ever start playing wow again i'd want to go back
Argent Dawn EU is also a famous RP realm for EU realms. It has its own guilds and storylines. If you could check it out would be nice representation of us too ^^
Shout out to my Argent Dawn (EU) folk! RP is a great part of this game and I love doing it. Thank you for making this video, the more visibility we get then the larger we can make our community ^^.
Zick here and i just wanted to say gratz on another great video!
Love it when you upload! I'm excited to watch the video later as a MG player!
Great video man! Keep up the work and thanks for shining a spotlight on the good sides of MG!
Moonguard is the heart of WoW.
(Despite my joking we're far more common then I make it out to sound.)
As for my stories I just RECENTLY Found my guild home I think in a adventuring guild called New Dawn adventuring company.
I have huge selection of toons across both factions but I primally play alliance:
My main is a human warrior named Lorien who just is a farmboy inspired by the many heroes of the alliance and horde over the years and picked up the sword to become his own adventurer.
I was on Moon Guard way back in the day. Shout out to the guilds I was part of, the Bloodied Ninth and the Lordamere Confederacy, you guys were great
Got back into WoW for the first time in years, joined Moonguard since that's where an irl friend is. Been having a nostalgia blast while enjoying some rp. I love seeing everyone around town and stuff, sometimes just enjoining a few drinks at a tavern while people-watching~
Moonguard US is just a tame Argent Dawn EU. If you know you know.
I miss playing on a rp server but due to some drama and backstabing I just left for my own sanity and I still talk to some of my friends there and sometimes joine them for casual talk or walk with them in stormwind. Going back just reminds me of how much I love seeing the community make the city alive and I smile and am glad this game still has a pulse;
Love seeing MG get some love on UA-cam…in a PG way! RP is just so wonderful and really helps keep my interest since end game content is so small
Started playing on MG about a year ago, the game just feels so much more alive and fun I can never play another server again tbh.
