What makes Bob Jenkins great is that he never ever took himself too seriously. It was always about the product on the track. It was never about him. He is pure class.
The best American motorsports broadcaster ever. Not hearing him call racing anymore just doesn't feel right. Him and Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett together was the best pairing of all time in my opinion. I'm going to miss all of them, and R.I.P., BP.
Bob Jenkins well-deserves the Squier-Hall Award from the NASCAR Hall Of Fame for an outstanding commentator and the BEST commentator in the entire world of Motorsports.
Can still think back and hear him saying “ESPN, the world’s leader in motorsports coverage welcomes you to...(insert track here)” like it was yesterday
Hearing Bob at the start of a race was like hearing Jim McKay on Wide World of Sports. It has just been a part of my life and a void that cannot be filled. Good luck Bob and thanks for everything.
Thank you Bob Jenkins for your tireless Hoosier wit that made motorsports telecasts make us feel the smell of rubber and the high energy on track. To the new play by play announcers, study this man's ability to bring authentic broadcasts to the listener and later to tv viewer. Always of the highest quality.
What can i say about my all time favorite reporter Bob Jenkins. Plain and simple the man. Him benny and ned was the best ever. U can add ken squire to that. But bob, wow the man has talent. God bless you mr. Jenkins we love you and hope to see you back soon!!!!!!
My favorite Bob Jenkins race was the Winston Cup race at North Wilkesboro in 1989 when Earnhardt & Ricky Rudd were racing for the lead and spun each other out and Geoff Bodine won. That race ended up costing Earnhardt a championship and when he was interviewed at the end he let go of a few expletives. Jenkins's call was a classic, and every time I see the tape it I have to laugh because of the circumstances and because of Jenkins's reaction to the event as it unfolded.
Bob Jenkins is a legend, plain and simple. I first started watching Indycar racing later on in his career but his style was so welcoming, informative, and engaged! Only Ken Squier and maybe Mike Joy are at Bob's level of greatness.
Always appreciated Bob's work even when people took sides during the open wheel split(Spike hired him to do Champ Car coverage and some fans called him an IRL shill). 2005 is when I truly appreciated him after a season of Todd Harris
Bob's not gone. He's still with NBCSN as a reserve broadcaster when Leigh Diffey is doing Formula 1. Rick Allen (the current NASCAR play-by-play) is also a reserve broadcaster, and did it this past Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park.
OMG I agree with Dave Despain about Bob, Ned and the late Benny Parsons on the early ESPN NASCAR broadcasts. I enjoyed Bob Jenkins on the NASCAR broadcasts on NASCAR and the Thunder broadcasts. Have a good retirement Bob.
Bob, you'll always be my hero! I can't wait to hear your voice grace the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next year. Most likely, it'll be one of the main reasons I'll get out there!
As of today's official announcement, Formula 1 wil be shown at regular cable starting 2013 season on NBC/sportsnetwork. Bob Jenkins if you get bored come do some f1 for us finally :)
Dave Despain's voice hoping in was a reminder the era with Bob Jenkins, Benny, and Ned is terrific. Also does anyone else think the Captain sounds a bit like Ken Squire in this?
Bob Jenkins has joined Murray Walker on the heavenly motorsports commentary booth...
RIP Bob Jenkins & RIP Murray Walker
Here on August 9, 2021 and Bob is no longer with us
RIP Bob Jenkins one of the best voices ever to grace American motorsports
RIP Bob Jenkins Thanks for the great memories you gave us over the years we will all miss you
RIP Bob Jenkins. He is on the Mount Rushmore of the greatest racing broadcasters in history.
@Killer NYC I know spots are limited but I would also include Mike Joy and F1’s Murray Walker

Ken Squier
Bob Jenkins

Paul Page
Can't believe he's no longer here. RIP Bob Jenkins. 😢
Devastated to hear of his passing today. Rest easy Bob. You will never be forgotten.
Rest in Paradise, Bob Jenkins. Today, he has passed from his brain cancer at the age of 73
I just found out myself, stumbled upon this clip. Grew up listening to him on the ESPN NASCAR broadcasts, Thursday Night Thunder, all that stuff. RIP…
Bob, Ned, and Benny. Best there was and ever will be.
Those were the good ole days.
We Still have Ned.

R.I.P. Bob Jenkins (September 4, 1947 - August 9, 2021)
Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons were always my favorites.
Bob Jekins is a legend....
Like Ken Squirer and Barney Hall
Well said. I would wholehartedly agree that Bob Jekins is of the same quality and calibre of Ken Squire and Barney Hall.
We Still Have Ken Squirer
I really hope Bob and Murray are now commentating an epic race between Ayrton, Anthoine, Dan, Dale, Justin, Jules, Greg and all the ones we've lost
Amen
Fly high Bob Jenkins, a big hug to the sky the best Indycar commentator on NBCSN and ABC on ESPN and Indy 500 R.I.P Bob Jenkins
Bob you were definitely one of the great ones. Rest in peace.
The FN Best! RIP Bob
What makes Bob Jenkins great is that he never ever took himself too seriously. It was always about the product on the track. It was never about him. He is pure class.
Memories of the first ESPN ride along commercial. "Hello, that's not my knee."
Rest in peace, Bob Jenkins.
The best American motorsports broadcaster ever. Not hearing him call racing anymore just doesn't feel right. Him and Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett together was the best pairing of all time in my opinion. I'm going to miss all of them, and R.I.P., BP.
Thank God UA-cam has a lot of the races here
RIP Bob Jenkins a true legend of Motorsports.
One of the very few super special announcers in all of sports, he will will truly be missed.
Rest in Paradise Bob we love you!
He is going to be MISSED and I have to say that I'm sure when it comes to racing he was a MENTOR to all of us!
Rip. One of the greats
Bob Jenkins well-deserves the Squier-Hall Award from the NASCAR Hall Of Fame for an outstanding commentator and the BEST commentator in the entire world of Motorsports.
He got passed over that award this year and it pissed me off so bad. BP just got in, and Bob going in would have made the trinity coming true.
He was just simply the BEST ever. The trio Jenkins, Parsons, and Jarrett were the best commentating group in racing history
Bob, Benny, Ned......the dream team.
RIP Bob Jenkins. 😭

He just passed away RIP Bob.
Very well done as a tribute. A class act, as unforgetable as a broadcaster as Sid Collins was for THE 500, for those of us old enough to remember him.
Darn it, Bob, you made me cry, too.
Rest in peace
Bob Jenkins
1947-2021

Loved that guys voice growing up watching NASCAR.
Cheers and blessings Bob, can never forget Thursday Night Thunder and your dedication to short track racers. Best to You!

Bob, you are overall my favorite broadcaster and no one can match you. Thanks for being the best broadcaster in motorsports!!
TheMedicalReptile I second that!
Only been watching IndyCar for two years but Bob was "the voice" of the sport for me since my first race. Have a great retirement Mr Jenkins.
What I remember most is the 1998 daytona 500. How he put into color the post race activities.
Good luck Bob.
RIP Bob 🕊
I didn't find out until today that Bob died. RIP
Happy retirement, Bob Jenkins! Thanks for all these years.

Died from brain cancer.
You will be greatly missed.
I'm 65 so after Chris Economaki , Bob Jenkins took over. 👍
💙
Farewell Bob!
They could not have picked anyone better to replace him
Leigh Diffey
Who’s here after hearing his death
i think Page is retiring too because he's no longer doing NHRA on ESPN. Bob Jenkins, Paul Page, Bob Frey from NHRA all retired in 2012
Ned Jarrett was the only one left 😥
I'll bet that this will be the most viewed video Indycar has ever uploaded.
well deserved. yes...have him call the INDY 500 ON RADIO PERMANTLEY.
We will miss your comments!
Enjoy the retirement!
I guess Bob Farsha who does F1 will do both F1 and Indy Car.
Saturday Night Thunder from Ventura
Sleepy Tripp Jimmy Sills
I hope Indy Car hires Paul Page.
Bob and Murray seem to be pea's in a pod for commentary
