Hey! This was super helpful! Back on the 360, I completely rejected coordinates because I didn't fully understand them.
For _so_ many years I've been aligning objects by hand. It'll be refreshing not having to meticulously tap my Xbox controller bumpers over n' over for every object.

I’d say blockouts are much less important in reach. In H5 they are more useful. I say this because the Halo: Reach forge palette is much less expansive and you have to work around the geometric objects that you have. If you’re a good H: R forger, your aesthetic details aren’t accents on the map; rather, they are integrated parts of the map geometry that both look pretty AND serve gameplay functionality.
Simply making an entire map out of blocks will never turn out well, because the blocks have in-built textures that often conflict with one another. Your initial build doesn’t have to look super pretty, but it has to look *clean*. Most often the additional details are more peripheral once you have a clean mesh of geometry and texture. Keep in mind that the H:R engine is not particularly fond of detail; frame rate drops and texture flashing are very common. So you want to make sure that your ‘Block-out’ looks good from the get-go.

Be nice if something like this was done for Infinite. But far more detailed. And more indepth, I struggle making maps in 5 and the lack of tutorials can be really off putting. I do it for fun. Imagine how new players must feel when going into it.
Its something Infinite really needs to truly explode the forging scene there (there is no point to something when there are only a few who truly utilise it perfectly. No reason to spend money improving it).

I know people are going to hate me but whatever. I started forging on Halo 5 by simply trying to edit maps before getting into building maps. It's quite easy this way in my opinion because you don't need to worry about the angle or placement of large walls depending on how you want things edited. It's also easiest to start off with editing small maps with minor adjustments before getting into the larger edits on maps. It took me about 3 months to finally begin building my own maps from scratch. I'd recommend doing it this way if you want to get into Halo 5 forge. I'm not saying Halo 5 is a good game, just stating how I managed to work with the forge mode. Keep in mind that it also might've been easier for me to start forging on Halo 5 because I'd never tried forging in any other Halo game other than 5, so the tips I've listed might not work for some people.

One of my complaints with forge is the Block snap I'd really only used to nudge coords. It would be nice if we also had something like fortnite creative's grid adjuster

I use the grid religiously. No corridor should be less than a 2x2 block. No roof should be less than that as well.
