On Friday Southwest Airlines introduced “Imua One,” their brand new high-flying tribute to Hawaii! In Hawaii, the concept of Imua means to move forward with strength and courage. Friday also marked the beginning of Southwest’s fifth year serving Hawaii, and with the introduction of this special livery, they showcased their continued commitment to Hawaii as they continue to forge a partnership that brings Hawaii together by offering their famous Southwest hospitality, low fares, & Heart. I was honored to be invited by Southwest, on a paid trip, to the pre-departure festivities in Long Beach and onboard Imua One’s first flight to Hawaii! As always, I captured the entire day crystal clear 4K, so you too can experience all the fun!
That was fantastic! I loved it when everybody clapped just before and as the pilot spooled up those engines right after the missed approach! It surely is different from a missed approach and go around due to dangerous crosswinds! What a lovely day it was, and I think I can say we all feel a part of the experience. Keep up the great work!
One question about the celebration at the ramp in Honolulu; was that a b727 I heard startup near by just after the celebration began? If so, I could almost smell the smoke from the exhaust in my nostrils! I don't know if sounds and even sights trigger certain smell memories, but this happens to me whenever I hear something as unforgettable as that plane or the DC-8! I flew on those more than any other aircraft from the time I was around 1 year old up until I was 14, and I love those older aircrafts. How I wish I could afford to join other aviation enthusiasts and fly aboard one of those again!
First impressions: Southwest has done a phenomenal job on this livery! One of the best I’ve seen so far! Always a joy to watch your videos bro! Keep up the great work!
Thanks my friend. They did indeed nail it. So much care and time went into every single aspect of it. It’s not just a pretty livery, it has real meaning and significance behind it. Which makes it even more special!
I am too my friend. It was an honor to be able to attend these events. But, as always, I wanted you and everyone else to be able to see everything and be a part of it as well. That's why I do everything on here. So everyone can see all of these amazing special events! Thank you so much for watching my friend!
A fantastic production of this special aircraft. You did a stellar job in showing the star of the show - Imua One, with all the celebration and festivities. I particularly enjoyed the tradition of the Hawaiian/Polynesian culture including the blessings. This is a very beautiful aircraft and a fantastic takeoff & landing. Great job on this!
Fantastic video. Loved: 1) the open air at Long Beach; 2) seeing the Hawaiian Airlines A330 while Imua One was being blessed, etc, 3) Your new, more colorful Converse shoes; 4)the entire flight. Looks like it was a fun day.
Hey Traveler, I like those sweet Southwest Airlines Kicks !! Very Retro Indeed. Imua One, "The aircraft that comes from the Island," Big Sister to Oumuamua "A messenger from afar arriving first." That's really great livery on the aircraft. And he skipped the emblem on the aircraft !! But boards and fades to sneaks !! Nice mood lighting within. As a light man in a nightclub, I was always warned never to light a human being on the stage in blue light. Oh, that is a beautiful sun on the ocean approach into HNL. Did he fly the normal route inbound? I was a little disoriented, it looked like they flew out to the west towards the ocean, and then turned back to the inland runway, and not use the seaside approach, in many of the other flights.
A special event called for some special shoes 😁. I only skipped the emblem on the door because there was the plaque on the bulkhead 😁. As for the approach. This is a normal approach, however, as you noted, it is not the standard approach that we’ve all come to know. And that is because the runway closest to the terminals, which I believe is 8L, is closed for reconstruction. So arrivals are now using 4R instead.
Skylite Productions that’s cool that you were on Imua One that was your second Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 MAX8 Special Livery you’ve been on Retro Livery twice
Southwest paid very close attention to Hawaiian culture in every aspect of this livery and the celebrations! They did it right! Thanks for watching my friend!
I liked how the Hawaiian Airlines flight was departing in the background in the beginning. I've seen the Imua One plane on this end since I live in Honolulu, beautiful livery.
Another great video. Can't wait for one of the diecast manufacturers to put this livery on a diecast. I wish I could find my conch shell I bought when I was over there.
Yes sir. I don't have room for a big collection so I started something where I collect aircraft you might see in the Hawaiian Islands. I have among them a 747-200 United with the livery that I flew over in the 70s and virtually everything Hawaiian has so this one definitely needs a place in my collection.
Great, in-depth video! Loved watching all the festivities and celebration! You must’ve loved getting invited to such a special event! I can’t wait to see Imua One in person hopefully soon! Great video as always and thanks for sharing it all with us!
It's nice to see SWA recognizing aviation creators and offering you this amazing oppertunity, SWA has always been my favorite but since they don't fly out of JFK and have limited flights out of LGA, it's usually not a contendor for me. Also the numerous celebrations held was also phenominal, especially that drum perfomance on the ramp!
Southwest did an amazing job with this whole day really. The events in Long Beach, the flight, the event in Honolulu, etc. You could tell they weren’t just doing all of this because they felt like it was expected. They were doing it all because they genuinely cared and wanted to introduce this livery in the best way possible.
What an amazing job you did filming, I live just east of Long Beach Airport and am so jealous 😉 you got to take this inaugural flight. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
Thank you, my friend! It was a true honor to be able to attend the events, and be a passenger on the aircraft’s first flight to Hawaii. Just to be thought of, and be trusted with bringing all of these ceremonies and events to everyone else who were not in attendance…. Like I said, it was a true honor.
Well, since the only part of me that you ever see is my legs and shoes, I've become known for always wearing black Converse. Well, I wanted to do something special for this event, and I thought... What better way to add a nice extra touch than to get some Southwest themed Converse. So, I'm glad you and so many others enjoyed that extra touch!
Sometimes I'm sitting there listening, and I'm thinking... Is it ever actually going to fire up... It might sound cool, but my goodness they are SO slow to start haha.
Epic celebration for the Imua one livery in the beginning. What a beautiful livery too. It’s amazing. It’s great to see the southwest having their second 737-MAX 8 livery. The takeoff was obviously nice like always. Sky’s are very clear! And the landing was obviously amazing. Landing on islands always has a great view. Amazing! 🔥 💙❤️🧡
Man, this is my new favorite Southwest livery. Before, it was always Freedom One, and Texas One. Now 100% Imua One. Thanks Skylite Productions for another phenomenal job on this video. Thanks, I also subscribed. You’re welcome!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend. It sounds like we have a similar ranking. Freedom One was my top one too until this one! Thanks for subscribing my friend!
Epic celebrations and video. Again, flying to Hawaii, haha. I went back to Honolulu last month after visiting last year, and it's safe to say that I'll have to make it an annual trip because I just love Oahu Island, haha. Honestly, boarding the aircraft through air stairs at warm tropical airports is the best.
Wow!! Nice! My last flight(which was my first flight)to Hawaii on Southwest was very turbulent in the last quarter of the flight. But,I wasn't scared...much. My nephew is a Southwest pilot. Thanks for another great video!👍
Oh finally southwest have first plane with power plugs. I’ve been looking in UA-cam 24/7 until I can confirm when chances will begin having power in 737 max.

That's awesome my friend. Freedom One is at the top of my list when it comes to special liveries right now. It's been out for nearly a year now and I still haven't even seen it, let alone flown on it.
@@robmetcalf8878 It is indeed very special! There's only 1 Freedom One and as much as I fly, I still haven't even seen it in person yet, let alone flown on it! I'm glad you got to fly on it!
It was an honor to be able to do this and bring it to you and everyone else! The plane is beautiful, the meanings behind every part of the design is incredible, the celebrations and blessings were also beautiful, and the flight was awesome. Like I said, it was a an honor to do this! Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks my friend. Southwest did a excellent job with all of this. As for the Eskimo of Alaska Airlines. If I remember correctly, because someone else asked me this not too long ago. When I looked into it, the answer was basically that no one really knows who that person is, or if the design was actually inspired by any one person to begin with.
They blessed the plane in LGB California. I went there to catch a ship Carnival cruise, 2⁰11… Oauhu 2023 from JFK in March to April. I want to return. Now fired in Aug. Bless them now.
And very well thought out. Liveries can be beautiful but have no real significance behind them. Not here. Every single detail of this livery has significance and meaning behind it! It makes it all the more special!
Such a beautiful flight along with such a beautiful plane! This is by far my favorite southwest livery since the desert gold max was released! Also, was that the Virgin Orbit 747 in the background during the pushback?
Definitely the same here. The desert gold Max has been my favorite, but this one is even better! And yes, that is the Virgin Orbit 747 in the background. I wonder what will happen to it now that Virgin Orbit is falling apart. I guess time will tell.
@@sla31 It's definitely a one of a kind eye catching livery, I've been tracking it ever since it was introduced at the four major airports SWA serves in Hawaii.
So, that is the 747 that I believe was being used for Virgin Orbit. Which I believe was a satellite launching expedition. I think the company just declared bankruptcy and is folding at this point. So I imagine that 747 will be bound for the scrap yard sooner than later.
These were a pair I found online that were already made. They actually have a small green strip on the back, so they're not 100% Southwest colors. I got them for $30. On the flip side, you can custom order Converse, but it takes like 8 weeks to make them and they'll set you back between $85-$110 per pair once shipping and taxes are added. So, you can get a custom pair, but I'd check eBay and other places first to try to get a deal like I did.
Hi! Nice video and nice plane! Technical questions: How did you hold your phone during a 6 hour flight? I saw your phone didn't focuse on the water on the window in Long Beach. Did you lock focus?
Thanks my friend. I always hold the camera by hand. And that is no different in this video. Even on long flights like this, I still hold the camera by hand. In fact, at many points during this flight, I was holding two cameras. One out the window with my left hand, and one in the cabin with my right hand. So, I guess the answer to your question on how I do it, is, I have muscles of steel 😂. As for the focus. I don’t ever lock the focus on my cameras, as that also locks the exposure. But, I do always set the focus initially on the wing tip. And I do the same thing for every video.
I hadn’t seen this comment when I just replied to the other, so as you now know, I haven’t caught the canyon blue Max yet. I’ve been close a couple of times. A few weeks ago it was scheduled to operate my flight from Honolulu to San Diego, but was switched at the last minute.
@@mbilly710 well at this point I can't really be too disappointed. I've already gotten to fly Imua One, I've flown Herbie three times, I've flown Triple Crown One on six different flights, and I've gotten to fly Missouri One, Colorado One, and New Mexico One. So, I can let some other people have them for once haha.
Well, sometimes it’s not luck. I’ve built this channel up to nearly 70K subs over 8 years at this point. Something else I have built in that same time, is good relationships with a lot of people who work for airlines. So in this instance, I was invited to this special event and to fly on Imua Ones first flight to Hawaii. The Alaska Salmon flight recently wasn’t luck either. Although that was a public flight open to anyone. Alaska had announced that a month or so in advance.
They provided it. I don’t ever show anything that I bring on the plane. Keep in mind though that this was a special charter flight. The second service is what’s usually served on Southwest Hawaii bound flights.
Well, work on building a community of aviation lovers for over 8 years, and cultivate some good relationships with people at the airlines. That's how it happened for me! A lot of hard work over the years, but it pays off when I get to do events like this. Thanks for watching my friend!
Well it is hard to beat good old Herbie. But this one sure comes close! It might even be a tie for me 😁. This livery just has so much planning, meaning, and significance to every little detail. It’s incredible and is a true ambassador!

Thanks! A special occasion called for some special shoes!
Any info on the Virgin 744 in the background at 50:00 ??
i want it
So, that is the 747 that I believe was being used for Virgin Orbit. Which I believe was a satellite launching expedition. I think the company just declared bankruptcy and is folding at this point. So I imagine that 747 will be bound for the scrap yard sooner than later.
Are those custom made shoes or did you just happen to find a pair with those colors? They look great!
Nothin like a fresh "shower" before takeoff lol.😊
Don't know the aircraft going the other way but it must have looked great from the cockpit
Did they do both missed approach’s on purpose?
Yes, they were both planned in advance.
What are those shoes that you are wearing I really like them?!
Those are custom Southwest colored Converse.
Incredible but i like❤ thanks
Thanks for watching my friend!
Skylite Productions have you gotten the chance to be on the Canyon Blue 737 MAX8 yet?
I hadn’t seen this comment when I just replied to the other, so as you now know, I haven’t caught the canyon blue Max yet. I’ve been close a couple of times. A few weeks ago it was scheduled to operate my flight from Honolulu to San Diego, but was switched at the last minute.
@@sla31 that’s disappointing what was your first reaction when it got swapped?
@@mbilly710 well at this point I can't really be too disappointed. I've already gotten to fly Imua One, I've flown Herbie three times, I've flown Triple Crown One on six different flights, and I've gotten to fly Missouri One, Colorado One, and New Mexico One. So, I can let some other people have them for once haha.
Question, why does it go around for every landing?
They were performing pre-planned go-arounds for photo opportunities. It’s also a gesture to help signify the importance of the events.
@@sla31 Thank you!!!
How do you get so lucky with getting inaugural flights
Well, sometimes it’s not luck. I’ve built this channel up to nearly 70K subs over 8 years at this point. Something else I have built in that same time, is good relationships with a lot of people who work for airlines. So in this instance, I was invited to this special event and to fly on Imua Ones first flight to Hawaii. The Alaska Salmon flight recently wasn’t luck either. Although that was a public flight open to anyone. Alaska had announced that a month or so in advance.
So cool
Indeed! Thanks for watching my friend!
In the first onbaord service did they serve the sandwhich or did you bring it on?
They provided it. I don’t ever show anything that I bring on the plane. Keep in mind though that this was a special charter flight. The second service is what’s usually served on Southwest Hawaii bound flights.
@@sla31 yeah I was wondering if it was because of the charter, thanks!
@@lego7812 it was 😁. So don’t expect it on your next flight. But, it was very nice of Southwest to provide that in this situation.
Can you mak a new video is flying on SWA 737 700 From KMKE to KMCO plz
Well, I can certainly keep it in mind. I can tell you at the moment, I don’t have anything like that booked.
@@sla31 let me know
how does someone such as myself get invited to something like this?
Well, work on building a community of aviation lovers for over 8 years, and cultivate some good relationships with people at the airlines. That's how it happened for me! A lot of hard work over the years, but it pays off when I get to do events like this. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@sla31 you do a great job and got a new subscriber in me
@@heathj7794 Thanks my friend! I appreciate that. On the road to 100K right now!
It just released 🤩🤩🤩
Enjoy the video my friend!
Wowwwwww so cool love ur videos ❤ if your reading this I really want to become a pilot one day
I'm glad you enjoy them my friend!
Let’s Goooo
Enjoy it my friend! Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed it. It was super fun
Southwest’s I’m imua one is so stunning but not as nice as the dessert gold retro 737 max I hope I can fly one of these things soon
Well it is hard to beat good old Herbie. But this one sure comes close! It might even be a tie for me 😁. This livery just has so much planning, meaning, and significance to every little detail. It’s incredible and is a true ambassador!
Dig the SWA Chuck Taylors
Thank you, my friend. I got them just for this!
They really fancy up the dont like me planes
13:45 why does it sound like a fire alarm is going off? 😂
Because of one the gate boarding doors was malfunctioning and when that happens they're required to have an alarm on them.
Now that they have power, the only things Southwest needs in their new planes are tablet holders.
nice to see a hawaiian airlines plane in front of that performance lol
Well, I'm not sure Southwest enjoyed their celebration having a Hawaiian Airlines backdrop, but it did help set to tone haha.
@@sla31 haha
Represent. It may be
the one the other crew flew in on.
The charging ports have arrived
At long last! Thanks for watching my friend!
