TR 580 lockup duty solenoid issues (2014 subaru outback)

- so I went off of the diagrams I could find for the code I was give (p2673) lockup duty solenoid high circuit. that basically means the computer is reading high resistance on this particular solenoid on the tr580 valve body. subaru will not sell individual solenoids, but you can find them on Amazon and eBay. The only diagram I could find for the issue resulted in a diagnostic flow chart but initially I didn't realize it was for the wrong transmission entirely. thus I have created an additional problem on top of the existing problem. the TR 690 is entirely different then the TR 580 which I have. after a few forum posts I acquired the proper diagrams and realized my precise problem. which is stated in the video. I hope to educate others on my mistake and lesson the impact of disinformation I initially discovered trying to fix my problem. please like amd sub for more troubleshooting content as I am a huge DIY guy with 12+ years of mechanical background and electrical as well.

Thanks I’ve been looking for which one is lock up, can only find people replacing the whole valve body. I’m gonna tackle this tonight on mine.
Best of luck! Just don't take all the bolts out, certain ones hold the valve body together.
@@supernova9088tonight I replaced the solenoid. Drove home about 20 miles with a few stops in between. So far so good. Noticed a huge difference in performance, and no warnings on the dash. I can follow up after a few days of driving and leave the Dorman part number after I’m sure the issue is resolved with some good drive time. I can see what you’re saying about the bolts that hold the valve body together too, had to line everything up again to get the base plate that holds the solenoids down bolted in. Another thing id like to throw out there for anyone else doing this job themselves, is that the ground right by the lock up solenoid broke when I torqued the bolt down, had to trim the wire and put a new connector on. But again, thanks for the video. 👍👍
@user-he8mj9jp1m awesome! I had issues after about 1k miles or less and replaced the entire thing but it's not cheap. Going strong now 15k miles later
@@supernova9088 I’m hoping I can get enough miles to get me by til I can swing a new valve body. Even just a couple weeks
@@supernova9088 I just wanted to follow up since replacing my solenoid. 4 k miles with no issues. It was a Dorman part.
Really good video your camera quality is ✨premium✨
How do you get this damn thing out of the transmission
Thanks for the video bro... Did it work properly after getting the OHMs right???
After changing the whole valve body yes it has been working flawlessly. I went through too many steps for that bish lol
@@supernova9088waittttt. So replacing only the solenoids didn't fix it? I think I'm getting confused.
So the TR580 should be 3ohms? Please lmk, I’m stuck with my forester beeping with all the transmission issues
If I recall there are different ohms for different valves. Most will be 13
Change the fluid bro. Thats black
It's required after this step lol. Yes I changed it a few times actually with running engine in between to circulate new oil.
Can you tell me where can find new oem solenoid 13 ohm ?
Thanks so much
So sorry I had notification off here... I have a few links I'll add to desc.
Any videos how to get to this while in the car
Pop the hood. It's towards the rear center.
Where did you buy the AWD solenoid? I need them too. Trying to figure out if I should buy the entire valve body or try to find the solenoid.
Ebay personally but I would reccomend getting the entire valve body assembly and learning what bolts you font touch when taking it out. A local subaru certified place should have the valve body for around 900$ usd.
I was looking at the solenoids on Amazon. The ones with more than 1 or 2 reviews had a lot of bad reviews. Not working or only working a few days to a few months. Off to ebay and the sellers of the solenoids almost all have several negative feedback for shoddy or faulty parts. I wish there was a reliable place to get the solenoids.
Did you find a reliable solenoid?
@@rvglover I found a broken ground in my valve body.
I had my notifs off guys sorry. I got mine from Amazon at first and it failed after two drives. Definitely just replace whole body
@LaughingTerry that's pretty hard to achieve? How did that happen?
Thank yoy very bery much for the information. Now i need to get the solenoids ...
Thanks for the video. Where can I buy good quality solenoids?
Hi ! I have a problem with my TR580 and I need to replace the secondary line pressure solenoid 😢 do you know where can I get it ?
They are hard to find. Amazon and eBay but read reviews and stay away from "re-manned"
What was your symptoms? What caused you to look at the solenoids?
The codes read that there were faulty valves, I ohmmed them out but a few were weak. Replaced individual solenoid but wound up changing whole valve assembly due to cheap part failing.
@@supernova9088do you suggest the full valve body replacement? I want to just replace single lockup solenoid with one from Amazon but idk now. Just expensive for whole valve body.
Just saw your other comments...whole valve body replacement then 😅
@gamingaccount3382 personal experience- I changed one valve but didn't know what I was doing and took the wrong bolts apart. Take pics and videos along the way so you know... follow the link in description for procedure and bolts to touch. There's a few that hold the body together. I took the body apart and didn't put back together and almost messed the whole Trans up. Then I decided to replace whole body with new and haven't had an issue since. If you can get it out and just remove the solenoids then go for it but read reviews before purchase. 80 bucks for one valve is worth a shot if it fixes. If not then the 900 dollars will 100% fix it if you have solenoid codes. I spent nearly a grand for the new valve body at a local subaru dealership. I still have the old one and all solenoids should read good but I assembled it incorrectly.
@@supernova9088 thank you. Seriously.
@gamingaccount3382 I also would recommend checking out subaru outback forums dot com. Very knowledgeable people there
