Huge props to lermy. I'm sure the backlash on the initial 11.6 was really hard to deal with. To turn around and commit to doing something big like reverting 9.5 shows how dedicated her and her team really are. Very selfless and hard working. Much respect.
Lermy seems cool but i just wish she had a bigger imagination when it comes to abilities. Her gods often feel like old 2013 gods or something. Ishtar 1 and Nut herself though are pretty nice 🤷♀️
exactly, and when they release an actual good god, they rework it by making it braindead (persephone). From their last 50 gods they released, the only ones that are interesting are: ix chel, clio, yemoja, and maybe maman, tiamat, maui. That's literally it. Their latest gods have been the most uninspired, boring and bland shit. Like just look at LoL and DotA, and take some inspiration, please.
@@3lietechhack646 While I can't speak too much on comparison with League and Dota, the bit I do know would incline me to agree with you generally. Though, with Smite trying as hard as it has to be new-player friendly, I can't say I'm too surprised. One thing I want to quickly note though is that of the past 50 gods, would you not consider any of the following interesting? : Cthulhu, Nut, Atlas, Tsukuyomi, Baba Yaga, Set, King Arthur, Baron Samedi, Artio, Morrigan, Charon, Martichoras, Shiva, Morgan, Mulan, Heimdallr, Merlin, Kuzenbo. I feel like many that I've listed seem around as interesting if not more interesting than Clio or Maui.
@@c-simile1632 When I said last 50, i just threw in a random number. I didn't go and check the literal last 50 gods. I was just talking from memory. But basically, to me, the last couple years have been pretty bland in term of god designs. Cthulu, nut, atlas, marti, shiva, artio and morgan are extremely bland though. They're extremely one dimensional, with not much skill expression. Shiva cthulu and artio are probably one of the most boring gods in the entire game. I really can't understand how you'd list them. Set, king arthur, baron, and charon are great, I agree. I didn't think of them. The rest, meh. Maybe. For clio, the fact that you can go in walls is just great. Her kit flows together, and her passive is extremely original. It doesn't need to have a high skill ceiling btw. Clio isn't really that hard to play or master. But she makes use the walls, something that no other characters does, in a cool way. Maui is fun because of what you can do with his 2, and how you can save a teammate, and do wacky stuff with it. It usually only works in comms though, but I play with friends usually, so that's not an issue. Horus is also a good example. His ult is fun, and allows for really cool plays. That's what I care about. The more different a god feels the better. Like what's the difference between morgan le fay, discordia, scylla or poseidon. They're all pretty similar. You do damage from afar, and try to hit your combo, with some setup from your teammate maybe. And I only named a few, there are far more like that. It's fine when you have some gods that are similar, but when most of your gods in a specific class are this way, and only a handful offer some interesting and original mechanic, it becomes boring and repetitive for me. DotA has so many cool and weird mechanics for so many of their heroes. Of course you'll find some similarities between some, but *many* have unique mechanics that are only available to them. It makes the game far more diverse than smite.

The most detailed description of the design process I've heard. Pretty sweet!
Imagine pushing out 2 patches in 1 day with only a team of 2 developers on Smite 1
Lermy is goated
Lermy is the goat. I wish every game designer showed as much passion and effort as she does.
Devs like her give me confidence in Smite 2

Yeah god kit design is one of smites biggest weaknesses compared to the competition. Lacks inspiration and creativity.

Not every god in smite can be state of the ark unfortunately
