Thanks JJ! Love your enthusiasm, allow me to clarify a few things. The Smart Sequential Road Flares come in sets of 4, 6 and 10. They are also manufactured and built in the USA and come with a 2 year warranty. They're Powered by a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery (1500 fully depleted charge cycles) expected use is 5+ years. These are extremely cost effective and very affordable for any size department, even volunteer fire departments. There is no specification by any DOT across all 50 States that would make these outlawed on the roads or highways, and the DOT is currently using this product. And yes, these are approved under FMCSA 393.95 !

Great product and fantastic idea, synced lights grab the motorist's attention and direct them through the scene while not producing the "dancing/busy" affect most electronic road flares offer. Each kit only includes five pieces though and anyone that deals with traffic knows one kit alone isn't going to be very useful. Most city's and County governments aren't as regulated when it comes to traffic devices but most States and the Interstate Highways have strict guidelines even for the proper placement of traffic cones including how far apart the cones are placed and even the minimum distance a single lane shift requires and I can tell you, when you start adding up how many kits it would take to meet those requirements, your talking about a few thousand minimum and it goes up from there. While I'm aware this took a lot of time & money to realize the final product, this system is overpriced or at the very least outpriced for most. Volunteer Fire Departments struggle just to meet the demands placed on them with the ever shrinking budget that most continue to face. Only a few large Agencies or Departments could afford such a purchase. The smaller, less funded Departments, organizations and the average motorist certainly can't afford that price tag and they need the protection these light offer just as much as the professional first responders. One can only hope that advances in technology will afford to the manufacturer to produce this item at a lower price and the savings passed on to the consumer so that more people could afford the enhanced safety this product offers. Until then it's back to the revolving light show of the completely affordable puck style flares for now.

This design approach should be taken for all emergency vehicle warning light arrays. They are the most effective visual communication to motorists of the EV's direction and rate of motion and are unmistakably related to the one vehicle. The 'christmas tree' of random out of phase (haphazard) flashing lights are distracting, hard to interpret for approaching drivers and obscure distance and motion information.

Genius loves company! Dagwood, you have put in a few words what it has taken us years to convey. And in fact, the catalyst for the company's founding. Upon approaching an incident on a high speed roadway, I became confused by strobe-lilke flashing lamps coming at me from all directions. I didn't need to be warned...that an incident was unfolding was obvious. What I needed was to be guided around it. And confusion at 70 mph is not a good thing. Thanks for your spot-on comment.
