    Hello I’ve been doing largemouth bass for a few years now self taught through video’s and a local taxidermys I’m like you it’s just a hobby do it in my spare time a few years ago I was talking to a guy at Mckenzie about preserving fish and he told me 1 gallon of water 1 court of denatured alcohol and 1cup bore axe and 1 cup of lemon pine-Sol leave it overnight and it’s ready so far I haven’t had any problems.

      Hey Steve nice to meet you! Thanks for the input pal I will have to check that out for sure! I’m thinking the lemon will give it a little more pleasant smell to work with!

      Hook and Claw yeah they smell like Lemons lol so far haven’t had one problem doing it like that. It was bad when I first started I didn’t know anything and use dish soap dawn lol didn’t work to good. But I learned from it lol and if you want Beatles to start a Conley for skulls that’s a good way to get them because they got all in it . Don’t know where they come from eaither.

    12 hours in a water/ turpentine bucket to strip all the oils. wash in clean water then into a mix of water and denatured alcohol with a cup of borax per gal for 24-48 hours then mounting has always given me awesome shrink free and very little yellowing results

    What proof dose the denatured alcohol have to be I found a gallon of it on Amazon that was 200 proof would that work?

    Is 50% ethyl alcohol and 50% distilled water used?
    Is sodium borate not used with this method?

    How long can you keep it in there

      And so you do 1 gallon alcohol and one gallon of water is that correct

      As long as you need to, there is no expiration as long as you make sure the lid is sealed tight.

    so that's all you use ? 1 gallon of water and one gallon of denatured alcohol and leave it in it for 7 days?
