I haven’t played volleyball in 6 years but I miss it so much , I left after leaving the school team which is my biggest regret... I miss it everyday I miss serving. I remember trying out for my 7th grade volleyball team and I was scared that I wasn’t gonna make it, but I ended up getting put on the A team. I remember crying because I’ve been playing volleyball sense 2012 for 4 years and I played ever season and told myself I was gonna make it on the volleyball team and I did. I through all that hard work for me to stop playing .
I plan on just joining a club as ive been interested in playing volleyball and according to a friend that actually plays, im good at the basics for a beginner. I'm a little worried about my height though, im 5'10 and i wanna be a setter.
Ur height will rly come in handy as u get older and play at a higher level! U being tall will rly help you when playing front row and blocking at the net too!
i've taken an interest in volleyball the past 3 months i've been lifting, stretching and excersicing for it and actually been training my serves and sets alone ;< im in a good shape but i've been doing nothing the past 2 weeks thank you coach!
Thanks for this video! It would really help a lot for me. Im planning to get back practicing volleyball again. I haven't played for almost 2 and half years. I was a varsity player from HS-College and even after I got a baby I still played from open and invitational game. But I stopped after pandemic. And now planning to get back in shape since I was invited to play again.
Love these tips! I plan to start working out again. Practicing drills, watching game and technique videos etc. then for light practice ill run a couple grass games with friends, by spring I should be ready to transition back into indoor play. Thanks for this Donny!
Super helpful reminders, thank you! I’ve been working out and doing some athletic conditioning as well as occasionally peppering/doing drills. I just started playing sand and grass a couple times a week in the past month also. But still planning to keep these things in mind when I finally get to set foot on that sweet hardwood court again 😩
awesome video! any recs for workouts/exercises to ease back in, specifically targeting the core to prep for the whipping and twisting motions while hitting/blocking? i threw out my back years ago and am always worried about it when trying to get back into the game. thanks!
Hey coach! I was thinking about doing your covid-19 quarintine jump workout #1 to get stronger and improve my jumps. And I was thinking of eventually transitioning from workout #1 to the intermediate-advanced home workout #4. How long should I train with the first workout routine before changing to the more advanced version? I want to make sure I don't switch into more advanced workouts and potentially not be ready for it or accidentally injure myself. Love the content and this channel coach! Keep up the great work!!
I've been playing beach volleyball (sand court) as an alternative. Though we came in fewer numbers and the difference in play style from indoors, i got to get some reps.
Hi coach Donny! What should we do with our legs and left arm (non-spiking arm) when are up in the air ready to hit? I see some of the players keep their arms straight when jumping up, like Nishida or Josh but many others don't seem to care about the left arm at all. I mean does the left arm help to provide extra momentum when trying to spike? Cuz if I swing my left arm down really fast, it helps me to bend my whole body or to rotate. And also what do we do with our legs? Some bring their heels near their hips. Is this done naturally or deliberately?
Michael Lin I was taught by my coaches to use my left arm to aim as if I was finding the ball with my left hand so that when you swing, your right hand hits the space where the ball is going to be.
I was taught that we swing our left arm up along with the right to keep the momentum and to jump higher. As for the legs I think their heels just happen to hit their hips as some players unconsciously bend their backs more to add more force to their spikes. Sometimes I did that for power but not all of the time since I played more with my wrist when spiking.
i haven’t played in a month and feel like i lost everything. i was a pretty good player now i feel like i’m shit at it and might not even make the team
I’m 5’3 I got into volleyball during quarantine and I’m not that good compared to my friends who been playing and I wanna join the volleyball club when I go to 7th grade I also never joined any sports before......andddddddd not in best shape 😂
Same here.... I wasnt into sports but i've been chosen to join basketball in intrams even though i dont know how to play basketball. It turned out embarrassing. I didnt get to score, i tripped 3 times. It sucks when your a begginner, but im physically weak too. And i chose volleyball because i wanted to junp high, join varsity and dunk in the future hahaha.
whats sad is i finally got vaccinated to play volley again, but all of my friends suddenly changed to badminton so im left alone. Im struggling to find someone to play with.
This is great except I can’t afford to buy this program. I guess I’m just going to stick to chloe tings free workout or find free workouts that can help me improve my volleyball skills.

wait, about the left arm, I think i just want to ask about if we keep it straight when trying to jump up

Nice coach after a long time stuck in a house with no physical activity
Your the man Donny!!!

Going in for ACL reconstruction soon, so I'll need this in a year ;_;
If you want a different look on the game of volleyball i reccomend haikyuu(manga) tho technical part comes in later in the series
