George, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned not having a lot as a child or having items taken away from us as children. as part of healing my inner child I relish these nostalgic items which represent my lost childhood innocence. thank you saying that.
I grew up in the 60s when old things weren't being prized. Everybody wanted new and plastic.I think that is why I love old things. Also watching shows like Dark Shadows. I think I spent more time watching the set design than I did the actors. I loved the things they had in the house - and the costumes.
So excited to see this episode! Moving nearby, and just starting to scope out the local thrift and antique scene. Our "new" house was built in 1853, and there's lots of room to fill! ❤ Give us a ping, you're more than welcome to stay a night or three.
So wish I could download your brain, George, even just for an hour or two! 😂 In all seriousness, appreciate all you do to educate us vintage AND the modern peeps. I had a yard sale this weekend and was tickled when some older teens/possibly early 20's boys/young men TOTALLY geeked out on a vintage GE radio I had for sale. They were STOKED! Quite a highlight of the weekend. ❤
I’ve been fooled a few times by wanna be Blue Mountain pottery lol. Don’t feel bad George , I’m Canadian and am supposed to know Blue Mountain like the back of my hand 😂 . Another enjoyable vlog . I wish I had all of your knowledge .
My Dad loved his Oldsmobiles. When he would buy a new one, the dealer gave him a small plastic model of the same car which my Dad let me have. Of course they are all long gone. I really enjoyed this video, George. Thank you!
07:50 THe Manoil/Barclay toys were the first thing I sold on eBay, back when you could take paper checks. My late dad bought them as a kid in the 1930s and never played with them much. We had more fun selling them. Found a few I never sold and tried at the end of 2022. Bottom had fallen out of the market; I stil; have them.
I love your antique shopping videos! My Dad loved antiques and bought quite a few. The day he came home with a huge oxen yoke was a fun day! She just looked at it & said "Where are we going to put that thing?!" Great memories!
That basketball and net lamp was what pop art was all about. That yellow lamp was so unique that I think I would have picked it up. 9:17 I was just researching that Hazel Atlas cocktail shaker with fish (Just bought one this weekend at a garage sale.) while watching/listening to this video and lo and behold there it is in this video!! I always see channels skipping the books, and that's one place I would be buried. I'm always on the lookout for design and architecture books. I had that acrylic base globe just until recently.
The early red viking glass was a very good price, and once again you show off things I now want! Antique blue Cambridge glass, and the Tiffin Twilight. I like Dave :) Thanks for taking us along.
I watch your videos religiously. Thanks for all the great information! I am a tiny reseller on Ebay and was wondering if you've ever heard of an scam where the artist comes to the listing of their own work looking for a deal or something. I have a nice art glass paperweight listed and the artist messaged me saying his grandkids would really love the piece he made 40 years ago. I just replied that it was a beautiful piece, thinking he's fishing. (the artist is still alive) Just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience or if my artist may be real.
Good evening, George! I really liked that sewing basket. That Hubbly refrigerator bank would've been too tempting for me. I liked that, and it wouldn't take a lot of space. There was a one pound note there, from Jamaica. I want a British one pound note. A friend gave me a fiver, but the one pound notes seem more difficult to find. I want one with Queen Elizabeth II on it. Loved that case that had the charms in it. I'd like to have an old lightning rod like that. $55.00 seemed a good price. The would be a fantastic mall in which to spend the day. Thanks for the take-along!
Wasn't the basket cool? I would've liked to have seen the original contents. I've been collecting QEII low denomination bills from Canada of late, I didn't notice the Jamaican one but I had to limit myself so Oh Canada it is. Love finding lightning rods in the midwest where they still don't think anything of them!
@@TheAntiqueNomad I would've probably liked to have that sewing box _and_ its original contents. For some reason, I really like antique and vintage sewing items.
Seems like their prices were mostly right on. It was fun to see the everyday items then right next to them would be a $700. Piece! I do hope you get to go back there to explore this wonderful shop❤
What an amazing place to get lost in ❤ Hi George! I think my favorite piece was that big metal lamp, I think it was orange and black, like a fantasy flower...so very unique. I f I had the place for it, I'd find the money lol. And some beautiful glass pieces. The viking was pretty. But my eyes were drawn to the outlet clear handkerchief with a handle in the corner. It looks like a very delicate piece.
Interesting the clear piece caught your eye! I think people are so obsessed with colored glass that they forget that you need a little clear in a display to let the eye rest and to balance it out, I liked that piece too
@@TheAntiqueNomad I keep hearing the thrifters saying they want to bring back clear glass, but they still aren't putting it in their carts and showing it, really adding that sizzle to the steak. I'm afraid so much of it is going through Goodwill and is going to end up on the dumps broken.
Really was taken by the Sailing Ship piece. Praise to the man who put that together 🙏🏻 My mother actually bought my brother the Cut Plug tin at a swap meet here in town in the 80s! His was smaller than the one Dave spoke about. What an exciting place you visited🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Oh dear! Tell me you got the charm bracelet work cabinet! I want that cabinet! Charms, too. Heck I’d make the charm bracelets. Probably didn’t have enough room. 😢 I can relate to some of the stuff that “got taken away”. My step mom was good at that. Getting rid of stuff: Several albums of 78 records from my grandmas house. A hat rack from the 1800’s that hat buffalo horns to hang your hat on Most of my cool toys. They magically disappeared when we moved. No consultation or choice in the matter.
Hi George, great video. I was at Jeffery’s about a month ago; stopped there on my way home from Michigan where I was visiting my brother. I got some great treasures while there.
Was that a whole table of salt cellars? I love them. You should have bought the purple and yellow Oddfellows. All you need is a wizard's hat and you are all set. Those banjo clocks should be worth more. Sad that they have never really had any value. Great for decorators - their oblong size makes them great to tuck into small spots. I have one with reverse painted ships. I have it on a piece of wall between two doors that is very narrow. Looks perfect. And I would love to eventually find a lightning rod - have never seen one.
I agree about the banjo clocks, they all seem to still run too! I wanted the Oddfellows togs but what would I do with them? (Sell, I guess.) I only see lightning rods in the Midwest and they all sell in the northwest!
I have 3 kimono. I have my mother's dress form in my bedroom and occasionally I switch out what kimono I display. I even had her prom dress from 1950 on it for a while. Luckily it is an adjustable one. I would display an Oddfellows robe. I don't find many people other than collectors buying clocks though. And banjo clocks don't interest them unless they are good names like Willard or Jerome. They really aren't interested in the Ct. Manufacturers like Seth Thomas and stuff. Too common. So they are kind of hard to sell. I just found my husband's two large scale escapement models - one off's made in Switzerland for Bulova. They are gorgeous and truly rare. Already sold them. They get picked up next weekend. I need some pics first. @@TheAntiqueNomad
Funny what you said about penguins. I went to a yard sale years ago and on the table were quite a few penguins in glass and pottery. After picking out the best the old woman that was selling them asked if I wanted to see her real one. She had a taxidermied emperor penguin her father had brought fr the artic. She asked if I thought 75 dollars was too much to ask..... I bought it. It was I central NJ.
Hi George , do you have lists of antique and vintage shops that became your favorites? Would you be willing to share some of your favorite thrifting sites? Ex- headed to north Florida, where shouldn’t I miss? Thrifting is harder to find by me, so I’m always excited to try new places. Thanks George. Maybe consider writing a book - or a couple books!
I have that liquor dispenser, with all the original shot glasses. The finish is in excellent condition, but I can’t get the pump working and can’t tell why. If you know anyone who needs the shot glasses, or parts, I’m here. 🙂
George, you have the most calming and soothing voice along with charm and knowledge with your descriptions, Jack
Thank you, Jack! That's very nice to hear
I did like and enjoyed your trip and information 😊

Love the wooden jewelry making chest!

Hey, that’s me at 4:40. I remember this so much. We still have that case too.
I appreciate how respectful you are to people, in terms of the oddfellows garments. What a place!
The giant lazy Susan was awesome. I would have snatched that up for $78.
Nice video. Love many of those items. OMG that desktop is beautiful.

Wooooot wooooot!
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to see your newest treasure hunting adventure!
I`m 20 minutes away. It would of been nice to met you. great shopping trip George
I go there a lot. Rarely come out empty-handed! Your knowledge amazes me! 2:31
My cousin had the Shari Lewis lunchbox in early elementary school. I loved the black patent leather. Thanks George!

Great video as always. I can’t wait to visit that mall and the Heart of Ohio.
George, you are brilliant and my go-to for antique knowledge.. I watched your visit with the crazy lamp lady. Wow, you both hit the jackpot there.
Time for another great adventure 🦩🌴🌞

Thanks!

Hi George
hope to come to one of your shows one day
Have you gone to the Maumee Antique Mall? It’s not too far away. Worth the trip.
How much is that magnificent chandelier. It's everything! And Omg! The Haegar pieces? How much?

I have the 1930s bar piece with glasses
Thumbs up folks ✌️👍👍👍👍✌️🦩🌴🌞
George, would you consider telling us each time that you are going to buy an item you show us? I know you do that sometimes. Curiosity! Thank you.
Not sure about the era just beautiful 🦩🌴🌞
That place seemed to have a lot of different items, which were great to see!🩷
I like variety!
Hello!
