Headed away with my mate Nathan on a trip we had been looking forward to for several months. Absolutely prime time for chasing Fallow and Reds. Hopefully there will be plenty of croaking and roaring up in the hills. Should be a very exciting few days and it's always great to share experiences like this with a good mate. We will be running a 308 and a 30-06, one topped with Swarovski glass and the other with a Pulsar C-50.
Awesome few days mate 👌. I'll have to get working on my version of events. Just to set a few things straight 😜
Can't say I didn't see that coming
Great video ! Lots of good info.
Thanks mate. 👊
What a hoot your weekend must’ve been. The two of you work really well together. A bit of humour take’s the video to another level as far as entertainment goes! Thanks Rob for your efforts to bring us quality videos. 👍🏻
My pleasure mate. Rob thanks you too. Lol
@@RJMHuntingAustralia haha sorry Rod my mistake Rod!
All good mate. Nathan calls me alot worse. 🤣
Hi again from South Africa. Awesome to see the two guys together that i follow on a regular basis. Good times guys. cheers
Thankyou mate. 👊
Excellent video
Thanks buddy 👊
the highlight for me is you being able to share it with us, thankyou
Really appreciate that mate 👊
What a video, you pair should do more like this, I also watch Steve and Lee "Bolt action" and to see a couple of mates enjoying each others company is great, good banter, I reco you've cut alot of that out pity, anyway can't wait for you and the Pro staff members next video 😎😎😎😎 oh how did that pig get away after Gday mate 🤣🐷
Yes, there was a lot of shit stirring footage on the cutting room floor. 🤣
Had to let piggy walk or spook the whole valley. His time will come soon enough 💥
Nice Rod ..Twinkle toes appeared .
fun times guys .. The red stags roar like Nathan eating 3 dirty bird rolls 😂
cheers good video
😅 thanks mate
I do like the banter, I have a couple of friends, a greeting usually consists of one raised finger and a cheery ef you.
Pmsl. Yeah. I can totally relate to that Graeme 🤣👌
excellent video, lots off chuckles, more of these please.
Thanks mate. Will do 👍
What a brilliant Mooch you both had....I didnt think you were gona shoot the first Buck/Stag it made me jump lol....Both stags were perfect specimens and they must of produced a lot of calves in their time...Did they need to be thinned out or shot just for meat...Lush meat is Venison...Our UK rutting season for the big red deer is October Autumn time....Did we English introduce Fallow Deer to Australia along with Rabbits Hares Pigs Feral Cats and what ever else....What a total dumb move on our part...No thought of the future...But you gain in a way ....Im so glad I stumbled on your channel beats the shit Ive been watching....Stay Safe..UK........................
Thanks mate.
The deer are an invasive species here in Australia and the government is doing everything in their power to cull them all.
During the rut we generally only trophy hunt due to the bucks being full of testosterone and they stink.
Well done. Always great to stir mates. Can't wait to see Nathan side if he puts a video out.
Haha. Not looking forward to that one. 🤦♂️
serious case of the jo blakes there Rod, nah seriously mate well done, I'd probably be ten times worse, congrats to both of you . 👍😎
Thanks mate. Early onset of parkinsons 🤣
Congrats Nathan on Pulsar Staff 👍🏻 😎
Great video story. Pair of cheeky buggers. Well Done. 😀👍
Lol. Thanks mate. All about enjoying it and having fun 👌
i love your vids, very funny start.,
Thanks mate 👊
You're so lucky being able to get access to such beautiful properties.
Definitely something I don't take for granted 💯 👌
Well done Rodney great video mate and what a awesome place you hunted and congratulations to Nathan you pair are great Blokes
Thanks champion.
Magnificent property.
Company was ok. 🤣
That was good Rodney, even watched it twice. Nice one.
Cheers Kevin. Glad you enjoyed it mate. 👊
Gotta love hunting the rut and walking the hills like you guys did is the best, I reckon you could have pulled a few out of hiding with a set of rattles though. Thanks for sharing.
We bloody tried mate. Rattled, croaked and doe called. They just didn't play the game 😖 Just the way it goes sometimes.
Cracking shot mate, well done on the PB! Always bloody good watching you both doing your thing and having a laugh! Some great content, thanks for the great footage mate!
Thanks Mitch. Always good to get away mate 👌
I'm not surprised with the adrenaline going after that shot Rodney. That's a cracking deer. That's was handy with Nathan their, someone to carry the meat home.
Hate to say it but I'm not keen on Rutty deer meat Paul.
Great work Rodney, top stuff as usual!!
Can't believe Hollywood as personal plates already🤣🤣🤣
Yeah. I did a good job 🤦♂️ I mean yeah, as if u would ay. 🤣
Don't mind watching Nathan's channel either. Getting to spend too much time on thermals though. Well done mate, looks like a great trip
Thanks mate. Certainly was a great trip Shane. 👍
I like the broken point off of that rack , he was a fighter..
He sure was. His ears were shredded too. 🤦♂️💪
Excellent stuff boys…👍👍
Thanks mate 👊
Awesome mate!
Much appreciated buddy 👊
Nice work there brother!! Enjoyed watching your hunt.... Sure love the antlers on your animals out there! So different from the mule deer and elk we have in our area. Excellent result!!
Thanks James. They are magnificent. I would love to see an Elk up close and a moose 👌
Nice doe calling on the chocolate buck, stopped him in his tracks.
Thankyou mate 👍
Hey hey Hollywood !
🤣 Stop it. 🤣
Loved the video mate and well done on the bucks!!!!
Thanks mate, can't wait to do it all again next year. 👌
Great vid guys, woulda been a wicked time 👌🏼
Thanks mate. It sure was 👊
Miss hunting so much. It's been about 40 odd years now. but this damned aneurysm on top of my heart, wont allow me to climb a slight grade, let alone a damned wooded hillside. But wth? I'm working on it, after all we're dead a long time. Plenty of time for rest then.. 🤣
Good on you mate. Keep at it 💪
Good shot RJM 👍🏻 Like the color!
Awesome stuff mate, I'm still a fan of "Hollywood" as a nickname to be honest 😂 congrats on the PB👍🦌💥
Thanks heaps buddy.
Lmao @ Hollywood 🤣
Great video mate. You've almost got me wanting to go deer hunting. Its something I've never really been that crazy about but my brother went and got his first trophy stag a big double 5 red the other week, and then see this. Maybe next year I might have to try and find a property with deer. Looks like fun.
You have to experience it dude. Gets ur heart racing being up close and personal to these magnificent animals. The thrill of the rut/roar is exactly that, thrilling.
I'm yet to experience the roaring reds, just need to find access to the right place. Definitely on my bucket list 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia might give it a go next year 👍 see how it works out.
Great episode lads! I bet Nathan has a Hollywood star in his hunting room with his name and Pro-Staff on it too 😂 👍🏻
I reckon he's got it printed on his pyjamas. 🤦♂️
@@RJMHuntingAustralia lol
another great video mate. Gotta let Nathan know some of your nicknames lol.
Some of. Lol. More than I can count. 😅
loved every minute of that lads. hahaha
Thanks mate. 👊
Nice work! I shot my first buck last week. Definitely need to chase fallow more often
Congrats mate. It's pretty exhilarating chasing them in the Rut.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia absolutely 👍
G'day mate!!! 👍🏻
Ur consistent. 🤣
@@RJMHuntingAustralia lol 😂 tyvm 👍🏻😎🐴❤️🤠🇨🇱
you really got the shakes. You're way more seasoned than I, so good to see i can justify my shakes when they happen. i get a bit fox feverish at home, not on the farms i shoot for, but at home it's always a race to the safe, and back out the front door. a fox dead at home is worth 10 foxes for others, and i've killed 6 in three weeks at home. good shot when you've got buck fever. it was so cool to hear all the croaking. great footage, what a peaceful property. private? great video guys, lets see if hollywood puts up a vid too. do you shoot at night? few pigs to sort out. sorry for the long message. enjoyed it too much.
Don't be sorry mate. Love it when u guys get involved. Got the shakes alright. Just put the pressure on myself as we had put in so much effort and it all culminated in that last moment. Felt like I was putting for a million dollars 🤦♂️. I was surprised at how much the adrenalin was pumping. Was sooo good. Makes u feel alive.
And yes, we smacked a heap of pigs after sundown with the thermal gear
@@RJMHuntingAustralia onya Rodney, been waiting for the vid. follow you blokes on FB.
Cheers Scott. Glad you enjoyed it mate. 👊
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Thermal gear? any advice for which monocular to buy? Will a budget $2500ish get it done or do I just need to keep saving for one of the 640x480 sensor models?
I do prefer the 640 image quality however a a 384 for faster target identification. Send me a pm if you would like to chat about it mate.
A+++ mates 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️😎
Gr8t hunt u 2 mates 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks buddy. Always fun and entertaining 🤣
Hey mate love the video,
Just wondering what projectiles your using out of the 30-06 in this video??
Cheers
Thanks mate.
Running 178gr Hornady ELDX.
did you know Santa's favourite food is venison steak.
You guys should come to SE Queensland chasing reds some time. They roar in March-April. The best thing about hunting deer in Queensland is there are no limits or season as they're a pest. Downside is you can only hunt private land.
Would be nice to get up that way some day mate. 👌
Awesome.
Cold can from the fridge. A smoke of Hash and I’m ready to goooooohh
Haha. Whatever works.
Another cracking video mate . Couple of nice bucks there mate. What hunter element pants are they..?
Thanks Damien. They are the Spur pants mate
Great vid, what shooting sticks are you using
They were Nathans. I will ask him for you Sam
Awesome video and congrats on the buck. What was the date that the deer stopped croaking for you? This year for me on my property in the Upper Hunter wasn’t a typical rut, from the 8th -14th April the big bucks weren’t croaking or holding does. Hopefully next year is better.
Frog pond on the 13th. Went pretty quiet on the 14th. 🤷♂️
Hey Rod, you didn't tell us you were out hunting with a TV celebrity - Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Karl Pilkington behind you at 12 minutes 30 seconds?
Haha. Does look like him ay. 🤣
Hi Rod, what hunters element jacket and pants style are the ones you wore in this vid please, next time i watch one of Nathans vids i will make a comment and say Hi Woody😂
Haha.
I was wearing the Spur pants and the Vantage hoodie Bob. 👌
You got yer vid up first mate. Not that you'd wanna rub that in too. Haha
Definitely not my style 🤣
I've got to get in quick, Nath has 10x more Subscribers so once they see his they probably won't watch mine. 😉
Mmmmm, Woody might stick 😂 Isn’t a Staff just a big stick anyway? 😜
It most certainly is 🤣
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Always good to watch your video first to get a grasp of what really went on. Who’s the guy at the end doing voice over for you? 😂 Might first blood a new bang bang on deer Friday. Thanks for showing me the ropes 😉
Just a tubby fella with a limp. 🤣 pmsl
Good luck on Friday champ 🤞
Cracker trip mate! Awsome to watch.
Thanks mate. More story than my usual videos. Nice to do something different 👊
Poor Nathan, I’ve commented that Woody has become a soft, latte drinking lefty that now deals with the high end of town being sponsored while you and I enjoy a cold Carlton Draught🤪
Lol
How do you rate them shooting stick mate ?
They were perfect for this style of hunting.
For everything else I run a carbon fibre tripod mate.
Sorry mate but my grandma used to wear stockings like Nathan was wearing
Did your mate get that other Deer he went after?
No luck with the other fella. That's hunting 👌
I hope you don’t mind mate but I’m going to give Woody a bit of grief if that’s ok
Not at all. He's a big boy even if a little sensitive
I hope you and Nathan aren’t sharing a twister together 😳
Lol. Nah mate. I don't do twisters. They're a bit nancy. Prefer the ol bucket of dirty bird myself 🤣
been hunting and fishing all my life dont get it who cares what dumb animal you kill
Everyone has an opinion that's for sure. I aim to be as ethical as possible. It's hard going in Australia with all the anti's and strict regulations. Makes it even more essential to be professional
Were u using a silencer
Yes. On the 308, not the 30-06
@@RJMHuntingAustralia
How can we apply for a silencer here in nsw ? Is there a big process ?
Quite an involved process even as a contract shooter mate.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia
So it can't be used for just recreational hunting
Can a contract shooter be as a letter from a farm owner ? .
Great video
Thank you mate 👊
