***** evil? How so? We stopped the slave trade after all. Bad things happen with or without empires, but like the Roman empire before it, the British empire left many, many positives in it's wake...
Are we still evolving? - what kind of silly question is that? Of course we are! Anyone who knows a thing about science will know that evolution never stops, it is continuous. There is no 'end goal' in the process - just adaptation to the environment. Basic, basic science here.
Watch out. I believe you are treading the line between evolution and natural selection. Whenever you talk about the environment, you are talking about natural selection.
Natural selection is the process behind evolution. That is universally accepted among the scientific community. Trust me, I did a biology degree - I'd hope I know what I'm talking about!
I am aware that natural selection is a product of evolution. It just sounded like you were mixing the two. Just because you "did" a biology degree doesn't mean you have one. ;)
I actually lost iq points after reading these comments, so far i haven't found a single comment that provides a valid argument against evolution... No, stating a quote from the bible isn't valid.
Kam Joe mammals evolved from synapsids, synapsids were animals that had traits of mammals and reptiles. apes including humans are mammals. evolution is not a dog giving birth to a new species it is a dog giving birth to a slightly genetically different dog. same with every single animal in history. every single animal has given birth to the same species as, it. when populations split new lineages are made. no monkeys made humans, we are a totally separate lineage. humans and chimps came from a common ancestor but when the ancestor split into other populations they were not suddenly humans and chimps, they would still have looked identical to the common ancestor but since they were separated they would have become more genetically different as time went on. eventually becoming modern humans and chimps. humans and chimps are just names, they are not actually real as in they are just name tags. so now you can see that your problem *"mutated monkey needed another mutated monkey of opposite sex to give the first offspring of human"* makes no sense at all.
The mere purpose of that evolution theory is tell us humans that there is no God and such thing called creator, according what you just said is we came from common Ancestor , so there is no creation, based on that the theory of Adam and Eve is a myth. The evolution theory by its name implies it is just theory and nothing to support it.. When all animals including humans die and you check their ashes , it is all the same and all coming from one source (mud). but this does not mean all animals are the same. bottom line, creation theory and God involvement make more sense than the theory of , it just happened.
Kam Joe You are really ignorant of science and evolution.... i think you just want to believe in your god and thats it, you don't care about the truth, evidence or facts. I don't know how you can honestly be debating this when you don't know jack about it. If so you should just stay in your bubble and never comment on science videos again.. you should probably never use technology either. You don't even know what you are arguing against...
Kam Joe i accept gravity, not believe in it. just like evolution. they are not beliefs. i wouldn't be able to describe it accurately "scientifically" without googling. i am not that smart i went to a christian school where my teachers believed earth is young.
I feel like this completely misses the basic premise of evolution. Evolution is not pushing us towards some higher form or making us smarter or stronger or anything else. Evolution is simply a measurement of change that has occurred in a species as it is subjected to environmental pressures over generations. "Survival of the fittest" doesn't mean being actually fit in terms of health, it means fit as in best fits into its environment. Intelligence is certainly not one of the traits that nature commonly selects for. The fittest forms of life are bacteria, as they have fit into their environment for billions of years. We can say that humans are highly evolved because we have changed drastically from our bacterial ancestors, but that evolution is not necessarily an improvement.
logicisonmyside Well that's not exactly true, we pass on immunity through our genes all the time, it's one of the fastest developing traits. That benefits us greatly.
yeah but that is at a loss of genetic information. It's basicly saying we get benefits, BUT we have to lose something to achieve that. never just gaining a benefit on its own. there is always a sacrifice
logicisonmyside umm, well if you want to get really technical, you are usually right. there will almost always be a down side because you will have to use more energy on the cellular level to make enzymes that have additional mechanisms, or to use more of this and that in the cell, but it is not correct as a principal. there are several adaptations that fall under the category of optimisations, that are just plain better versions of what they once where. also, immunities are not principally deletions. many immune factors are additions or mutations genetically speaking. I dont mean to be harsh, but maybe you should do some more research before talking about this stuff.
Bacteria have fit into their environment for billions of years because they are the first organisms in existence, not because they are the fittest. Also, Bacteria comprise an entire domain, the highest rank in taxonomy, which is unfair to compare to smaller ranked clades like species.
do you believe in DNA? do you believe in DNA mutations? do you believe there are some mutations that are good, some that are bad and some that have no effect? do you believe that organisms with good mutations are more likely to survive than organisms with bad mutations? do you believe that this will continue to go on for generations and produce many new DNA combinations? Congratufuckinglations you believe in evolution
I had a college professor who actually brought in human skulls dating from thousands of years ago to now. And lined them up in order of date. The entire class realized that human skulls appear to actually be shrinking the closer you get to modern times. Rather interesting to think about.
Fellow illuminati member Organisms don't evolve. Populations do! If we stop reproducing then evolution stops. Or if we take reproduction into our own hands. In that case, if we artificially select traits I suppose it's still evolution just not naturally occurring.
I feel like that is unfair. I am going to get yelled at, but I'll say what's on my mind anyhow. I believe in God, but I also believe in Evolution. Make fun of me if you wish, or whatever, I don't care. Religious and Non-Religious doucebags like you make me angry.
We have a larger supply of food, and we eat differently than we used to. Global warming is changing our environments. Technology has altered our everyday life. And not to mention all the mixing of nationalities/ethnic groups, which was once not as acceptable and not nearly as common as it is now. Evolution is the outcome =]
although controversial, dont forget that there are people who exist today who are weak and mentally deficient. if it wasnt for our good and civilized society these people would not be able to or would die before procreation. you might scream darwinism but the fact is it existed and still exists to this day in animals. im not saying those people shoudnt procreate but them doing so might add in more mutations.
what i love about facts and science is that you don't have to believe them for them to be considered the truth. Its not about what is believed, its about what is, period.
Let me fix that for you: Science: 1 Creationists: 0 The majority of christians believe in evolution. Stop generalizing christians just because of a tiny minority of loud-mouthed Creationists.
SirLamaOFkatania Irrefutable evidence like the snow ice in the arctic, the age of the universe determined by the speed of light and background radiation, and trees that are older that the supposed genesis story would allow, oh and fossil records of dinosaurs everywhere. If you don't believe in one chapter of the bible, why cant you start to think critically about the others?
Keegan Maloney The bible is not a history book. It was written 2000 years ago, by people(NOT God). The bible is just about how the christians back then though everything worked(I haven't actually ever read the bible by the way). I'm a christian. And I believe that God just simply started it all(13.7 billion years ago), where after he simply let everything go it's own path. On a side note: I used to be an atheist :3
To those saying something like "if evolution was real, why are there still monkeys?" We are not directly descended from monkeys, we just share a common ancestor. Evolution isn't based on the overpower of a species, like one species doesn't replace another when it evolves. Groups of a singular species split (by natural or other reasons), and through time they become a new species genetically different from the original. These new species are similar to the other that they descended from, but are genetically different and may hold different physical characteristics. And evolution doesn't happen in the drop of a hat, it takes a VERY long time, through gradual change. These changes also ones decided by natural selection, the traits that the surviving members of a species share.
You guys should do an episode on the primordial gravitational wave discovery. I saw it in the news and had no idea what it meant but it's supposed to be super important :)
But animals are not "definition coiners" too. "Non-human animals" is a bit needlessly cumbersome when the language had already invented the term, "animals."
The genesis story is incompatible with irrefutable evidence like the snow ice in the arctic, the countless fossil records of dinosaurs, the age of the universe as determined by the existence of background radiation and the speed of light, trees that have been around longer than the supposed date of the earth, etc... if you dont believe in an entire chapter of the bible, then why can't you start to think critically about the rest of the book?
POWER TO THE BLUE-EYED PEOPLE! I heard somewhere though that people with blue eyes are also more sensitive to sunlight, so it's both an advantage and a downfall.
People (as well as animals) with blue eyes are more photosensitive. We actually had to get our blue eyed dog Doggles for when we go hiking because otherwise her eyes end up bright red and she has more eye boogies than on normal lazy days.
Alana Street not true sorry but your eyes is blue because of the genes mutation that occured very Long ago and the sky is blue because of the scatters of light Ray from the sun and the eyes having 3 coloured cones
Of course we're still evolving. Each generation is slightly more different than the last. Each change is so little that it's hardly noticeable. I'm pretty sure our brains will continue to increase in size with how it seems like our rational thinking is what's being mostly used ever since humans have developed the ability to make decisions, leading up to the makings of the first hand-tools.
Lexyvil I acctually think I found out from a DNews video a while ago, search it up on google, there is a ton of websites explaining why our brain is shrinking.
+Franco C I got blue eyes too and always had great night vision. I find I see better at night than people who eat carrots all the time... so that carrot thing helping people see in the night must be BS
It's funny how religious people believe humans were put here by "magic man" 6,000 years ago. But fail to believe evolution, which has real physical proof, and is also 100x more logical than "poofing into existance". Man i don't even know what to say again. It's ridiculous how some people are still this dense in this modern day and age .-.
Evolution makes sense, but can't really be proven. That is the creationist's argument. That could be true if they had a better hypothesis, one they could explain. "God did it" doesn't fill that gap. It's actually kind of a shitty explanation.
Gongasoso "Kind of shitty"? More like totally unverifiable and full of shit! Let me draw you a reference of how stupid this is. Lets say your pet dog suddenly vanished one morning, 2 police officers came and both had their own hypothesis of what happened. First one said "I think your dog was stolen from your yard sir". Second one says "I think a cloud came alive and flew down from the sky picked up your dog, and ate him" Which makes more sense? Lol not even a question at all.
Gongasoso It can be proven, the problem is creationists look at the evidence and say "Well we weren't there to know for sure that dogs came from wolves." They fail to realize that you don't have to physically be at the exact moment of when there was significant change amongst a species to declare it being another before you can actually do so. This thing called genealogy realllllly fucking confuses creationists. Especially when we go about saying things like, "we don't even need a fossil record to know that evolution is true." That and they don't understand that micro evolution and macro are both evolution just at different time scales. If we can show microscopic life changing and developing new traits to adapt to an environment this is evidence of evolution happening. And we can even do this with other creatures. The chiclids in Africa are a great example. They surveyed the isolated lake of the various species of chiclids 50+ years ago, and upon doing another survey we are seeing variations emerge in large populations that were not there before. This rapid evolution is because there are a lot of species in an closed off area. Lots of pressure to change and adapt in order to survive.
let them believe whatever they want, science keeps moving forward! also an anchor can slow down progress, but sometimes that is exactly what mankind needs.(not like in the middle ages big, but somewhere in between)
I think some people here failed to understand the difference between evolution and mutation. We are all evolving but some of us, that have moved to different areas of earth over time have mutated, hence losing pigmentation due to the lack of sunlight blocked by excess clouds.
Thinking blue eyes is purely just a means of attracting a mate... here's why: Choice between a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes vs. no hair and red eyes with a raspy voice... what am I saying? I'd go for the demon girl. Obviously she's kinky.
LOL I don't know, I don't think would go for the demon chick if she was bald, I mean she might be kinky as hell but if I was to play with her I'd be like "Yo, gotta put a wig on that" XD
People with blue eyes are indeed not 'more evolved' than people with brown eyes. It's just adaptation to climate. In nordic countries (where blue eyes originated), there isn't much sun. Less sun = less pigment needed.
"You know that factually based theory that I cannot comprehend because my parents shoved the word 'GOD' down my throat since I could walk? Yeah, it's not real because I can't understand the concept that humans evolved WITH monkeys from a common ancestor, instead I think it says that our greatgreatreatgreatgreatgreat(plus a few million more)greatgtreat grandad was a monkey. I also don't understand that if we evolve why don't other animals? Instead I think it's better to believe in a book written 500 hundreds years AFTER the events happened, written by many different people who we don't know that actually ever met, between 3 and 1 thousand years ago. Not to mention the first person to meet 'God' suffered severe head trauma *right* before it happened. That book is pure *gold*! I love it! The book of mass slaughter, rape, theft, gay burning, adultery, murder, perversion. Oh, it's beautiful! And it's much easier for me to believe because it doesn't need to have any factual value! Instead we use this word, 'faith' which basically means that we believe it word for word just because! We don't actually need to understand anything! it's awesome. You should try it, and help us ram it down children's throat to corrupt them with the word, 'GOD' before they can make up their own mind." *CHRISTIANS*
Are humans smarter or is the baseline that we are born into higher? Would a baby brought to present day from 5,000 years ago have a harder time with technology than a baby born now? I find this unlikely. It seems like we are mistaking the standing on the shoulders of giants with some kind of innate genius. Basically someone has an epiphany, we make a new discovery, and the baseline for society rises. The next generation isn't "smarter", that is to say, they aren't inherently better at learning and understanding than the generation prior. At least that's been my view of the topic.
KillerCombow over "100,000 year's" yes not over 5,000 any meaningful change in skull sizes would be very hard to do in that time frame the only real proof that we are smarter is maybe that we eat a lot batter today and therefor can reach more of are genetic potential but that's questionable at beat. no way is it a large change in our DNA like what would be needed for a increase in skull size of that order.
actually there has been studies done in just the last century that sugguests that our brains are getting smaller and more neuron dense, allowing for faster processing. this means that it his highly likely that within the last 2-5 thousand years there would be a measurable difference in intellectual capacity. Far from conclusive though.
Well... technically an individual is incapable of evolving; it's a concept only applied to a group or species. But I certainly hope those 126 people won't be a part of the gene pool.
I'd like a study done on actual AFRICAN people, like comparing the ancestors to the present population. I mean all these studies on white Europeans are quite predictable honestly
INTJ-Skorpyo7 _my point is that almost 1/3 of caucasian europeans aren't white. they're tanned/light brown. greeks for example aren't white. saying white europeans excludes almost 33% of europeans_ Ok then, seeing as how only albinos are white, I'd like to see where you are getting your data that 66% of Europeans are albinos. _if that's not racist_ You're nitpicking over minor variations in skin tone, and saying that those variations aren't white because they're tanned or light brown. Meanwhile, only albinos are white. You're drawing lines in the sand that not even members of Stormfront, the KKK, or other racist organizations will draw. _White is not a fucking race.._ Technically, there's no such thing as race. You see, the concept of race as we know it started with a man by the name of François Bernier and his book _Nouvelle division de la terre par les différentes espèces ou races l'habitant._ In the time period that he wrote this book, the word race was used synonymously with the word species. In fact, the term "race" didn't even come to be distinct from "species" until well after Darwin's time, because even he used the term "race" to refer to what we now call "species". So, we now know that the "races" are not in fact different species. Ergo, there are no races. People who draw lines in the sand between human beings and say "you're on that side becaise you're that race, and I'm on this side because I'm this race" are not just racists, but science denialists. This includes most SJWs, most political conservatives, and you.
INTJ-Skorpyo7 _albinism is a disease_ No, it's a mutation. You know what else is a mutation? Blue eyes, blonde hair, etc. _Albinos were long-skulled (or dolichocephalic), tall in stature, and possessed pale hair, eyes and skin. Mediterraneans were long-skulled (or dolichocephalic), short/medium in stature, and possessed dark hair, eyes and skin. While Alpines were round-skulled (or brachycephalic), stocky in stature, and possessed intermediate hair, eye and skin color._ Uh... Albinos don't have pale hair, eyes, and skin. They have unpigmented hair, unpigmented eyes, and unpigmented skin. Furthermore, there is nothing about albinism that requires a specific skeletal structure. _But now all these 3 races are considered caucasian._ Oh so albinos are a race now. You just finished saying that it's a disease. Which is it? _But now all these 3 races are considered caucasian.. which is why even the indians and aboriginal australians are considered caucasians._ Blah blah blah. Tell me something. When you're sucking off François Bernier and Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, for collectively creating the modern concept of race, do you cup their balls? _Only about 33% of europeans are descendants of the albinos_ The fuck are you talking about? Are you SERIOUSLY confusing Neanderthals with albinos? Albinos are people with the condition of albinism, which is the congenital lack of pigmentation. _So, I find extremely retarded on the people who say whites instead of caucasians because it's clearly not the same thing._ Yeah because being white has nothing to do with being caucasian. Since you're complaining about congenital abundance of pigmentation, the only way to actually be white is to ban albino, and there are albino Africans. BTW the opposite of albinism is complete melanism. Though while albinism strikes people of all races, I am unable to find any reports of complete melanism in non-black races. It would be really neat if I could find such a person though.
INTJ-Skorpyo7 There are three "races" there (none of which fit the modern classifi. Those are Nordic, Alpine, and Mediterranean. Alpine is not the same thing as Albino. Albino is a term that originated in the early 18th century from the Portuguese and Spanish word "albo" which in turn comes from the Latin albus and the suffix -ino. Meanwhile, Alpine comes from the Latin word "alpinus" which refers to the Alps. However earlier you mentioned "Albinos, Mediterraneans, and Alpines". From this I can surmise one of two possibilities. Either you are conflating Alpine (from the Latin Alpinus) with Albino (from the Latin Albus), or you are renaming "Nordic" to "Albino" in order to sew confusion. At least in the English language, at no point has the word "albino" ever been applied to the Nordics or the Norse, unless one was born with albinism obviously. What's more, the Nordic race was not white. Albinos are white, Nordics were pink. Seriously, quit changing the subject and deliberately misinterpretting what's being said here. Oh and the word "albino" originated in the early 18th century, from Portuguese and Spanish "albo" (from Latin albus) with the suffix -ino, referring to... people with albinism... Again, at no point has "albino" (in English anyway) ever referred to anything but people or animals with albinism.
xhaileymorganx omg finally some open minded people i thought i was the only one just because we found the answer of how doesn't mean we found the answer of why you mad-dam i respect :D
How I remember it from biology class is that blue eyes are adapted to see better in snow and bright light, while brown eyes are more adapted to see in darkess. I could be wrong though, I've been out of school for a bit.
I think it is so funny people will accept in theory that different groups possess genes that make them superior than others at different things but when you apply it to real life suddenly everyone either stops talking or is deeply offended.
Yeah it's a funny thing for people to do that, the slightest difference is not even comparable of being called superior, if ever another race human begin is able to use over 50 percent of its brain then I would call that superior. What humans are doing right now is like we both have the same car but my car is red and your is blue but mines superior that yours because it's red?
Vicioues you fool. we all use 100% of our brain. fun fact: men tend to have more gray matter whereas women tend to have more white matter. men also usually have allot more neurons dedicated to spatial reasoning than a woman with the same intelligence.
Vaughn Cogito We don't. Technically, it is not impossible to be superior, but to think you are superior can lead to your downfall, making you inferior as well. In other words, were one may benefit over another in a particular field, the other must also benefit over him/her in another field.
Vicioues That is interesting. I wonder why it is that nearly every Olympic sprinter is black, while nearly every Strongman is white? I'm sure you'll spout cultural differences but it seems all around the world Africans dominate in terms of speed. Nearly all running backs are black and basketball is dominated by blacks. Seems, in terms of speed, blacks are superior, wouldn't you say?
So many flat earthers... I mean young earthers in the comments. Sorry, I always confuse the crazies with each other. They're pretty much the same after all.
I love that you spoke about skin pigmentation as part of evolution. this is an important factor that many humans have no idea about. this means non-Hispanic Americans (Caucasian and light-skinned European Americans) have been dark skinned and African Americans may or may not have been once fair skinned themselves. Mindblowing. it only confirms the fact that we are all equal and that the belief of superficial appearances are choices that humans make. thanks
Can we get rid of the "Warning Coffee Hot" labels and such and let natural selection weed out a few idiots then? I feel like we're evolving very backwards and that in 1000 years everyone will be an idiot with several physical and mental defects.
You should watch the film "Idiocracy", if you haven't already, it depicts exactly what you just described. And that's worrying, actually, because if someone wants to "re-establish" natural selection, they will be frowned upon. Most people have the philosophy "live and let live", but it should be instead "live and let die".
Pythagoras211 Yes, it is. A heightened state of alertness along with greater strength, endurance, and reaction time is 100% useful to help cope with any situation, from being attacked by a murderer to tripping and falling. It's our body's way of preparing us for a demanding situation. Plus, synthetic epinephrine is used to help individuals with things such as food allergies or other conditions that affect the circulatory and/or respiratory system. (Hopefully we would have a cure for those by the time we would hypothetically lose our fight-or-flight system, but I digress.) A more logical feature to remove would be the appendix. It can be a death sentence if infected and it's not used for any purpose today other than holding unnecessary toxins.
***** Not in mentally developed beings. We know that there are more than two options in EVERY situation. Sacrificing processing power for speed isn't good for any mentally advanced being because in societies it has a negative effect, even in personal relationships it has a negative effect. It's only IMMENSELY useful if you know only to run and fight or any basic action. But it doesn't help when you know how to reason because it shuts off that option, in most cases at least.
MegaSupernova888 I think the system is definitely useful to us today in survival situations, but it doesn't help us deal with things like personal relationship issues, or having a bunch of deadlines at work, etc. etc. I am not sure, but I think Pythagoras is saying that hopefully one day we will end violence and danger completely and we can all deal with our day-to-day lives without unnecessary clouding of our judgement. I would still be sad to see it go though...
- we actually will develop flatter faces and slender upper bodies like anime characters but our asses will grow massively and all of our toes will connect except the big toes.
I thought the thing about lactose intolerance was so interesting! That might explain why I, who am of light-skinned European descent, don't really have a lactose digestion problem, while all of my Central and South American friends (that I know of) get severe upset tummy when they consume dairy.
No. It's just that they make stupid videos lately. And this one has a misleading title. It tells about how humans have evolved not anything about whether we are still evolving or not
BloodyClownMaggot the fact that he says in a singel sentence that we do, is not reason enough for that to be the title of the video. The video was about how humans have evolved after we left africa. He did not mention how the creation of civilization has affected evolution or anything like that.
David Engen Allow me to offer a small bit of information to make up for this channel's lack of effort. Recent data shows that there is a growing number of children being born with autism in Silicon valley. I'm sure you can see where I am going with this fact. However, to save myself time, and considering Google now allows links: www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aspergers_pr.html There you have it. Just one example of how evolution is still at play.
King_BaSean I'm going to assume you're a smart person who is just trolling, and I shouldn't go for such low hanging fruit, but I can't help myself. Anyway... Jesus did exist, in the sense that he was a real person. Now, whether or not he was the "son of God" is up to debate. -------- UA-cam comments left of this year: 2 I should probably stop soon. Still have 150 days left after all.
No shit we're still evolving, EVERYTHING is still evolving. Evolution is just adapting to your environment. The fact that this isn't common sense nowadays is honestly quite unsettling.
All you mad Christians shuttup! Evolution has pretty much been proven. So whether you like it or not, god either doesn't exist or he does and he just made earth and made evolution happen!
I've come to find that Atheists make comments like you all the time, but when pressed for evidence they can't produce. I beg you, just give me the single greatest "proof" that convinced you evolution is true.
fellowservant34 Well considering we share 96% of our DNA with the Chimpanzee... that's more than what rats and mice have in common, genetically speaking. that means we had a common ancestor and evolved from it into what we are today. Besides, look at bacteria. They are evolving in front of our eyes, whether it be entirely new strains or known bacteria developing resistance to antibiotics that once worked but were overused (especially by means of being unecessarily given to farm animals as a peventative measure).
Every living organism today is equally evolved. You heard that right, a jellyfish is as evolved as you. That evolution didn't change the morphology of jellyfish doesn't mean it hasn't evolved: it is still evolving resistance against pathogens and other traits that can't be seen by the naked eye. Do you see why your race question is irrelevant?
well it don't work like that, if you live in Africa you're evolved to the African standard whereas if you lived in England you're evolved to the European standard. so it depends on where you live.
You can't say that something is less evolved. You only can say they re addapted to different situations. Africans are adopted to widesprawling, sunny lands, so they are bigger, to run faster and have dark skin, while europeans are adapted to rocky, darker regions. No such thing as "less" evolved.
There is no fight between science and spirituality. There is just fight between some dogmatic interpretations and science data. People can live there spirituality free and strong if they just get ride of dogmas. Dogmas are the problem, and the cause of so many violence and conflict. Spirituality should free us as well as science, the problem is religion is becoming a big busines propaganda.
From what I know (though I can't pinpoint a source at this time), there is another huge difference between us and our ancient ancestors: roughly 3000 - 5000 years ago, most people were... shorter a.k.a. the average height of a human was about 5 feet, which is significantly less that it is today. Maybe because shorter people need less food and therefore are more likely to survive...
Kevin Martinez If trees come from saplings, why are there still saplings in the forest? Also, humans did not evolve from apes. Apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor. Learn what evolution really says from science books (rather than hearing the stupidified versions from local church pastors) before you think you know all about it.
I was about to agree that blue eyed people (like myself) see better in the dark because I see a WHOLE lot better in the dark than my mother does. Then I remembered that she has blue eyes to. Felt stupid afterward.
I don't get this thing where we have to stretch before we go out for a run or do any kind of exercise, you don't see any other animal bending down and touching their toes before they chase down a rabbit...
One example of us constantly evolving is that we're actually a couple inches taller (in America) then our forefathers back in Europe. When America was first colonized amazingly, people lived longer, stronger and healthier lives. Also were a couple inches taller. Now this is observable of skeletons from 200-400 years ago if I do my math right. (I don't want to do the math at the moment) Comparing a modern skeleton to an skeleton from a couple hundred centuries ago I've noticed a remarkable difference. Evolution is a beautiful thing.
LiquidTang Yes and no. We have developed quite a bit differently than humans of the past due to our insistence on sitting around so much. The curvature of our spine, our eyesight degrading, etc. While height could be directly related to better nutrition, this would still be a form of adaptation to environment, albeit human altered environment.
Why don't we start cultivating humans so that we can survive more extreme environments like space better? E.g: We can send a few families to space bring them back down here and make them have a child then when there children become 18 send them to space then bring them back to earth and make them have kids and then keep doing that.
I have striking blue eyes, and my apartment is always dark with very soft colored lights (salt lamps, black lights, blue lights) and people always feel the need to turn a light on when they come over (unless they are blue eyed, too) Woooot
I do not remember what article it was or where to find it anymore but I have read something that explained how we evolve and how it will change our appearance with a 3D model available to look at. If anyone knows what I am talking about or has something similar, please link me to it!
I recon that humans are evolving to be lazier an example of my theory is: because in the past if you wanted food you would have to go out and source it, but now you pick up a machine; press some numbers; then talk to someone then viola and you don't even have to move to a different location.
Will it be possibe in the long future that eyes can be for example. Pink, Purple or Orange? I mean.... Thosand of years ago there was only brown eyes... And now its brown, Hazel, Green, blue and Gray and shades Like that

Just because you "did" a biology degree doesn't mean you have one. ;)
Matthew Harrity smartass
In fact, it's part of the definition of the word organism. An organism can't be an organism unless it evolves.
I actually lost iq points after reading these comments, so far i haven't found a single comment that provides a valid argument against evolution... No, stating a quote from the bible isn't valid.
Kam Joe
mammals evolved from synapsids, synapsids were animals that had traits of mammals and reptiles. apes including humans are mammals. evolution is not a dog giving birth to a new species it is a dog giving birth to a slightly genetically different dog. same with every single animal in history. every single animal has given birth to the same species as, it. when populations split new lineages are made. no monkeys made humans, we are a totally separate lineage. humans and chimps came from a common ancestor but when the ancestor split into other populations they were not suddenly humans and chimps, they would still have looked identical to the common ancestor but since they were separated they would have become more genetically different as time went on. eventually becoming modern humans and chimps. humans and chimps are just names, they are not actually real as in they are just name tags. so now you can see that your problem *"mutated monkey needed another mutated monkey of opposite sex to give the first offspring of human"* makes no sense at all.
Kam Joe
You are really ignorant of science and evolution.... i think you just want to believe in your god and thats it, you don't care about the truth, evidence or facts. I don't know how you can honestly be debating this when you don't know jack about it. If so you should just stay in your bubble and never comment on science videos again.. you should probably never use technology either. You don't even know what you are arguing against...
SSJ32Gohan , Do you believe in gravity?
can you explain scientifically what it is?
We can say that humans are highly evolved because we have changed drastically from our bacterial ancestors, but that evolution is not necessarily an improvement.
it has never benefitted us...or anything that scientitst claim has evolved in any way...
logicisonmyside Well that's not exactly true, we pass on immunity through our genes all the time, it's one of the fastest developing traits.

***** Well I mean Evolution goes on UNTIL a species goes extinct that is.
Illuminati exposed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fellow illuminati member Organisms don't evolve. Populations do! If we stop reproducing then evolution stops. Or if we take reproduction into our own hands. In that case, if we artificially select traits I suppose it's still evolution just not naturally occurring.
Some people say humans can't evolve anymore because interracial procreation messes the genes up

Religion as a whole: minus 10000
Let me fix that for you:
Science: 1
Creationists: 0
The majority of christians believe in evolution.
NKTV Lol
To those saying something like "if evolution was real, why are there still monkeys?"
We are not directly descended from monkeys, we just share a common ancestor.

4 words to say from me: Humans Are Animals Too.
But animals are not "definition coiners" too.
"Non-human animals" is a bit needlessly cumbersome when the language had already invented the term, "animals."
Just waiting for some christians to say "OMG WE CAME FROM GOD"
The genesis story is incompatible with irrefutable evidence like the snow ice in the arctic, the countless fossil records of dinosaurs, the age of the universe as determined by the existence of background radiation and the speed of light, trees that have been around longer than the supposed date of the earth, etc...
if you dont believe in an entire chapter of the bible, then why can't you start to think critically about the rest of the book?
POWER TO THE BLUE-EYED PEOPLE!
I heard somewhere though that people with blue eyes are also more sensitive to sunlight, so it's both an advantage and a downfall.
***** I think green are the middle ground between the two as I have good night vision but I'm fine in brightly light areas too.
Green supremacy!
but these days any one can just put on sunglasses which don't need batteries like torches do for the dark.
***** so my eyes are blue the same reason the sky is blue
In fact, scientists have found that the human brain is shrinking.
Sam Bradley Where is that proven? And I kind of think that could be true from how many people are exposed to crap on TV for example.
Lexyvil I acctually think I found out from a DNews video a while ago, search it up on google, there is a ton of websites explaining why our brain is shrinking.
Sam Bradley If that ends up being confirmed, then, Crap.
Lexyvil Don't worry, brain size has nothing to do with intelligence. (To some degree)
I have blue eyes!!, YAY, night vision!!
I have black eyes and have no trouble in the dark so there!
+Franco C I got blue eyes too and always had great night vision. I find I see better at night than people who eat carrots all the time... so that carrot thing helping people see in the night must be BS
+Alexandar Trajkovski No such thing as black eyes, you have very dark brown eyes.
+valcarni1 lighter color eyes are more sensitive to light so you are basicly bats in bright places also why there are less of you
+Franco C I have green eyes but i can see in the dark just fine however it takes a few seconds for my eyes to adjust
Second one says "I think a cloud came alive and flew down from the sky picked up your dog, and ate him"
Which makes more sense? Lol not even a question at all.
Gongasoso It can be proven, the problem is creationists look at the evidence and say "Well we weren't there to know for sure that dogs came from wolves." They fail to realize that you don't have to physically be at the exact moment of when there was significant change amongst a species to declare it being another before you can actually do so.
This thing called genealogy realllllly fucking confuses creationists. Especially when we go about saying things like, "we don't even need a fossil record to know that evolution is true."
That and they don't understand that micro evolution and macro are both evolution just at different time scales.
Lots of pressure to change and adapt in order to survive.
let them believe whatever they want, science keeps moving forward! also an anchor can slow down progress, but sometimes that is exactly what mankind needs.(not like in the middle ages big, but somewhere in between)
My honors Bio teacher back in HS was a christian and said that she believes in evolution and it's okay to believe in both and I agreed with her.
When I read the title my initial thought was, no shit.
0:45 he says 'Papyrus'.
*Bonetrousle intensifies*
I think some people here failed to understand the difference between evolution and mutation. We are all evolving but some of us, that have moved to different areas of earth over time have mutated, hence losing pigmentation due to the lack of sunlight blocked by excess clouds.
Thinking blue eyes is purely just a means of attracting a mate... here's why:
Choice between a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes vs. no hair and red eyes with a raspy voice... what am I saying? I'd go for the demon girl. Obviously she's kinky.
LOL I don't know, I don't think would go for the demon chick if she was bald, I mean she might be kinky as hell but if I was to play with her I'd be like "Yo, gotta put a wig on that" XD
I was trying to have a friendly exchange with the person, not you.
albinos have red eyes but they do have hair most of the time.
RedStefan
Albinos have clear eyes, as in the color you see is actually the blood showing through, same thing with why human lips are pink.
People with blue eyes are indeed not 'more evolved' than people with brown eyes. It's just adaptation to climate. In nordic countries (where blue eyes originated), there isn't much sun. Less sun = less pigment needed.
WTF... You mean humans are devolving...
" Hey guys it's scarce here "
Papyrus? UNDERTALE CONFIRMED
You should try it, and help us ram it down children's throat to corrupt them with the word, 'GOD' before they can make up their own mind."

At least that's been my view of the topic.
no we find the overall intelligence by scanning skull sizes and seaing how much brain there is compared to the body
"Humans are evolving right now, can you hear it??"
oh yes I can it's a slight cracking sound.
126 people will never be evolving
Well... technically an individual is incapable of evolving; it's a concept only applied to a group or species. But I certainly hope those 126 people won't be a part of the gene pool.
Religion is a weapon evolution is real

I'd like a study done on actual AFRICAN people, like comparing the ancestors to the present population. I mean all these studies on white Europeans are quite predictable honestly
+INTJ-Skorpyo7 if that's racist so is saying African Americans isn't?
INTJ-Skorpyo7
_my point is that almost 1/3 of caucasian europeans aren't white. they're tanned/light brown. greeks for example aren't white. saying white europeans excludes almost 33% of europeans_
Ok then, seeing as how only albinos are white, I'd like to see where you are getting your data that 66% of Europeans are albinos.
_if that's not racist_
You're nitpicking over minor variations in skin tone, and saying that those variations aren't white because they're tanned or light brown. Meanwhile, only albinos are white. You're drawing lines in the sand that not even members of Stormfront, the KKK, or other racist organizations will draw.
_White is not a fucking race.._
Technically, there's no such thing as race.
INTJ-Skorpyo7 _albinism is a disease_
No, it's a mutation.
While Alpines were round-skulled (or brachycephalic), stocky in stature, and possessed intermediate hair, eye and skin color._
Uh... Albinos don't have pale hair, eyes, and skin. They have unpigmented hair, unpigmented eyes, and unpigmented skin.
Furthermore, there is nothing about albinism that requires a specific skeletal structure.
_But now all these 3 races are considered caucasian._
Oh so albinos are a race now. You just finished saying that it's a disease. Which is it?
_But now all these 3 races are considered caucasian.. which is why even the indians and aboriginal australians are considered caucasians._
Blah blah blah. Tell me something. When you're sucking off François Bernier and Johann Friedrich Blumenbach,
for collectively creating the modern concept of race, do you cup their balls?
_Only about 33% of europeans are descendants of the albinos_
The fuck are you talking about? Are you SERIOUSLY confusing Neanderthals with albinos? Albinos are people with the condition of albinism, which is the congenital lack of pigmentation.
_So, I find extremely retarded on the people who say whites instead of caucasians because it's clearly not the same thing._
Yeah because being white has nothing to do with being caucasian.
INTJ-Skorpyo7
There are three "races" there (none of which fit the modern classifi.
Again, at no point has "albino" (in English anyway) ever referred to anything but people or animals with albinism.
am I the only one here who believes in god and evolution??? lol
xhaileymorganx I believe God and evolution too. I believe God uses evolution to make his creatures, rather than *poof*.
***** That's my belief.
xhaileymorganx nope. i do as well. not a lot of people have the mental capacity to do so.
xhaileymorganx omg finally some open minded people i thought i was the only one just because we found the answer of how doesn't mean we found the answer of why you mad-dam i respect :D
Nope there plenty of people with the same thoughts as you.
How I remember it from biology class is that blue eyes are adapted to see better in snow and bright light, while brown eyes are more adapted to see in darkess.
I could be wrong though, I've been out of school for a bit.
Why bother with science? Jebus explains everything! :)
Vicioues
you fool. we all use 100% of our brain. fun fact: men tend to have more gray matter whereas women tend to have more white matter. men also usually have allot more neurons dedicated to spatial reasoning than a woman with the same intelligence.
I think the issue is how does one objectively measure superiority?
Isn't it one of the most logical things in the world that the human species (and every living creature) is evolving?
"can you hear it" XD
So many flat earthers... I mean young earthers in the comments. Sorry, I always confuse the crazies with each other. They're pretty much the same after all.
***** They have hidden the flat earth and put us on the round one. Those cunning bastards.
I love that you spoke about skin pigmentation as part of evolution. this is an important factor that many humans have no idea about. this means non-Hispanic Americans (Caucasian and light-skinned European Americans) have been dark skinned and African Americans may or may not have been once fair skinned themselves. Mindblowing. it only confirms the fact that we are all equal and that the belief of superficial appearances are choices that humans make. thanks
this guy just called me a mutant
+yaboiAC u saw that ike its a bad thing. Say it like... This guy just caled me a mutant! xD YAH!!!!
+yaboiAC Hi, long lost descendant of me.
Lol so which ever race carries the the good mutation, is the *true* apex race.
In case you haven't realized, I'm not being serious.

"Humans are still evolving!"
Who thought we stopped evolving?
Not that many people, probably. But there are people who think we never did (not naming names).
Yet you wouldn't know it.. hopefully in the future we will no longer need a fight or flight system
That system is IMMENSELY useful in a universe that contains more than zero threats and/ or dangers.
It isn't
Pythagoras211 Yes, it is. A heightened state of alertness along with greater strength, endurance, and reaction time is 100% useful to help cope with any situation, from being attacked by a murderer to tripping and falling. It's our body's way of preparing us for a demanding situation. Plus, synthetic epinephrine is used to help individuals with things such as food allergies or other conditions that affect the circulatory and/or respiratory system. (Hopefully we would have a cure for those by the time we would hypothetically lose our fight-or-flight system, but I digress.)
A more logical feature to remove would be the appendix.
I want my superpowers. We are evolving, and I am ready to evolve some superpowers.
yeah, no super powers sadly, we're just evolving to need less parts. Bye bye pinky tail bone appendix, ect. sadly.
Or a lab with poor sanitation and lousy security regarding radioactives.
Does sentience count as a super power?
This is one of the best videos to show people that are skeptics of evolution.
Yeah, to better process junk food and tv.
hmmm... maybe we can evolve to not get fat when we eat too many burgers o_o
Servals I feel like I'm the missing link for that.
it would be cool if we evolve like anime?
Human evolves into DireHuman!
PirateDion Human used politics! It's super effective! (joke)
- we actually will develop flatter faces and slender upper bodies like anime characters but our asses will grow massively and all of our toes will connect except the big toes.
OverthereLook
those are adaptations.
Omar Hernandez The adaptation of features making one genetically distinct from another over time is evolution.
I thought the thing about lactose intolerance was so interesting! That might explain why I, who am of light-skinned European descent, don't really have a lactose digestion problem, while all of my Central and South American friends (that I know of) get severe upset tummy when they consume dairy.
How do you unsubscribe with an ipad?
HAHA why? did this offend you?
No. It's just that they make stupid videos lately. And this one has a misleading title. It tells about how humans have evolved not anything about whether we are still evolving or not
David Engen ...Isn't it obvious from this video..? WE ARE. Amongst the first things Trace says is "humans are evolving too, right now!"
However, to save myself time, and considering Google now allows links: www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aspergers_pr.html
There you have it. Just one example of how evolution is still at play.
Discovery seems to always point out the obvious.
ScootaLuke Gurr
yeah. WHERE IS THE DISCOVERY IN THAT DISCOVERY.?
I didn't think people would still be evolving because we change things to suit us and that stops natural selection and evolution from taking place.
...Lord, help us.
he won't help people with cancer or other suffering people. He is not going to help you just because you watched a video.
I AM HERE MY SON
AHxCode Mufasa!
Leave me alone...
I feel like you disregard everything he said in this video
Jesus never existed
Collin Wys do you have evidence that he did
King_BaSean I'm going to assume you're a smart person who is just trolling, and I shouldn't go for such low hanging fruit, but I can't help myself. Anyway...
Jesus did exist, in the sense that he was a real person. Now, whether or not he was the "son of God" is up to debate.

I should probably stop soon. Still have 150 days left after all.
Brandon Smith hhheyyyy, when that day comes, can you give me all your money? I mean you not going to need it...
+Brandon Smith Actually there r no records whatsoever of jesus existing so where exactly did u get that jesus did exist...other than the bible
+Brax 23 2015
No shit we're still evolving, EVERYTHING is still evolving. Evolution is just adapting to your environment. The fact that this isn't common sense nowadays is honestly quite unsettling.
I can destroy all of your carefully structured arguments and rigorously tested evidence with six words. God made the world in seven days.
Boom
But there is no real evidence for that.

after ferguson, i think we're evolving in the wrong direction
All you mad Christians shuttup! Evolution has pretty much been proven. So whether you like it or not, god either doesn't exist or he does and he just made earth and made evolution happen!
I've come to find that Atheists make comments like you all the time, but when pressed for evidence they can't produce. I beg you, just give me the single greatest "proof" that convinced you evolution is true.
Dude look it up scientists proved evolution like 10 years ago
Zexom Ad Dude, I said the single greatest evidence that convinced *you* evolution is true.
fellowservant34
I'd probably have to go with the fossil record, or molecular genetics demonstrating evolution constantly as the most convincing.
fellowservant34 Well considering we share 96% of our DNA with the Chimpanzee... that's more than what rats and mice have in common, genetically speaking. that means we had a common ancestor and evolved from it into what we are today.
Besides, look at bacteria. They are evolving in front of our eyes, whether it be entirely new strains or known bacteria developing resistance to antibiotics that once worked but were overused (especially by means of being unecessarily given to farm animals as a peventative measure).
So which race is the most evolved and which race is the least?
Every living organism today is equally evolved. You heard that right, a jellyfish is as evolved as you. That evolution didn't change the morphology of jellyfish doesn't mean it hasn't evolved: it is still evolving resistance against pathogens and other traits that can't be seen by the naked eye. Do you see why your race question is irrelevant?
well it don't work like that, if you live in Africa you're evolved to the African standard whereas if you lived in England you're evolved to the European standard. so it depends on where you live.
Teun van den Brand No, just sounds like you had a politically correct way of dodging the question.
You can't say that something is less evolved. You only can say they re addapted to different situations. Africans are adopted to widesprawling, sunny lands, so they are bigger, to run faster and have dark skin, while europeans are adapted to rocky, darker regions. No such thing as "less" evolved.
There's no such thing as being "more evolved". Everything evolves alongside each other.

i learned that the straight white person nose is better adpted for a colder climate wile the rounder nose is better for warmth
+BlueHypothermicReality Exactly.

I believe it's more likely that, in modern times, better nutrition has led to taller people.
European Americans lol Never heard that term, took me a few seconds to realize he meant white people.
racist
+Anonymous warrior European people are white
Jayyy well, In that case.....are all black people Africans?
No, but Africans are black.
LIKE IF YOU BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION.
Green eye color is between brown and blue right? so alot of people have the inner part of the iris brown and the outer green, so what does that mean?
Evolution is a made-up heresy. You don't know, you weren't there. LMAO just kidding. Good video!
The irony of the you weren't there argument.
Mog of War pretty much Ken Ham's argument for the whole debate with Bill Nye
Blah blah blah bible.
Blah blah blah unsub.
I hope you're joking.
Kevin Martinez
blah blah blah it's called a common ancestor
Kevin Martinez Think of them as our retarded cousins who didn't get the good genes.
I hope you all understand that I'm kidding. I was mocking what a creationist would say...
I was about to agree that blue eyed people (like myself) see better in the dark because I see a WHOLE lot better in the dark than my mother does. Then I remembered that she has blue eyes to. Felt stupid afterward.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth."
Genesis 1:1
"In the end. there is death."
my bible.
Lol, correction: In the end, God destroyed the earth.
destruction=death in my eyes!
No...
Genesis says that the Earth was created 6 thousand years ago
-.-
Nickelodeon's Tomorrow People? You mean ITV's Tomorrow People.
I don't get this thing where we have to stretch before we go out for a run or do any kind of exercise, you don't see any other animal bending down and touching their toes before they chase down a rabbit...
Asking for dislikes on an evolution video... that took balls.
I'd gamble the majority of the difference in things like height are really just due to things like better nutrition and less disease.
Everything is evolving. Always has, always will. Even after we blow ourselves up, evolution will continue.
Of course we're still evolving.
We're animals, aren't we?
Why don't we start cultivating humans so that we can survive more extreme environments like space better? E.g: We can send a few families to space bring them back down here and make them have a child then when there children become 18 send them to space then bring them back to earth and make them have kids and then keep doing that.
The fun part about evolution is that its true wether or not you believe in it.
I don't believe we evolved in the first time
Adam- that's cute.
Human will evolve into a smart, athletic, and beautiful creature. It's already happening.
I wish I could share your optimism °sigh°
Did you creationists even watch the video?! It says evolution has been recorded in HUMANS in the last 5000 yrs.
evolution isn't just a bunch of mutations as time goes on... its the change in the frequency of those mutations in the populations' genes.
"Oh mother Earth thouh are a heartless wench"
though I think it should be mother nature. Nature can be a real bitch sometimes
I thought technology would replace evolution. But if we're still naturally adapting and mutating over time, then that's good news.
