I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge breakfast food person. My husband loves breakfast. I can’t cook anymore because I’m disabled now. My husband only knew how to make breakfast at the and he does a good job. I’ve been trying to teach him the easiest meals I have made for 52 years. Our kids loved casseroles so he’s doing a good job. I’ve been blessed to have him in my life all these years. We’ve been married 53 years. He takes excellent care of me. I love seeing your children. My grandkids are growing up. I miss having a baby in our lives. Your oldest boy reminds me of our oldest son. He liked to tell me jokes. I’ve always been his biggest fan. Sorry for writing a letter. I’ve given my husband instructions for many of your meals. He loves them Marie. Thank you for sharing them with us fans 😋❣️
The last one is a favourite here too! we called it Cheeseburger Macaroni, and added frozen mixed veggies in place of celery, but I forgot how much I loved this one! Thanks for the reminder :)
I saw that See Mindy Mom. I made my own tomato soup with canned tomatoes, carrots, onion and basil. That works too. Almost any tomato products can make tomato soup. On grandpa’s one pot dish, right now I would be even more frugal and halve the beef. Maybe add more pasta if needed? I feel like every family has some version of that dish and it’s a winner!
My kids used to love breakfast for dinner, a real treat. I mix turkey with ground beef then just freeze the extra meatballs for later. You always have such good ideas. Love to watch you! Budget friendly. Thanks!
I've never been a fan of rice in the past, I think because it's white and flavorless, in my opinion. But I decided recently to look for flavorful recipes because i have to pinch my dollars. Your recipe came at the right time. It looks delicious. And as you said, it's versatile for virtually any protein and vegetable. I see a lot of fridge cleanouts with this. Thanks!
Budget saver idea… We bought our own meat grinder and it has paid for itself over and over again when we grind our own chicken breast and chicken thighs. To make meatballs I used 3/4 pound chicken ground to 1/4 pound of beef and it made the best meatballs ever! I did add meat tenderizer to the meatball mix. They freeze incredibly well and they are delicious .
Just wanted to leave you a little message about the Grandpa’s Special Combo. I intended to make it as instructed, however, I had to make a tweet. I needed to adjust the ingredients due to the fact that I inadvertently made a similar meal the day before. I used 1.5 bags of egg noodles, 2 cans of mixed vegetables, 2 cans of stewed tomatoes, about 1.5 cups of cheddar cheese, and 1.5 pounds of Turkey burger seasoned with onion powder. All I did was cooked the noodles and in a separate pot cooked the burger then added the vegetables. I then drained the noodles, added the meat and vegetables mix and added the cheese. Very simple meal despite not being the exact recipe you listed. I do intend to make the meal as written, just have to pay attention to my meal planning. 😉 Thanks for the meal idea! Always looking for cheap and simple and filling meals!
I transitioned my family to ground turkey years ago & no one even noticed. Much cheaper & cans well too! Hope you feel better soon! Not this vid, but the cheeseburger chowder from last week was amazing!!
Great idea for Top 5 recipes it helps to see options and how to change up certain ingredients to give new ideas and inspiration while keeping the food budget as low as possible. Unit price is really important for the best deal and I like the buy one for now and two for later that is a great way to build up a usable pantry! Thanks for the great ideas!
I bought sets of gold measuring cups and spoons and I love using them. having things be visually pleasing can make the job more enjoyable. love your recipes. most are easy to veganize, quick and easy.
I like to bake our bacon. Makes it easier for me so I can cook other stuff at same time. We are half & half between sausage & bacon. Homemade stuffed (cheese cubes) meatballs is a favorite of ours too. I get a little crazy. Lol. They are the size of my fists then I bake them. My meatloaf, meatballs & Salisbury steak are all the same mix. Thank you for being practical and friendly at the same time.
Feel better. Yes to recipes using the same ingredients- I love creativity in meal prep. I cook for one so am not purchasing Bacon but I like the crunch of Bacon Bits and add them to egg dishes, and salads. I bought several bottles of these prior to the Dollar Tree increasing their prices. I know they have imitation ingredients in them as well as real but the idea is to get the " bacon" flavor into dishes.
I agree :). And, let me share that I had two great hails last week from the same store. The first day I went by my list and used coupons both digital and manufacturer's to save 37% or $38.00 off my shop. One deal was Ground Turkey $2.99/ pound. A few days later I decided to stop in and purchase another pound of the Ground Turkey to go with the three packages I had purchased the first day. THEN, I came across 2 lb boxes of all beef, within the best buy date of BUBBA BURGERS ! 🍔 Originally $16.99/ box they had been reduced to $2.99 - I bought the last five boxes. YUP a savings of $72.52 that was 80 % on the 10 pounds of beef and 1 pound of ground turkey. I was a happy gal !
Love your recipes. I’d love to see a video focused on different bean recipes. It seems beans and rice are the cheapest meals to make and i dont currently use them in my cooking expect for chili 😂
I really like your number 10. I think in part because it reminds me of what I used to do as a young cook. You know most kids love Hamburger Helper. Well, I always thought it was way too high in sodium. So, I began to devise my own version of say beef stroganoff, others followed. My family found out very quickly that my versions of the most favorite family meal of busy mom's, was much better. You can put your family's favorite add-ins. Ofcourse today we have ground turkey as an option, to make it even more economical. Maybe you could consider a series of Hamburger Helper knock-offs and even Tuna Helper? Just a thought...you already have a good start! 🙂👍
I looove your videos. I think your kids are adorable. I would like to challenge you though, to start, not apologizing. You are amazing. Your family is amazing. ✌️💜💜💜
My family has bacon every Saturday but we love sausage as well we did breakfast for dinner this last Monday we did pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrown patties, and my husband wanted biscuits and gravey we just pulled things out of the freezer and it was a hit. I feed 2 adults and 3 teens and they eat alot. I use the clearance French bread from Walmart they run between .60 -.70 cents we use leftover spaghetti sauce, cheese and pepperoni from the freezer can make French bread pizza with a vegetable on the side for under $5. I started making fried rice as well another favorite and there is always leftovers. My favorite kitchen utensils are my wooden spoon and spatula I am very boring with my kitchen utensils.
You can never go wrong with wooden utensils, French bread pizza, and breakfast for dinner! You sound like an amazing mom blessed with an amazing family 🥰
You can make tomato soup from a tin of chopped tomatoes🥫 and a tin of water, salt to taste🧂, maybe start with cooking 🧅🧄, or use chives, ad some( cream cheese) 🧀 ad veggies and pasta if you have
Your kids are so blessed and very lucky that you could cook fresh breakfast and worth it compared McDonald’s or IHOP restaurants.^_^. Thank you for the tips and ideas 👍❤️
Dear Maria, POWDERED GARLIC?? LOL! I love that you can laugh at yourself. I wonder if you didn't correct yourself how many people would have asked, WHAT?? When I use a tomato soup substitute I sometimes use tomato juice or if I use sauce I thin it with water as well as milk. You are a great cook and a joy to watch Thank you
Great recipes, could you do like cheap 3 ingredients recipes, with ground beef or chicken. Love all your videos. I’m from Canada, and our food prices are very high. Thank you for sharing. ❤️🇨🇦👍
I use bacon in my fried rice, using the bacon fat. Yeah, day old rice separated better.. Mom used to use hot dogs, she'd cut them in 4ths lengthwise and chop them. .
Haha I’m not sure I could get down with the hot dogs but I believe it’s a comforting meal for many! Bacon and bacon fat on fried rice sounds delicious!!! I need to try that!
Thanks for the great ideas! You should definitely try pineapple fried rice, it’s amazing with fresh pineapple! Damn Delicious has a great recipe for it!
Oh Maria,The baby is growing up so fast...He's ADORABLE!💙🤗💙 Thank you for these budget friendly meal ideas,They all look Really Tasty!😋 I like my bacon 🥓 crispy as well!

Your kids are adorable!
I had some leftover chicken breast and Pineapple that I threw in a fried rice. It was kind of sticky but it was so good
Maria I agree my favorite is my garlic slicer. I love to cook and use it all the time.
😀😀
Cut small section of string cheese and put in the center of turkey meatballs to make them extra yummy.
The last one is a favourite here too! we called it Cheeseburger Macaroni, and added frozen mixed veggies in place of celery, but I forgot how much I loved this one! Thanks for the reminder :)
I love breakfast for dinner! It's always my birthday meal.
For some reason this reminds me of an episode of Full House and they make Kimmy Gibbler breakfast casserole for her birthday as a cake?! Am I crazy?
@@MealsWithMaria it does sound familiar. They also forgot her birthday one time.
I love crispy bacon. I cook mine in the oven 375 degrees for about 12-13 minutes.
You can definitely do that with the beef and I agree about the tomato soup!
My kids used to love breakfast for dinner, a real treat. I mix turkey with ground beef then just freeze the extra meatballs for later. You always have such good ideas. Love to watch you! Budget friendly. Thanks!

I love eating it with just butter, salt & pepper. It's so good. Ever since I purchased my rice cooker, we eat more rice.
Budget saver idea… We bought our own meat grinder and it has paid for itself over and over again when we grind our own chicken breast and chicken thighs. Crackers and eggs for my meatloaf. Many use oats instead of breadcrumbs. That's good too.
Yum! Love that idea!

The best part of your videos is seeing your boys grow! I love that you let them be a part of things!

I’m glad you shared your dad’s quick meal. Can’t wait to try. Of the other meals I can agree they are my favorites too.
Thanks for sharing Maria!
🥰
My tip for homemade garlic bread is to use half garlic powder and half onion powder, I think it takes homemade garlic bread to a whole new level.
Perfect budget-friendly meals! Thanks for sharing a great variety of options for us!

Extra crispy bacon cooked in the oven on a sheet pan at 350 for about 20 minutes
🤤 that is magnificent
Great ideas here, Maria! I love making fried rice too and my own version of yum yum sauce. Easy, filling, and delicious! 😋

I am all about functionality and timesaving over beauty when it comes to my cooking utensils.

I use my potato masher to break up my ground beef when I brown it. I find that it works great, and I don't need a separate tool.

We do Philippino style fried rice. It has bacon for the protein! It's yummy and good even cold the next day. If there's any left.
Yummm!!!
Classico pasta sauce good substitute for tomato soup. Bertitoli five cheese pasta sauce is also good.
Yum! I’ll have to try that!
I’d love to see a ham and potato casserole with cheese a white sauce.

I love extra crispy bacon 🥓 I love when it just melts in my mouth

Question.....the last recipe only requires salt? For seasoning?
Yes! I had to double check, but yes! The onions and celery give it lots of flavor!

So true!!good idea!
