Thank you for the video, luckily mine was pre-assembled from Toyota. I love the look of this but I did not have silicone on hand while watching your video and just put them on my car. You are correct, the first day the cover on the front passenger side blew off the car and I double checked before taking the car out. Any suggestions on Toyota replacing this part before purchasing one?
@@GrowerStatusT73 I can imagine. I put the keys in a small ziplock with the owner's manual. It been so long since I worked on the racks....could you use a thin walled socket to make it work?
I’ve also seen from reviews of the aftermarket racks that you have to be careful because they will bend if you put anything that’s heavy on them which is unfortunate.
I've had some serious weight on them with no problems. I've even strapped a fiberglass boat to them. It looked ridiculous, but I got it home from an hour away. The fit and finish is meh, they do perform well in my year of use. I hope that helps if you're shopping for a set.
Funny, I just sold the car. The rack worked awesome. My only complaint would be the painted black plastic got worn and flaked. Easily could be repainted or sanded off to just black plastic. If you're considering getting them I would reccomend. Best of luck.
@@BrianMDIY you're the best. i got the front one on. However, the rear bar is another story. Which way are the pegs on the bracket supposed to be facing? Toward the front of the windshield. For the rear rack is it shorter in the fron like the front one? No joke, Brian you helping me is better than the seller and the videos posted on here.
Thank you for making this video. Mine came with a rack and I wanted to remove it.
Thank You for doing the video ....It saved me a lot of time ....
Awesome thank you!
thank you for your video, it was really helpfu! now me and my dad can go to the beach while bringing my girlfriend !

You could inquire with them to see if they'll replace it. If not, probably check on eBay for a cheap replacement. Those are my suggestions. Good luck.
i prefer a roof rail in chrome or black for looks only... there is plenty of room when folding the rear seats down....
I agree. Bought it to transport canoes and kayaks that don't fit inside.
How do you take off the plastic cover , is it inside the torque tool that came with the car?
@@GrowerStatusT73 the rack came with a plastic star key.
@@BrianMDIY they must have forgotten to put the keys in with the torque tool when i purchased the vehicle. Darn

About 30kgs max on most.
Between a Toyota roof rack & OEM, which do you recommend?
I would buy the Toyota roof rack if I could do it all over again.
any updates on the rack?

They won;t move when entering a car wash I hope?
I've had them on in plenty of carwashes. No problems.
which are longer longer brackets. the front or the rear?
The taller or longer brackets go to the rear. Best of luck.
Your the best. Just one more question sir. Which is the longer of the two
The front or rear? Dealership service didn't know. :(
The crossbar.
@@adrian-bx9sy that I don't know. I thought they were both the same length? You may need to measure the roof line to know.
