The Untold History Of Walt Disney Incorporated
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- The video explores the story of Walt Disney Inc. and Wed Enterprises, the company Walt Disney created to manage his backyard miniature railroad and control the rights to his name and two Disneyland attractions he owned. The tension between Walt and his brother Roy reached a boiling point due to Walt's decision to create a new company and ally with rival studios. Walt also made a deal with Paramount to finance the construction of Disneyland and kept ownership of some assets under his personal company, Retlaw Enterprises. Despite the family drama, Walt's vision led to the creation of Disneyland and a legacy that has lasted for generations.

excellent Disney content. puts a lot of context to the formative steps in building the empire. high rewatchability, loads of historical video.
What a great documentary! So interesting. Can't wait to see the next one!
I have yet to watch it, but I have full faith this is going to be fire. Bravo, Brickey.
Wow Brickey such a cool documentary and so well delivered bravo❤
This video was not what I was expecting but I loved it. I can only imagine that doing business with family is complicated but I didn’t realize how tense it must have been at times for Walt and Roy. Great job, Brickey! Thanks for making this!
Thank you so much!
Brickey, this is a great documentary. The footage and the way you tell the story is Very entertaining! Keep up the good work!
Brickey - you’ve done it again. I love how deep you get into the Disney story and this is another home run. Love finding out more of the behind the scenes of my happiest place on Earth
He just listens to the Disney Dish podcast
Wow, just, wow. Your storytelling is simply spectacular. This moved me to tears. I can't wait to see what else you have planned, Brickey! Thank you for lovingly and carefully sharing this with us.
So glad to see the first of many amazing documentaries. Brickey you are a truly great storyteller!
Beyond excited for this!
You did it and crushed! Keep working hard and having fun. I so appreciate you sharing your story telling skills with all of us. This is just the beginning of the journey we all get to go on together. Another shared experience I get to have with all these "Citizens of Disney" that I love hanging out with. Thanks Brickey and much success to you.
Congratulations that is amazing
As usual one of the best Disney history storytellers sharing his passion. ❤ Appreciate all your hard work on this and looking forward to your next masterpiece!
It’s a shame that the home and railroad on the property are gone. It should have been a landmark. The engines and some of the track was saved in a railroad museum in LA.
Someone once asked Roy why he went to bat for Walt. Roy answered "Walt made me a millionaire". As with any siblings, there will ALWAYS be fights, non speaking times, eventual making up.
Thank you I loved listening to this. I learn quite a bit.
Glad it was helpful!
Really enjoyed this documentary. Appreciate the insight into Walt breaking away from his brother and company to create something new really blew up into what we know and love today. Creation is like sausage making, messy. Great work as always Brickey!
Roy and Walt reconciled at the end- Roy was the only one who was present when Walt died and he was rubbing Walt's cold feet to try to warm them. Also, Walt wanted to call the Florida property "Disney World," but Roy -true to his nature as a loyal brother who always took a back seat to Walt- named the Florida property after Walt's death- "Walt Disney World".
Hype! 🎉
Currently listening to this Podcast, loved the video but there is something to just listening that really heightens your focus and you hear details missed while watching. Really enjoying it Brickey. Thanks for the many mediums..
Amazing!!!!
Thanks!!
I’ve shared the video on a couple social media groups.
Wow well done! Looking forward to your next video
The narrator sounds like the Disneyland version of Bryan Perry. I want to say... Mark? EDIT: Nope my bad. This be Brickey.
👍
This video is in a class of its own! All heart and historical facts make a beautiful documentary. Thank you ❤❤❤
Really, really enjoyed this. So well done✨✨✨
Great story Brickey. Congratulations!
💯 Plus to Brickey for your Time Effort and Forethought on the Creation of this project..Loved it! Thank you from Tammy
Wow!! That was amazing!! Definitely looking forward to more!!
Such a lovely tribute, even with all the contention and drama
This is a masterpiece!
Well said!
Great job. I could watch these WD history vlogs nonstop. I appreciate the hard work you put into this. 👍🏻 1313.
Really enjoyed this - thoughtful exploration of Disney's history. Thank you for your efforts!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mind blown. 🤯 Such an interesting story, and so well told. With all the rich detail, it was even better the second time!
Really enjoyed this. It’s not just explaining what happened, but adding the context, feeling and consequences of these historical events and the people involved that make videos like this so compelling. Love your work man 🙌🏼
This was so well-done! I know how much work you put into the video and I sincerely hope you'll be able to make more of this type of content once you recover from this project. The creativity and attention to detail is just fantastic! Thank you 👏
Love the storytelling and all of the new information. Amazing vintage footage. So many things, I had no idea. Thank you Brickey!
Thank you for telling a story that I’ve never heard! Amazing footage, narration and music! Well done! Can’t wait to watch again ❤️
This documentary was well crafted. The archive footage, coupled with Brickey’s storytelling, was excellent. Bonus for including a Google Earth segue! Outstanding work, and congratulations on the new channel Brickey!
Such well crafted storytelling! Loved this!
Can we just play this in the Tomorrowland theater? It has such rich history!
Haha I love this plan!
@@dis.cover.disney would be perfect haha!
Looking forward to this Brickey!
Very interesting Very much enjoyed it
Super excited as always
Great story, so we’ll produced. Hope you can keep it going.
This was great. I love the backyard train.
Amazing job! Love the format and history. Looking forward to more.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve never seen so much footage of the backyard train!!! How big was his land?!?!
Nice work pal, I had no idea about all this backstory, history, family drama. The world needs more visionaries !!! Quality piece!!
WOW!!! You didn’t disappoint with this one, I learned so much. Great job!!
Awesome! Thank you!
This is really well put together and fascinating. You don't hear about this back story so putting it inside 20 minutes is the perfect amount to feel informed but not like I have to sit down for a full documentary. Great job! Looking forward to more!
Beautiful story Brickey! I learned something new today!
Glad to hear it!
I wonder Roy's side of this. It sounds like his brother could have offered him a better paid position, but idk. We've all been in a group project and felt like the other person was not as involved as they should be.
Disneyland was Walt’s project. Roy was not enthusiastic about the park idea. WED was a separate company, fully owned and financed by Walt. It was only much later in development that Roy saw the potential.
I love this new content!
Another great video. We are all use to the traditional stories of Walt and Disney. This is such a interesting and non traditional story to here. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next on.
Thank you for all your hard work. It was great 👍
Fantastic & simply Wow 👏 👍
Enjoyed this!
Well done sir! Aww the peace pipe got me!
I heard Walt’s personal company Retlaw/Imagineering owned the Tiki room too. Hence ‘Walt Disney’s’ Tiki Room
Btw great job 👏
Love this!! ❤
Fabulous
I spy Jami's name in that thank you list! I always love it when i find places where space and Disney nerdoms collide. :). Great video, BTW.
They have been a very kind friend to my creative efforts. Happy to have Jami's name in the credits and on my team. ❤️
❤ just watched this again! This should be aired on ABC! It is so rich in detail, and so well made! Great job, my friend.
Thank you so much 😀 More to come and hopefully it only gets better.
That was terrific. And so much history. Thanks Brickey
No mention of Walt’s MAPO Company, huh? He actually triple dipped. He took direct proceeds from MAry POppins to build his MAnufacturing and Production Organization which WED “hired” to construct Disneyland. It was folded into WED where it also separately held the patents and intellectual property rights to audio-animatronics. I was really hoping you would get into that. Great video though. Walt’s big motivation doing all this abstraction was to keep control. He was always fearful of bankers taking things over and pushing him aside. Some may call it greed but he saw it all as a way to protect his dream. This was to be a money making endeavor to be sure but it was also a deeply personal artistic expression. Thanks for the great video.
I purposely keep these stories focused on one storyline to keep the videos under twenty minutes. As I'm doing all of this with no funding, and that's all I can afford. This first season is all about the different pieces of a much larger story I'm telling over 6 episodes. So don't worry I have plans to bring in other details.
@@dis.cover.disney Thank you for the thoughtful response. I look forward to future installments. I have just subscribed to your channel. In light of your remarks about funding, I highly recommend you activate your $Thanks button so viewers can send contributions to great videos like this one. I also suggest you enable membership or set up a Patreon account. If you do so, be assured that I will be among your first backers. Walt Disney is my personal hero and everything surrounding his life, his work, and his dreams is of continuing interest to me. Unfortunately he died 7 years before I was born so I never ever got the chance to meet him in person. If there is ever a time machine or a holodeck or some way to go back or recreate the past, top of my list would be to meet Walt Disney in the early days of Disneyland. The works by videographers like you are the very closest thing to that experience and in a way you do bring him back to life for your audience through your storytelling. So thanks for your efforts to date and thanks in advance for your future efforts, especially those that bring us closer to this most remarkable man.
This was great!
Disney!!
So freaking excited about this channel! Nailed it again, thank you for this and your story telling!! 🙌🏼
Glad you enjoy it!
Hey Bricky, I really enjoyed the video. I had no idea that started several companies that became Walt Disney companies
There was actually more, but I try to keep these focused to the main story and under twenty minutes since that's all I can "afford" to produce at this time. Glad you enjoyed it.
Just curious, though, how did ROY make out? What was his side of the story?
Sounds like a future video in the series...
Bravo!
Thanks!
To be correct.. it was ABC- United Paramount Theaters. Not Paramount studios, nor studio rival. United Paramount Theaters were spun off from Paramount Studios, and was strictly a theater chain, under an anti trust ruling in the early 50s. Paramount theaters, barred from film making, invested in ABC radio to create the American Broadcasting- Paramount Theaters television network. Disney obtained a major investment from ABC, in return ABC owned a 34% stake in the park, and Disney provided programming for the network as well as gaining important cross promotion for Disneyland during the park development.
WOW! Thank you Sir for another Home Run! Loved everything! I’ve never seen most of the footage used. And with the amazing history lesson you provide, I’ve had to watch several times to let all the info sink in. And I’m still watching 😊. With the quality of content you provide, you are an inspiration for us want to be creators trying to find our way. I hope to say one day in the parks.
I am so happy I ran across your Hey Brickey youtube channel, which lead me to this documentary. Wish I could remember which Vlogger led me to you, so I could thank them. You are awesome!!!
This is pretty cool. It's crazy to think his backyard railroad lasted for 3 years - it looks fun as anything, but it wouldn't take much to smash a leg or cut off a finger.
Brickey?! ❤
Yes??? It me ❤️
@@dis.cover.disney lol for some reason I read that in a Mario voice. "It's a me! a Brickey!" ❤️
Walt sure was a brilliantly stubborn risk taker... and it probably stemmed from working through the war and how livelihood was back when he was growing up. Tough times lead to being a tough businessman.
Well said ❤️
😊
This was good
Brickey, this video is amazing! As a lifelong Disney fan, I have been fascinated with your work as a vlogger. Now, with this new channel…I am even more engrossed in your content. It’s so perfect for the 100th! I feel like we don’t see this perspective at all and it’s refreshing. Thank you, Brickey!😊🤗👍🏻
Wow, thank you!
@@dis.cover.disney always a pleasure, Brickey. I think your passion for Disneyland (and actually Disney as a whole) really creates a ripple effect and brings other Disney fans together. Which is what community is all about :).
#DisneyDiva ❤❤❤❤❤
Crazy. Your logo looks a lot like another theme-park channel's logo. I was confused for a bit. Is that what you're going for?
Do you know who you are talking about? So, obviously not my intention. Please share so I can see if I need to adjust something on my end.
@@dis.cover.disney Glad to hear you didn't mean to duplicate something else. It's pretty similar to Defuntland's logo.
BTW: I watched this here and really enjoyed it. Good work. I was just struck by the logo similarities.
