After so much digging through forums and stressful nights of trial and error going through similar mods, this seems like the perfect one that takes all the other issues into account. Was hoping to you could answer a follow up question as well: You mention setting the side sensors to 200 to accommodate the extra sensitivity, but what number have you found works best for the inside/outside? Another piece of advice for anyone attempting this. Duct tape seems too thick and is pretty hit or miss. At least with this arrangement. Kept giving me high raw values when I'd screw the panels down. I ended up using cut-up post-it notes since I didn't have any painters tape, works great problem solved. Also, keep the painters tape/post-it notes more toward the center and leave a little bit of the sensor exposed near the end parts with the rubber O grommets. That was the last piece of the puzzle to get the raw values down to zero.
Honestly everyone's going to have different numbers for their setup, and what works best for me may not work best for you. Outside sensors don't really matter except for P1 right/P2 left if you're playing double. My inner sensors are set to 160 right now for up and down, and 180 for left and right just because those arrows are more prone to give pad greats for me.
