You do know that song was written in less than two hours especially for Elvis and he spent about a hour learning thst song. He laid down in a sound booth and sang it alone. Elvis was a very emotional singer and did great. He never had a voice lesson. Elvis didn’t have to have voice lessons. He had the natural ability to sing. It was a God given gift. Don’t you dare criticize his voice. You need to listen to Steve Bender tell the story about that performance.
I saw Elvis, in concert. He gave me a scarf. I was so close. My age, a prebubescent 12 year old girl. I'll never forget how he'd wiggle his finger and the audience just raised the rafters, screaming at the top of their lungs. Deafening. His band and singers on spot and talented. Elvis was mesmerizing, he gave me goose bumps. He was personable , joked with the audience. Got them involved. Told stories. The charisma, infectious. As I write this in 2022, I'm back in the Milwaukee arena, 1975. Yes ,I still remember the raw sexual appeal and talent of this 40 year old man. No other performer has ever really come close since his death. Ever. How did I get the ticket? My mom didn't want to go. My dad offered. I said yes. I had no idea what I was in for. I never attended a concert before this one. I use his old stage show to critique every concert I went to since 1975. Some have gotten close to stirring up my innards. But no one can compare to Elvis Aaron Presley.
Elvis the man, the performer, the musical creature was a masterpiece then, is a masterpiece now and will be a masterpiece FOREVER. So glad the Elvis film was made and thrilled to see new generations excited to see it. The rediscovery of Elvis Presley has been long overdue. Long live "The King"!! 🎙️🎤🎼♥️
Well, he did have a few no.1 albums, mostly "worldwide" hits in 2002, 2003(4), 2016. 2017(8)....And if Apple didn't release its video call service too quick, There's Always Me commercial was taking over the world...hail the King
There will never ever ever ever ever ever be another Elvis Presley... My mum's favourite of all time... He had everything, charm , charisma, good looks, oozing sex appeal and that voice..
The man could sing gospel like no other - his country album is brilliant - rock voice is pure and raw energy - ballad king that can have you in tears - and his 70s music I can never get enough of that. The greatest.
I used to think these things about his voice in the 70’s. But no-one around me did. So I am gratified that after so many years and generations that millions of people still hear it, discover it and enjoy it.

A man that was definitely touched by GOD! He was beautiful, charismatic, so very talented, humorous, generous to a fault, humble, and never took 1 single music lesson! Of course he had flaws just like us all, he was human! But, on the whole, he was the most talented entertainer that, as far as I am concerned, ever lived! He brought about a revolution in music and in society! He was, is, and always will be ELVIS PRESLEY, THE KING OF ROCK and ROLL!!! Thank you so much for your glowing reaction!!!
Freddie had a leg up on elvis in songwriting......but thats it. Elvis had everyone else beat in everything else. Still does to this day. Hes the greatest ever... no doubt.
I am 55 years old and Elvis was still alive and performing when I was young. Even though my style of music is Soul and R&B, I loved Elvis. I watched his movies endlessly and I listened to his albums all the time. He and Prince are my two all time favourite artists and I agree with Rebecca, he will be timeless. They will be speaking of Elvis hundreds of years from now.
Rebecca, this performance was the closing song of the Elvis 68 Comeback Special. Its lyrics were based on Martin Luther King's monumental I Have a Dream speech. Songwriter Earl Brown wrote it shortly after Dr. King's tragic assassination in Memphis just 2 months before this video was made. After Elvis heard the song's demo, he declared, "I'm never going to sing another song I don't believe in."🙏
I love that story. Elvis was so upset about the assassination of Martin Luther King. The Colonel was only concerned about the upcoming 68 Comeback Special. He told Elvis he had to get it together. He said, “ this has nothing to do with you Elvis!” Elvis slammed his fist on the table and said, “ This has everything to do with all of us!” You could see his heart and soul in that song as he sung it. Brings me to tears every single time.
I was 11 in 68 , loved going to Elvis movies saturday arfternoons , always loved listening to him , now more than ever a differnt appreciation. it stirs so much happiness when i hear an Elvis song.
As long as his music is always remembered, played, shared, he will never be forgotten and never really leave us.. He was so amazing and such a tragic loss to us all. Some of my all time favorites, so hard to pick from so many but his gospel songs, especially live versions, are absolutely amazing and so heart felt.. He had such talent, such passion, and such love for everyone around him, his friends, family, back up singers, band, fans.. he had a heart of gold..
I just don’t find anyone as charming or talented as Elvis in any genre of music. He can sing Gospel, Christmas, Country, Rock…anything, with a God given talent. His song Kentucky Rain is fantastic to listen to also.
He is undeniably the best looking man that ever walked. Add to that his presence, humanity, and a voice like no other it’s hard to imagine anyone replacing him. I grew up during this era and am grateful I did.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for confirming what we already believe in! He is the King of Rock and Roll! We still mourn him and we still love him. ❤
Elvis has captured your heart and soul like the rest of us , this man did have it all ,drop dead gorgeous looks, sense of humor, chrasima, stage presence, great dancer , great actor , and he did put so much passion and emotion and the power in his voice just makes you feel it deep down in your heart and soul ❤️

Again , I am crying now . Elvis Presley song touch my heart sooo deep . I have been through a lot of hurts and pain therefore, it is the amazing performance I would be listening for ever
Elvis asked for this song to be written in response to Dr kings death and this performance was the first in 7 years and to be his come back with another song that was initially picked out but Elvis felt it necessary for this song to be his comeback at that particular time!! His emotion was the message and I hat represented to what was happening at that time!I was 7 y/o when he died I remember crying in the backseat of our family car, I had no clue to why but knowing now all that history tells us and at 7, the world lost a legend!!
I’m such a new fan of Elvis thanks to the movie, and he’s just.. so beautiful, this song of his is my favourite and he truly deserved the best in the world, the movie had me sobbing 😭❤️

Enjoyed your reaction to If I Can Dream & your comments of the movie Elvis. Elvis & his body of work was God's gift to us to cherish for generations forever. After he created Elvis, it's obvious God broke his mold. We will never see an entertainer like The King ever again. You always compliment how handsome Elvis looked. Well Rebecca, I must say you are very easy to the eyes for me too 😍 ! Keep up your great work! Thank you!
Never once performed poorly, even his last performance his performance of Unchanged Melody is absolutely mind blowing...could see the pain he was in, and a few weeks later he passed
Yes and the way he sang Hurt and How Great Thou Art at that same concert. Wow! His voice reached it's peak of perfection that evening... amazing to say the least. ⚡⚡
Elvis had no voice coaching or lessons of any kind his voice and talent was God given,,,,as his mother told him when he was little "you are special" and so he was and is and his voice and his charisma was there for the world to see,,, what a gift he was to us all,,,RIP GREAT MAN 💞🎶🇦🇺🌺
The waving and movement of his body at the end, is usually described as “pacifying”, often encountered in small children in distress or emotional pain. Elvis honest approach to this song, his love for his mother and the fact he only sang it once more because it was too painful for him, speak volumes for Elvis and his true soul.
