@柏靈頓 : At most it would only require converting the original mods from Skyrim like we need to do from LE to SE or vice versa. Or how they started this project by converting Oblivion into the Skyrim engine (thankfully nowhere near as daunting a task, lols). People will certainly be doing a whole lot of that if need be. ^-^
When I first bought Oblivion 14 years ago, I didn't know what it would do to me and my life. Not only did it introduce me to the world of Fantasy-RPGs and therefore is responsible for many beautiful memories and the positive marks this genre left on my soul, but is also one of the main carriers of childhood-nostalgia in my life. When Skyblivion will be released, I'm not only going to play a game, I'm going to relive a life-period in my mind and enjoy this masterpiece at the same time. I honestly raise my hat to you guys. This is beautiful.
When my old man married his new wife and I suddenly had two new step-brothers we didn't have a lot in common. But I suggested he get Oblivion on a whim because it looked cool. Well we spent hundreds of hours together playing Oblivion. That game is what brought us together and made us into the best of friends. To this day we talk about all the good times we had playing Oblivion. It quite literally changed my life for the better.
Sadly they don't want to accept money unless absolutely needed. But in case they ever have a donation stream again, then you could technically give them money, but really they only want to make this on their own means. Which is both admirable but still a bit saddening cause the community is fully willing to throw money at this. Probably even more than a new bethesda game, though that's mainly me being cynical of some recent bethesda games.
@Ucallit 71 Yeah Bethesda has gotten rather lazy over the years. They had to rush out Morrowind to avoid going bankrupt, Morrowind was a big success, putting them in a good spot. But they've adopted the mentality that once a game is "good enough" they can ship it, for Oblivion this wasn't as obvious because the big upgrades in mechanics and such over Morrowind, sure plenty of things were also dropped but it wasn't a glaring problem. But I feel like the jump from Oblivion to Skyrim was a bit different, it just felt more lazy, especially on the story elements. Some things were changed but there's plenty of things that were taken away with only a few things added on. Follow this line of thought for the Fallout series as well, leading to the end point that is Fallout 76 and it's disaster. I'd like to see them put more effort into the details for the next game, sadly I can only hope they change their course, otherwise they may very well just nail their own proverbial coffin shut.
I doubt the team wants to get in any murky legal situations where they’re profiting off of someone else’s game. Bethesda (and now MS I suppose) would be less likely to send a cease and desist if it’s just a free mod that, if anything, requires you to own or buy Skyrim to play.
Think about it this way, once it's done they can put working on this on there resume, thats worth a lot more then the small ammount of money they would get if people donated and had to spread it amongst the team.
This game seriously has the best community there is! This is more than a mod, this is more than an expansion, this is something completely new and never seen before in any other game. The players evolved into modders and modders evolved into devs, refreshing and renewing the experience into something completely new. We are watching the game´s rebirth through the effort and dedication of its most skilled and passionate players! I'm speechless!!!
I'd say Skywind is more promising, seeing how Morrowind is the better game compared to Oblivion. Also, new TES will be released on a brand new engine, which we'll have a teaser of in Starfield, apparently.
As someone who never played Oblivion (Skyrim was my first foray into the TES universe, and is still today one of my favorite experiences of all time), I'm waiting until this gets released in order for it to be my first Oblivion experience I know it'll be a while before this sees a 1.0 release, but I'm willing to wait if it looks even half as good as this
Skywind is pretty much the same scale. They even had to voiceline everything. Both great projects. I just wish they worked all on the same project and had released one of them by now.
did you try Enderal (and the dlc Forgotten Stories)? This is also a fanmade "mod" even though it is a completely new game, also with many new textures, a completely new story and the voice acting is top notch - in the video for the mod they say you can play around 30-100 hours (I had 80 hours when i finished nearly 100% on my first run) - it is 4 free on steam if u have skyrim over steam, else u gotta install it over nexusmods - one of the best gaming experiences i had so far, and the story is so much better than skyrim's could be
If it's ever finished, you mean. I love all these massive modding projects, but pretty much none of them ever get completed. (Or it takes like a decade.) Enderal is the only giant mod that's actually been finished, I believe. For Skyrim at least.
Ah, yes, I'm ready to keep coming back to this game for more, for the rest of my life, starting as soon as it's released. No rush though, I can already tell the wait is going to be MORE than worth it!
In the german skyrim version there is still a bug with the foresworn quest in markath. If u complete it and go into the temple again, they imprison you again. I avoided Markath as much as I could in every playtrough ever since...
Skyrim Explorer I really just mean the effort of this team makes Bethesda look bad, clearly this team would make way more passionate devs then the ones at Bethesda
Gosh I remember helping Rob choose the material for the gem of that sword 8:40 on a live stream, I'm glad I could help even if it was for a really little detail.
You could learn on Arcane University Discord, it's a server dedicated to teaching skills needed in modding. Which collaborates with many different Skyrim mod projects, including Skyblivion.
I haven't been playing games for years now, but when I was a teen, I spent hundreds of hours in Oblivion. Seeing this really makes me nostalgic and your dedication and passion hits me right in the feels. Thank you for doing this. This looks like a official remaster, you are as professional as any studio, maybe even more so! Y'all should get hired by Bethesda (or Microsoft) and given a blanc slate!
@@jonathanbyrd12 Well they did say it was going to play like a dlc for skyrim, since they already did a live stream for skyblivion and it was on skyrim special edition (its still a demo though so I really don't know for sure but I think its going to be in vanilla skyrim with all dlc's or skyrim special edition)
I'm ready to play, WE are ready to play. This project is more anticipated than the next Bethesda game or the one after that... or the one after that. This project is born of love for the game not the buck and that alone makes it better in every way ❤️

I've played them all from Arena to Skyrim to ESO. Skyrim is the best of the bunch in the sense of "succesful" it has earned/gained them the most money and is the most popular game LITERALLY. Opinion wise though i would say Oblivion is more interesting and has more to it, but has becomed "dated". Oblivion offers a lot more in terms of game experience and a lot more of it, while Skyrim is large and has a lot to do but is essentially just copy pasted of the same 100 assets. I loved the idea of creating my own class in Oblivion and the idea of Athletics/jumping and "grinding" to get things up, it made me feel great when i had 100 stat in something. While in Skyrim getting 100 in a stat didn't have that same "op" feel. I also weirdly like the Blacksmith hammers to upkeep my equipment and really wished something like that stayed throughout Skyrim as made carrying around more then 1 weapon crucial. I think Skyrim's blacksmithing either needs to go or needs a rework to be MORE. Oblivion you had this weapon you found/bought/earned and a backup or two incase they broke/ran out of jucie. You couldn't go to a smith and make an op/haxors weapon and go PAWNT dragons for giggles. Now i think a blacksmithing system of both skyrim/oblivion would/could work but needs to be retooled to be less OP. TL;DR Give me a game with Oblivion's Leveling System with Skyrim's/Fallout 4 crafting system and Morrowind's Magic System (maybe a bit more balanced/retooled) with the open worldness of ESO/Oblivion. And you got a solid game.

I think just changing the "theme" of the original Skyrim UI is adequate, but just changing the color looks kind of weird. If there is a way to replace the backgrounds with an actual parchment texture rather than just making it parchment colored, that would be great.
I think the pattern work on the UI needs to be changed. The heavy linework is inspired by biking iconography and symbolism- which parallels nordic Skyrim culture.
I actually think the minimalist transparent beige GUI looks good, but I haven't played oblivion so parchment texture wouldn't bring out that nostalgic feeling to me. Maybe a combination of both would work. Like keep it simple but on the edges make it look old and rough?

When my old man married his new wife and I suddenly had two new step-brothers we didn't have a lot in common. But I suggested he get Oblivion on a whim because it looked cool. Well we spent hundreds of hours together playing Oblivion. That game is what brought us together and made us into the best of friends. To this day we talk about all the good times we had playing Oblivion. It quite literally changed my life for the better.
@@Appreciation-Community wholesome
Kind of funny, but my mind idealized the graphics of the original Oblivion over the years. Like it always looked as amazing as Skyblivion does.
Brings a tear to my eye. It's like recreating my childhood before my eyes.
"Free of charge" ... where can I throw money at this?
@@darkrite9000 I seriously wouldn't mind supporting them.
Wouldn't they be sued for trying to make money from someone else's IP?
I doubt the team wants to get in any murky legal situations where they’re profiting off of someone else’s game. Bethesda (and now MS I suppose) would be less likely to send a cease and desist if it’s just a free mod that, if anything, requires you to own or buy Skyrim to play.
That Imperial Guard sure knows how to narrate.

This guy has the most Imperial sounding voice. He better voice a few of them, can easily imagine it coming from a soldier.
Seriously though, his voice is pitch fucking perfect.
Is he one of the development team? Or a voice actor hired for the dev diaries?
I'd say he would be in the game, it's possible he would be part of the voice acting team reading from a script. Just a guess though I'm not sure.

I'd say Skywind is more promising, seeing how Morrowind is the better game compared to Oblivion.
Also, new TES will be released on a brand new engine, which we'll have a teaser of in Starfield, apparently.
Cuz it's not taking a million years
Remember, this is a work from heart. This is so wholesome. And for free? Man, just take my money.
As someone who never played Oblivion (Skyrim was my first foray into the TES universe, and is still today one of my favorite experiences of all time), I'm waiting until this gets released in order for it to be my first Oblivion experience
I know it'll be a while before this sees a 1.0 release, but I'm willing to wait if it looks even half as good as this
This will go down as the single greatest fan-gaming project in history.
Skywind is pretty much the same scale. They even had to voiceline everything. Both great projects. I just wish they worked all on the same project and had released one of them by now.
Don't forget Black Mesa, the remake of Half-Life 1 on HL2's engine
did you try Enderal (and the dlc Forgotten Stories)? This is also a fanmade "mod" even though it is a completely new game, also with many new textures, a completely new story and the voice acting is top notch - in the video for the mod they say you can play around 30-100 hours (I had 80 hours when i finished nearly 100% on my first run) - it is 4 free on steam if u have skyrim over steam, else u gotta install it over nexusmods - one of the best gaming experiences i had so far, and the story is so much better than skyrim's could be
If it's ever finished, you mean. I love all these massive modding projects, but pretty much none of them ever get completed. (Or it takes like a decade.)
Enderal is the only giant mod that's actually been finished, I believe. For Skyrim at least.
@@Caidezes They said on stream they're like 85% done with this project now. Wouldn't make sense to just quit at this stage.
The voiceover guy... I could listen to him speak about anything and be absolutely enthralled.
Ah, yes, I'm ready to keep coming back to this game for more, for the rest of my life, starting as soon as it's released. No rush though, I can already tell the wait is going to be MORE than worth it!
“It suffered from constant crashes, and it was ripe with bugs-“
So it was a normal Bethesda game, got it.
Pretty much haha
In the german skyrim version there is still a bug with the foresworn quest in markath. If u complete it and go into the temple again, they imprison you again. I avoided Markath as much as I could in every playtrough ever since...
Ima be honest this project makes Bethesda look like a fucking joke lol 😂
I mean look at this it’s incredible
Bugs, maybe. But crashes? In Skyrim SE I experience crashes once a week or two - with almost 200 mods :)

@@msihcs8171 Sorry, I tend to disagree. Ok, Skyrim has become bugs but a game like Skyrim tend to have it because of thousands of possibilities. Still, they went on to release patches on their own. Also, they tend to improved a lot in bugs department in SSE. Witcher 3 also faced a lot of bugs during launch but CDPR fixed them as quickly as they can. For FO76 also, a lot of bugs are fixed. Totally agree! Played Skyrim and it was fun, but didn't give me the feeling Oblivion did. Cannot wait to put hours and hours into Oblivion again.
Never know Microsoft may walk in last minute and make a deal with the developers.

I was thinking the same thing, the parchment is iconic.
Transparent beige isn't cutting it IMO.
I think the pattern work on the UI needs to be changed. The heavy linework is inspired by biking iconography and symbolism- which parallels nordic Skyrim culture.
I did mention a mod to them called Dear Diary - Paper SkyUI Menus Replacer SE. I think something like that could work if they tweak it a bit.
There wil probably be a mod for that
I actually think the minimalist transparent beige GUI looks good, but I haven't played oblivion so parchment texture wouldn't bring out that nostalgic feeling to me. Maybe a combination of both would work. Like keep it simple but on the edges make it look old and rough?
