Hi, Sean. Here Rick from the Netherlands. You're making very nice and interresting video's. i have more than 30 years racingpigeons and i like the race's from 500 tot 700 Km at most. Your pigeons look very healty!! nice to see that you have new young birds, the last 3 days i had also my first young birds for the 2018 season. After seeing your video off the GPS rings i bought myself a set by Skyleader and tested it last weekend, and it's works well. Greats Rick.
Thank you Rick! I would love to visit the Netherlands some day. You have a lot of experience racing pigeons and I'm sure a lot to offer new flyers. If you happen to see a question in the comments that you can help a new flyer with by all means pass on some of your great knowledge. I'm glad to hear the Skyleader GPS has been working for you. Has anything surprised you now that you can see what route your birds are flying?
I haven't test it with my pigeons, in the Netherland the most pigeons are not flying outside from september to march, in these months we have a lot of problems with the birds of prey. I've test it while I was biking, I will start in april with the pigeons. When I see questions from new flyers, I'm willing to help them if I can. If you will come to the Netherlands I will like to introduce you to the Dutch way of flying pigeons.
Aloha Sean! I know nothing about Pigeons or turtles like Bob but very intriguing videos into another world here on Oahu, Hawaii. Got me and my kids thinking about those flocks of pigeons we see flying around our house in Hahaione valley every morning on our way to school! Love your videos Sean!!
Thank you very much! My grandparents live in Hahaione. It’s an interesting hobby for sure. I think it’s a great hobby for parents and their children to share because it teaches compassion, responsibility, and will keep children home but also outside and away from tv and video games. Aloha, Sean
hey shaun hope you have a great 2018 season with your birds,,am glad you are trying to get more people in to the sport i have done alot over they years my self,,with great success!! for new starts!!am also glad i got to see bob!!!my friend am so happy now!!!lol thanks for showing him in a video!!! on another note the pigeons you want to hand raise let the parents do it they need there immunity passed on for the foster parents milk its key to there start to life for a good immune system hand raising them at 7 days old is to soon,,the key would be spend time with them and get them eating on there own,i have been able to get youngsters to eat in the nest with there parents at 14days old as they just copy them, its just my views and experience that am sharing, kingzie
Thank you Kingzie! I'm glad someone with great experience like you is willing to help us new guys in the sport! I'm not going to hand raise the racers this year but just the giant runts for pets. I forget where I read the first 7 or so days is most important for the birds to get the crop milk from the parents but I'm sure you're correct.
you are very correct shaun the first 7 to 10 days is the most important time for the youngsters,,this is where they get there immunity from even as pets its not a wise idea hand raising them there is no product on the market that can replace pigeon milk,,dont get me wrong you can do it when you need to save a pigeon thats worth saving,,with a formula but people always wonder why handraised pigeons get ill ??this is why!! its always best fostering them under other pigeons so they get immunity from the milk alot dont understand this,,other species of birds is totaly different and maybe hand raised as there fed food by parent,,what baby pigeons are fed when they hatch is not food the parents have eaten it is crop milk produced by the pigeons before eggs hatch,,
So I have been doing more research because the last thing I want to do is give people bad advice. This is what I have found so far, scientific studies have found that pigeons are one of only three birds in the world that produce a form of milk and in pigeons this crop milk is fed to their chicks for about 10 days. I have hand raised many pigeons from 7 days old with the intent to give them time to get all the protein, fat, and antibodies from the crop milk but I think I will wait until day 10 from now on. I don't think I will be hand raising racers from now on just pets.
you are learning fast shaun!!i only ever pass on information to other that is backed up by scientific evidence that i know to be 100% true not like others in the pigeon world do,,is just hear say!!maybe thats why i have been so successful over the years with pigeons!!and i can tell you this i still learn somthing new every day!!thats for sure,,i dont like talking alot about it on open forums if you like get my email from hawaiian brian and we can talk more freely,, regards kingzie
Happy New Year, Sean, Aloha Pigeons, and Bob. Wow, Bob is huge. How long have you had him. Anyways, be safe and enjoy tonight as we all welcome the new year.
Smart looking birds you got there , it must be great to live in a hot sunny place . I would never work just fly pigeons all day. Flip flops in the loft you live the dream lol, love the videos.
Thank you Joe M Tipplers. Love watching your videos. Your loft is so well made and thought out. Your birds are amazing. I think my birds would look at me like I was crazy if I told them to fly at night. Aloha!
Hello Sean, I noticed you use sand in your nests. I was wondering what type of sand do you use and do you treat the sand beforehand? Thank you for sharing about your birds!
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "race pigeons" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Hansaac Riyliver Scheme - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
Nice Sean! Looking forward to watching the progress especially how you hand raise the babies. FYI- I just ordered my first pair of racers (David Clausing bloodline) and can't wait to learn more from your vids. My next goal it to build a loft just like your smaller one because I only have two small kit boxed right now. Thanks Buddy for sharing!
Fantastic Eric! I'm going to be extending my flying loft soon and will be shooting some videos during that process which should provide a little better view on how it was constructed. Looking forward to updates on your racing pigeons.
Hey Sean, I just lost my first pigeon yesterday and couldn't imagine the feeling when you lost 15 birds that you hand raised. Do you clock your birds on every training flight and what clock do you recommend? Also, do you pin your birds wings the the first few times you let them out? Thanks
Sorry to hear that Eric. I have only raced birds that I have raised so it's been a little easier then settling older birds. I don't always clock when training but there is no harm in doing so. I have an old Benzing clock. I would check with the club in your area and they will tell you which clocks they use. I have not pinned my birds wings. Just make sure to trap train your birds before you let them out. If you can get them to breed and let them out with birds in the nest they should be more likely to return. Best of luck, aloha!
Aloha , love watching your videos on the stock loft build its giving me some great Ideas. I am currently racing pigeons in the Maryborough Pigeon Racing Club its a three hour drive north of Brisbane QLD Australia. Do you have plans for your stock loft and race loft ? I would love to build them.
Im planning to hand raise a young bird after a week of age from some of my racers this season too. I just want a bird that will jump on my shoulder like your ls did everytime i go in the loft. Great video as always!
Thank you OOATV! So there have been a few very experienced flyers that have advised me in the comments below to not to hand raise my birds so I have been doing some research so as not to give people bad advice. This is what I have found, scientific studies have found that pigeons are one of only three birds in the world that produce a form of milk and in pigeons this crop milk is fed to their chicks for about 10 days. I have hand raised many pigeons from 7 days old with an intent to give them time to get all the protein, fat, and antibodies from the crop milk but I might consider waiting to until day 10 from now on. Hope this helps and best of luck!
aloha my crazy pigeon braddah!!! Kingzie and Heyl have the facts right... I did the same. Hand raised because i had to. But then again there is nothing wrong with frequent handling and occasional feeding in addition to the parents. NO PEANUTS!!! LOL I had one pigeon i had to hand raise and he turned out to be a character... He was always stealing my keys! That bird that took your wind guard off your mike was funny as hell! He reminded me of my bird. he also used to stick his beak in my ear when he roosted on my shoulder... drove me crazy... lol..... Congrats on becoming a grandfather again! I hope you and your family have a safe a great new year!!! Ha-y-n Brian
The racers are safe this year, lol, they will be raised by their parents! I understand what you guys are saying and that's why I will give the racers the best chance possible in terms of health gained from their parents crop milk. However, I still want to hand raise the giant runt but I think I will wait until 10 days old. That bird that took my wind guard was one of the birds I had hand raised this past year. Happy New Year to you and your family! Aloha!
hey sean, so its been 3 months from the time the giant runts chicks hatched, how are they doing now as hand raised birds? maybe you might want to post a video update for those runts. that would cool!
I really wish I had good news about the giant runts but they have had 6 chicks within the last few months and each one has either died before it could get out of the egg or died soon after. I'm going to have to separate them for a while and treat them with medication or send a dropping sample to be analyzed to see if the results provide any reasons why they can not produce healthy chicks. I hope to have a positive update about them in the future.
that's sad, but I just hope you'll get some remedy to whatever the cause of unhealthy chicks. looking forward to seeing your update to the loft extension and to your 2018 birds
Great video mate! I would refrain from taking the babies away from its mother though, reason being, you cannot replicate pigeon milk, also immunity comes into play with it too, just spend as much time with them as possible for tameness, great video though buddie keep us updated!!
bro, so love your videos, maybe we both can share each others video for this 2018 racing season. I got 6 newly hatched chicks yesterday myself. looking forward to more of your videos.
Thank you Dominic! I'm really looking forward to your update videos this year. It's exciting to have new racers being born and as always hoping they will do well. Happy new year to you and your family! Aloha
Sean, I like your videos. What is the sandy material in the nest bowls? Oh, why not call the newly-hatched babies "squabs" instead of "chicks." Chickens have chicks; pigeons have squabs. Thanks, Steven
It's sand in the nest bowls. I know the correct term is squab, just never got use to calling them that. I will call them squab or hatchlings from now on because chicks in incorrect.
Hi. I really like your videos and I’ve been learning a lot from them. I was wondering is it possible to put a male with two females and he will mate with both of them?
Thank you Israel Garcia! Someone else in the comments was wondering the same thing. I'm not sure because I have not seen a cock do this but hopefully someone in the comments has some experience with this or I can ask this in a future video. Aloha
Hiii bro.... You are amazing ..i wish i would have a loft like your.. And do like your pigeons are amazing ...what all think you use t make one loft i wish i have a loft like you if you see plzzz send the meterial need to build a loft
Built mostly out of 2x4 for the framing, 2x6 for the floor, plywood for the back and top, expanded metal for the floor, and 1x2 wire for the front and top and sides. Cage dimensions are 12'x12'. I posted videos on the steps I took to build the loft. Sorry, I don't have any detailed plans. Aloha, Sean
Sean how long after you introduce the cocks to the hens do you get eggs ? what I am seeing with your videos now is that they all kind of lay at the same time and hatch babies more or less the same day or two
Yes you can. That's inbreeding which includes father to daughter, mother to son, and brother to sister. It's good to introduce new blood at some point too.
I would prefer you not use sand as a nest material and use only Nest pads ?? Correct me if I am wrong . But in the past I found out that bugs Weis takes they tend to come from the droppings in the sand in the nest Bowl and parasites contract themselves onto babies or squabs ??
I'm from Philippines Can you give some 1 pair racing pigeons? I hope you will see this my comment. You have a great racing pigeons. Have a nice day and God bless
Am done Belding my own big cage so can I have 4 pigones that race two males and two females at Bloemfontein at peleser BUESUMBOS number 16 search it when you don't know where it is please I don't have money for you I a child and I love pigones can you please send me pigones 🙏🙏🙏😀😀

"Not cool bro" 🤣😂this dude seems so chill nd entertaining at the same time. I like his vibe 😂
Lol! Thank you! It has to be the music. But I like talking and learning about pigeons.
Hi Shaun to stop birds going into wrong box, stagger the nest box fronts, works a treat, no need for fronts, Bob looks fantastic,
Thank you for the great tip!

on another note the pigeons you want to hand raise let the parents do it they need there immunity passed on for the foster parents milk its key to there start to life for a good immune system hand raising them at 7 days old is to soon,,the key would be spend time with them and get them eating on there own,i have been able to get youngsters to eat in the nest with there parents at 14days old as they just copy them,

Veri nice
Birds look great!!!!!
Thank you very much Danny! I'm always looking forward to your next video!
Good video👍

What time tomorrow will you be releasing the birds? I'm asking because I would like to be at Sandy's when they approach the island.
Released them 8/3 already. They didn't do so well. Will be in my next video in a few days.
Can I buy a pair of pigeons sir ?
Hi. I really like your videos and I’ve been learning a lot from them. I was wondering is it possible to put a male with two females and he will mate with both of them?

some males can be studded search the "bull system".
Your birds are very tame are you hand raise them ? Nice video very informative.
Thank you stratos5907! I did hand raise a lot of my birds but I don't plan to this year.
Sand in nest bowl? How do you like it? Dirt won't get in babies eyes?
It works well, easy to clean, and birds stay dry.
Nice video but you make on how to pigeon baby hand feed....
Hiii bro.... You are amazing ..i wish i would have a loft like your.. And do like your pigeons are amazing ...what all think you use t make one loft i wish i have a loft like you if you see plzzz send the meterial need to build a loft

Sean how long after you introduce the cocks to the hens do you get eggs ? what I am seeing with your videos now is that they all kind of lay at the same time and hatch babies more or less the same day or two
Do they pair for life? Or you breed them with others too?
I switch up the pairs hoping that I can produce a better homing pigeon.
Hi. I was wondering if it is okay to mate siblings or if it’s not recommended.
Yes you can. That's inbreeding which includes father to daughter, mother to son, and brother to sister. It's good to introduce new blood at some point too.
AlohaPigeons Thank you
What bloodlines do you have? Just subscribed and started watching you from North Carolina.
Most are Houben and Vandenabeele.
A good idea for a video might be sharing some pedigrees or breedings on your birds. Also, a video showing how you go about choosing your pairs.
Did you have a fantail
Yes, I use it as my dropper to train my birds to land on the landing board.
I enjoy your videos bro keep posting :)
Thank you very much Pigeon Master!
WoW
Hi bro.. what Happen bro? Why ru not releasing video ?? I miss you bro
Sorry, I was out of town for a few months. Hope to have an update soon. Aloha!
@@alohapigeons9440 okay bro :) thanks
Upto how many hours ur pegeons can fly...
Our longest race in Hawaii is pretty short, only about 4 to 5 hours flight time.
AlohaPigeons thx, apart from race wen u flew them at home and they fly around ur home, how many hours / minutes they fly before getting down
I would prefer you not use sand as a nest material and use only Nest pads ?? Correct me if I am wrong . But in the past I found out that bugs Weis takes they tend to come from the droppings in the sand in the nest Bowl and parasites contract themselves onto babies or squabs ??
I find it much easier to clean the sand then pads but I've used pads too.
Okay, 🙂 yup learn as i go too man
Wow
Thanks!
Can we use clothes on their nest bowls?
I don't see why not. Most important is to keep the nest dry.
Why they not get mad at you when you hold there babies?
They get a little mad. Some more than others.
Hi. How are you long time now no video are you ok ?
Doing good, just a little busy. I think I can post an update video today or tomorrow.
Thats good to know you are ok bro. Good give you good life and healty life.
