Thank you for your review. I purchased one based on your review and my wife loved it as a Christmas present this morning. The quality of the display and color resolution is great. However, there are several gotchas you do not mention: 1. The device is NOT compatible with the MacOS. As a result, I have found no way to upload images directly from my computer (a HUGE negative). 2. The internal memory is 32G which is good, but there is only space for 12,000 photos, not 40,000 as you and the Pexar website quote. The difference in the total number of photos is due to the 640K photo file size you quote. Obviously one needs a photo with 2000 pixels on the long edge to fill the display's 2K screen. Most users will be using digital camera with a 35mm film aspect ratio of 1.66, therefore the minimum file size for the 2K screen is 2,666K, which corresponds to an image size of 2000 x 1333 pixels. The display is 2000 x 1200, so either 133 pixels on the short edge are cropped off, or the image is shrunken slightly to fit. Either way, the actual file size required for the display is 4.2 times larger than you suggest. Admittedly, 12K photos is a lot, but that assumes the users appropriately down-sample their photos for the display. More likely, users will be uploading full-sized images, which are larger than necessary files, which will mean even less photos can be uploaded. One more note on this point, the 2.66K file size for best image quality can be assured when images are uploaded from SD cards. I am not so sure the images are full 2K resolution when uploaded from the included smartphone app, as they do not appear nearly as sharp on the screen as those specially sized for the screen and uploaded from an SD card. 3. The largest SD card that can be used is 32G, which again is fine for most users, but I have hundreds of thousands of photos I would like to have on the display. Why not allow the SD card to be any size, so the images can be stored and played directly from there? 4. This next complaint may be due to my ignorance, as I just got the device and may not have figured out how to do this one thing (there are essentially NO usable instructions included with the device). The next complaint is I have found no way yet to "select all" when trying to import photos from an SD card. The SD card interface for uploading images is a screen that shows all images on the card (regardless of folder organization, which is good and bad). The user can sort the images in ascending or descending order based on file name, but near as I can tell, the user needs to click on each individual image to "check" it for import. I guess I am not going to upload anywhere near 12,000 photos, let alone the manufacturer's recommended 40,000 photos (can you imagine clicking on 40,000 photos one at a time to "check" them for important?). Like I said, I might have missed a "select all" icon. If so, perhaps you can let us know what that icon looks like. 5. Lastly, the packaging of the device is super excessive. The manufacturer includes printed cards that suggest the purchaser use the box for storage or holding a photo. That's nice and all, but how could the manufacturer assume that more than a small fraction of their customers would like to use left over packaging box for the uses they describe. I am sure there is someone that will find a packaging box desirable for a picture display, but I am not one of them. In the end I felt bad about throwing away all that packaging. I don't want you or anyone else to think I do not like this digital photo frame. I do for the sole reason that images look good. Otherwise, in my opinion it is not even close to the 5-star review you suggest, but could be with at least a 4-star device if a software update gives MacOS support, which should dramatically improve image management on the device. All the best.

@@btonelli hey I just saw this, could you give me a breakdown of what is included with subscriptions and what isn't? I really liked this one compared to others... but am hesitant cuz of this guy's comment lol
most of them have a con or cons tied to their apps and how you manage them, unfortunately. Frameo powered frames is one of the better apps and is UK privacy compliant. You could always subscribe for just a month ($2), do what you need to do, and then end your subscription. Not saying this is great, but overall, it's one of the better apps with a few cons. Also for clarification, yes you can only upload 10 at a time over wifi, but, you can keep batching them. This important detail was kind of difficult to find.

Good review, although would be nice if you went into the details of the frameo free vs sub version. Can we stop with this partner crap please? Just call her what she is, wife / girlfriend, whatever. Why is everyone afraid to refer to significant others as what they actually are?? I have never called my wife my partner in my life, and we've been together for over 20 years.
