I remember watching this video before .y practical exam . And during exam I heated the same way and damn my teacher literally ate me screaming that "heating Benzoic acid is not in the question paper " He isn't even a good chm teacher 🥲 my junior frm class 11 literally came together and complained abt him to principal 🥲🥲🤌🏻
Barfoed test is basically used to identify monosaccharides. I didn't find this test for the ISC class -XII practical curriculum. However, thanks for your suggestion. I will try to perform the test and upload. Thank you.
I don't think so. Benzoic acid or sodium benzoate.. These type of preservatives are generally used to preserve acid containing food like salads, pickle etc. Sodium benzoate on reaction with vitamin C (ascorbic acid) may lead to formation of benzene which is a known carcinogen. So, one must be aware about the amount of preservatives. However, for arecanut, I don't think benzoic acid should be used. Arecanut itself is a very hard and dry fruit. It will not undergo any fermantion for a well long period of time.

No.. We use Bromine water or alkaline KMnO4 for the test of unsaturation.
