This was great stuff that I really needed to learn at this stage of the art. So, thank you both very much!

I presume that if you were to stain the wood, you would do that before the pour filling step. Is this correct?

Does putting the pore-filler on prevent the oil finisher from soaking in to the filled pores?

Great video! Any thoughts on whether penetrating epoxy might work the same? My concern is I wouldn't get down to wood on the flat surfaces like you did with the high performance epoxy.

Hey! Sorry for missing this! Yes penetrating epoxy will do the same thing, you may just need more coats if it’s a very porous wood. Penetrating is obviously thinner and would do exactly what your concern is. 👍🏻

Great job. It’s a very detailed finish but I like it and think I will follow it moving forward. I would like to know what sandpaper was used once you went past 225 please.

@matt_adelaide if you really want to polish things up, search up bowling ball polishing pads on Amazon. 500 grit up to 4000!

Nice video, I learned a lot. FYI: Dude, I know it's a guitar finishing video but I worried for you how fast your face becomes red when you do your little stunt between shots. You should go on carnivore or Keto diet. Anyway the guitar looks nice and I will surely use the same method to finish mine. Thanks.

    Hi
very nice detailed video, thanks a lot.
I am curious about this walrus oil furniture butter.
From your video, it’s color look quite neutral, is it really the case ?
I am looking into something like that ti finish a guitar made of padauk. I’d like to keep the natural orange color of the wood as much as possible !
Thanks for any tips you might have !

Resin? Use layers of deep penetrating oil only!

This video deserves millions of clicks. What a superb class. Thank you very much.
_From epoxy filling I don't think much of that smoothness is all wood. Pores are topped w pure resin, Im sure some fibers have soaked some resin too...
_Also, after epoxy you are going from a Starting from 600 which doesn't take out much material. So despite the plastic card thingy, ur prob looking at an epoxy film
_Even if 30%+ is epoxy surfaced, it ain't so "Natural Guitar Finish". This technically
_Maybe consider "Mastering the Natural Guitar Finish Look" as a title

I've been trying to build a guitar kit for a while now. I previously built one but the finish came out awful due to my inexperience working with wood but also some of the steps I saw in other videos had me using poly or sprays which I have no clue how to use. This video breaks it down to its simplest form. I recently used similar techniques for a butchers block and it came out beautifully. That gave me the confidence to go ahead with my guitar kit which I will start this weekend.
