Yes teaching is very hard, teachers is always busy preparing materials for children's activity to learn.

I loved your point about a student not participating or getting up and wandering is not a reflection of teaching. Unfortunately, evaluators usually don’t see it that way and give a negative appraisal for not redirecting or engaging all students. Any advice? Thank you!

*sigh* I wish the powers that be had child development or early childhood degrees. These "one size fits all" evaluation systems were not designed for Pre-K.

I love this! 😊 These tips are so useful, without being condescending or unpleasant in any way (unlike some channels). I really appreciate this.

Loved this. Such an important topic. I have been thinking for the best couple of years that we ( our school) spends too much time in books that go with a “them” rather than just really good books. This was very validating for me. Thank you.

I loved this episode! I 100% agree with most things discussed I’m just having a hard time trying to sell to my director at my district that a child walking around is still participating ☹️ also, the other thing I’m having a hard time translating are some of these thoughts for a half day program…we have such a short amount of time that almost everything (aside from their 15 min recess) has to be structured 😔. Any ways, thanks for this!

Great points, Lisa! Yes, if you're in a public school your superiors may not have experience or education in child development. I taught half-day public Pre-K for 15 years. One thing about half-day you have to remember is that your students are still 4 years old, which means their brains grow and develop the exact same way as a student in a full-day program. The points Jamie and I are making in this episode are still valid for any child, in any setting. It can be a difficult mindset shift to make, but I know you can do it. :) Let me know what specific concerns you have, I'm happy to help.

Hello Ms. Vanessa, I have a quick question? Can you please tell me do you have your( jolly) phonics during circle time while on the carpet, or do you wait until the activities are done throughout the day?

You could do a phonics lesson during circle time if you choose.

Loooooooong circle times are such a waste of time IMO.
