Great video Sophie. I have been decluttering constantly for the last Four years. It has made a huge difference to not feeling stressed in my home.
You’re so right, cleaning out my mom’s house now & pulled over 1.6 actual TONS of nonsense out from 2 rooms. Your declutter helped me clean out my own home hoping to move soon. When the opportunity comes I’m ready to pack boxes without moving junk! This has been life changing & made a huge improvement to our quality of life ❤❤❤😊
This is my second year (I think) doing the Sophisticated Declutter. I stayed with you for the most part. Towards the end, we had a Community garage sale day, so I shifted my focus to some areas where there were specific things I needed to go through for the sale, that weren't in line with the plan. But, in the end, I got alot decluttered and did the very best I could, knowing that Next January, I'll be at it again, and it will be that much easier next time. We plan on moving in 2 1/2 - 3 years, so it is important for me to continue with the intensive decluttering. But also, by the time the six months was up, I was ready for a break. :)

Agreed we stock up on sale staples like paper products, garbage bags, but foods, shampoos, cleaning products we dont in case a new allergy forms
I wish I had followed along because my daughter just moved home at the end of June and now we're too crowded with stuff.
We have to let our daughter have a big say in her stuff being donated. She also would remember and ask for things…. She now will offer mom im ready to donate my legos😊. You bet!
Sophie, Great video. I decluttered my craft / sewing room. It was piled up from things just getting tossed in there for the past few yrs. It took months to go through everything & I only put back in what I wanted to keep. We did the same with our garage last fall. My sister, nephew, my Hubby & I took 2 days & got rid of 70% of the stuff in there. Maybe this fall, we'll get rid of the rest. It was stuff from when we got married 25 yrs ago & I had packed up my house & never looked in the boxes again. It's so freeing knowing that all that stuff is gone. 😊
I did the declutter challenge the first year you did it. After that, I never got back into it. I'd like to but mentally I've been dealing with a bunch of negativity from my husband calling me a "wannabe rich person" by decluttering and it has been so demoralizing. I declutter here and there but just haven't gotten back to the challenge. Maybe next year.
Hi Sophie, this was a great video. My biggest challenge with decluttering is that when I tackle an area, I take everything out, clean the space, and then start putting things back. I struggle with letting go of items because I feel too attached to them. I'm not sure how to overcome this issue 😕
I can't thank you enough for the 6 month challenge! My house feels so much better (now, I just need to clean!).
I plan on spending the next 2 months in the basement - which is my craft room/art studio. Way too many supplies....I will never use all that I currently have in my lifetime (I'm 69). I spent a few hours down there today and I already have 5 boxes (various sizes) of donations.

Did this when my folks passed 30 years ago,I was young, sadly I got rid of a few things I wish I had kept. Now it’s time to do my in-laws house and we definitely need to clear out a lot of stuff, they were smokers so we won’t be keeping anything from there.
This is a hard look at the reality of life. I need to do this for my children.
We did minimalism years ago and maintain now. Much easier when we moved too. His parents however😂. They love to save everything and make jokes boy you guys will have lots of stuff to go through when we croak😮. Yes they say that. I just say it will be no issue we will donate, and toss most of it quickly❤. They want to live buried alive…. Thatis their choice🤷♀️
I think that's mean spirited off your in-laws to take that attitude that you'll have to deal with their crap when they're gone. Thankfully, my mom didn't have clutter and it was relatively easy to clear her house. If my comment offended you, I apologize.
