I have GT Grade AL 2019 and my GF has an old mountain bike. We have been starting to ride some longer distances and she can't quite keep up. We just snagged this for her as a first gravel adventure bike and there were only a couple left. To adventure yay! Geat video!
Good and truthful review. There isn't much Kona Rove Al reviews in youtube. Yes, this entry level model has some lacks, but it doesn't mean you couldn't enjoy riding it, especially if you have low budget.
Had a skinny steel framed Kona in the early 90's that I absolutely adored. Of course it was stolen. Also can't seem to find that bike anywhere. This is the closest looking bike I've seen in awhile. As I stopped riding after my countless bikes stolen despite locks chains etc. Now just thinking of something to fo loops on. Home to home loops. Cool bike.
I ride my rove st with a tyre wide of 50 in the back and 57 in the front, which works perfectly :) But what I don't like about the rove (the only thing) that the back is not made for much wider tyres compared to the front. They designed the back fork of the sutra a bit smarter.
I'm thinking about getting this bike but I'm really only going to be riding it in the city. I am leading more towards this cause the area of the city I live in has horrible roads. is there anything else you would recommend that is more of a commuter/road bike and less for a commuter / mountain / road bike?
I would commute on this bike in the city! Throw some fenders on it and a rack if you need to! You could also look at their Dew models. the would also be excellent commuters! It will go as fast as you can make it go.
Hi mate, great video not seen any Kona rove AL review videos out there! Would you say the best upgrade you could do for this bike would be a new group set? Cheers
Well I would upgrade the wheels if you are going to make an upgrade at all. If you think you would want to upgrade components I would just look at buying the model up from this one. In the long run it would be more cost effective to do so. Also this year will be tough to get groups so that could become more of a headache.
Thanks for the review. Do you think it's possible to set up 700c wheels on it by any chance ? I wanted to get the Rove AL700 to get larger wheels but really don't like the color on that one..!
Hi, thanks for the review, very informative! Can I have your opinion on sizing: I’m 180 cm, or 5’9 I believe… my dealer said I’m a 56 right away, would you agree? I’m buying a steel rove here in Italy where I live, I can’t wait for New Bike Day 😬 thanks
I just recently bought a kona rove dl 2022, did I mess up? it cost me around $1750 US, around $2200 cad. How is this bike aluminium and cheaper. Why is the rove dl 2022 was so expensive than this?
I’m a younger cyclist (high school) who needs a new bike. The all road gravel bike style of this bike is what I need, but I can’t decide between the AL 650 or the plain Rove. Do you guys have any stand out reasons why I should pick the rove over the AL besides the steel frame? Thanks!
I don't get why the steel ones are more expensive than the aluminum framed ones, I guess they're selling it for as much as they can get instead of their value which is a shame
They are both very similar. I would say find 2 shops that carries one of the brands that treats you right and takes care of your needs and buy from them. That will give you a much better riding experience!
My Kona dealer informed me that I would be a 54cm even though I’m normally a 56cm. He said Kona usually fits bigger(I think) because it’s longer between seat post and handlebars. I fit VERY comfortably on this 54cm Kona.

The B-52 and the HUEY are both Aluminium.
I enjoy your reviews, very practical and informative.
Thanks.
Your video was super helpful!! Thank you!
Great video guys! Very informative!

Need a recommendation on the fastest Kona steel bike Rove LTD ?
Thanks for the review, I have heard that where the cabkes touch the frame 'they remove the paint work which is a shame.
Hi can we putt wheels of 700 on the Kona rove 650? Thanks for your video it’s a great job 👏
Great video! I have a height of 5'8 and an inseam of 30. Which frame size would you suggest?
Would you recommend a Rove for gravel/bike-packing or is the Libre better suited for that?
Yes. You could do that on this bike!

Can you upgrade this gravel bike for better component without changing the rearhub?if so what budget upgrade should be next if I want 11 speed?

54 would say. They run a little big
But ride the 56 and see how it feels. You can always ride 2 sizes of a bike.

The shifting will be better on the plain Rove. You will thank yourself in the long run. And steel is real. 🤘Sorry had to say it.
@@andysbikeshop7654 Ended up grabbing the Rove. It's working great so far!
Hi and tanks for tha. Informativo. Patrick
Hi, nice video. What do you think about Rove AL 700?
We don't have that one in my country! Just guessing I would say it is very comparable!
Do you UPS to Indiana?
I don't get why the steel ones are more expensive than the aluminum framed ones, I guess they're selling it for as much as they can get instead of their value which is a shame
Excellent bicycle, best regards from Chile
Thru axel or quick release?
Quick release!
Do you have any steel frame Rove's in a 54?
NO we sold out of all Rove's in a very short time.
Kona plus?
Which one is better? The Salsa or the Kona?

@@sum12merkwith I ordered a 54cm, probably be here tomorrow, my first gravel bike, can't wait.
What about the AL 700?? difference
Nevermind I figured it out. Great video!!
@@eddieize6371can you tell me the difference please between the 650 and 700. Is it just the tires and the rest is identical?
@@foxxmaster9340 You're spot on!! I ended up going for a 2022 cannonade topstone 4 which I love. cheers!
How much does it way?
*weigh?
The AL 650 is an aluminium frame....not steel!
Did I say steel? Oops!!!!
He said aluminum
Good lord the mixing is awful. The intro blasted my eardrums out. I couldn't continue after that.
