Here in 2022 and you just made life a little bit easier. I am easing into wire jewelry and this video was heaven sent! Thank you 🙏🏾
You are the only designer I have seen that files the end of the wire. It looks SO PROFESSIONAL! I do mine like that now too
Filing the ends is very professional and looks superb, Such a good demo, a real gem! Pun intended.
Excellent instructions! I've tried many ways to secure the cord to the wire, this without doubt is the most secure, and professional. Thank you!
I’m so glad these tutorials are here 😊
I loved how you do these, this would be so much easier for those of us getting older and may have issues with those tiny little clasp’s that can be so hard to hold on to that tiny little spring back to close your necklace. Thank you for this.
Glad you like them!
I keep coming back for a refresher. This is the best tutorial of its type. The filed edges make all the difference to the professionalism of the end product. Thanks
Wow! How easy and pretty. So much nicer and craftier than spring clasps. Thanks for sharing.
All these years I’ve been making copper wire jewelry and watched many videos on the easiest way to make clasp and haven’t received the results I was looking for until now … Thank you 🙏🏾
Woohoo! Glad we could help :)
Appreciate your video...Clear, concise & precise.. with great visual, light & audio. Thank you
We we appreciate you watching! :)
I very much enjoy this class as it cleared up so many questions I had concerning attaching wire to various medias. You are terrific at the pace you speak and the thoughtfulness with your explanations. I will be looking forward to another class with you. Thanks very much.
Thank you for this tutorial, well done, very easy to follow. This is an added knowledge for me in creating jewelries.
Thank u so much for yr tutorial it is so simple to follow. Im a jewelry maker & ive pinned this tutorial on my pinterest jewelry board to always have to go bk to & make these closures when needed. Thanks for sharing it has made my jewelry so much for professional looking!!
You are very welcome! I am glad it helped you out :)
Just bought some of St.Jean's DVD's, great vid thanks!
This is an excellent way to do these. Thanks so much!
Its an art what you do, i make my own fishing spinners and
making the top loop i found the hardest, not now.
Watching you putting a loop into a loop got me sorted
with just the one. Thank you.
ps it amazes me the way you bend wire into such beautiful
things, as mentioned it is an art.
Thanks!
I'm finely learning how to do the wire wrap!
Yay! This opens up sooooo much stuff for you design wise! Have fun!
Great tutorial - this will definitely help me make better clasps and ends for leather cords!
Beautiful. Very simple and helpful. Thank you
Thank you for your wonderful technique. I can't wait to make my own. I tried to use some nice looking clasps that I bought (on sale!) and when I tried to close the loop a little for security...it just snapped off! Grrrrr! It looked like pot-metal. cheap! Every one was the same. So I will be making my own thanks to you!
So wonderful and helpful…can’t wait to try it. Thank you!
Thank you. U made something I could not figure out.
Love the first clasp especially!
Very useful and beautiful technique. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely brilliant! Tutorial video very easy to understand and very detail as it should. I have the materials and now going to make it a project to learn for the week. Thank you!
Great tutorial, saved to my favourites!
gracias desde venezuela aprendi esta clase muy bien Dios la bendiga
You explain so well...especially the little things, like holding the wire at the very end of your finger before forming the small loop [3:02 + 4:09]. Little tips like that can make all the difference. I come from a teaching family and also got my teaching certification in graduate school, so I know good instruction when I see it! Consider yourself Bookmarked. :-)
Mind blowing presentation indeed!!
Five Stars teachet💞💫 THANKS SO MUCH!!!

excellent educator!
Excellent thank you!!
I'm lazy do you have a video on jump rings that actually match ends.
Just great and clear :) Thank you
Muy bueno, para mi que estoy iniciando es bastante útil, gracias!!!
Does this works on a flat leather cord
It could. It would likely work best if you kinda bent over the flat leather to have it better fit in the coil
Awesome, thank you for sharing 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful! Thank you so much! Question: If I wanted to do something similar to a piece of flat leather (say, one-half inch wide), would I still wrap the leather? It seems like wire wrapping wouldn't look as good on a flat piece.
+Lori Riley Hello! We agree it may not be the best for a flat piece of leather. Maybe look into adding a snap clasp, or other fold over end. Good luck!
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your teacher
Teaching ooppsss
Wow! Great! Thanks!
Great tutorial, thanks! Question, though. Would the liver of sulphur hurt the leather?
Tamara Sunspirit the leather really will never come into contact with the liver of sulphur (LOS). You will only use the LOS to oxidize the clasp before attaching it to the leather.
Beaducation So you also oxidize the wire before you wrap it around the leather to create the loops that the clasp connects to? Have you ever tried briefly dipping it in the LOS mixture WITH the leather already attached? Just wondering :-) Thanks!
Tamara Sunspirit yes, peroxiding would work best. I wouldn't put the leather and the wire in together. The LOS is a super bad stink and I would worry that it would hurt the leather or the stink would stick.
Beautiful....thanks
Where can I get a work serface like yours!? Thanks for the great tutorial!
Thanks for the feedback. here is a link to the surface she is working on beaducation.com/p/2177-jewelry-making-tools-poundo-mat-12-x12
I just saw your answer below to same question. What is peroxiding?
Hi Nancy. Do you mean pre oxidizing? That is when you oxidize the wire or metal first before working with it, rather than oxidizing after you have shaped it.
Great tutorial, thanks.x
Very Nice, thanks
Que material es el alambre
Este material es cobre. Puede usar cualquier alambre de metal. Unos son mas duros que otros.
Are you using half hard wire for this clasp?
You can use either soft or half hard.
Beaducation Thank you. This was a great tutorial!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you so much
Very nice
Thanks Erin!
Thank you very engaging
At 06:20, I couldn't possible do that with my non dominant hand.

Thank you lady, you really saved me, taking my designs from amatuer to beginner at least. Muchos Gracias!
Thank you very much for this extremely useful tutorial. I love the way you present the class. I can't praise you enough about how you don't talk about unnecessary stuff. I love how you explain how to hold the tools. You are an excellent teacher. I've never done any wire work, but I am collecting the tools 🔧. I'm waiting for some wire to be delivered & I'll be ordering a hammer. I already have an anvil. I can't wait to start working on this new hobby. I'm a quilter and I'm already thinking of ways to incorporate wire charms into my wall quilts. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you for the great video. How much weight can the coiled ends on the leather take before they slip off, please? I have some rather heavy stones that I would like to use this technique with. Would a little glue help?

Just plain copper wire. dead soft.
Grazie sei molto brava…
what if you don't have the hammer nor the block what else can you use
You need the steel block as a working surface for forging metal. And the hammer is made for this type of work. We sell these tools on our site.

Great. I followed the lesson and managed to make a clasp and attach to the leather cord from the first attempt. Thank you very much for clear instructions and professional demonstration. I will use it with my glass pendant which I also made during fused glass workshop some time ago.
I've always wondered about filing down the ends. Yes very professional looking. Not sure I like the looks of the cut leather showing at the hooks.
Wonderful tutorial! New subscriber!
