It’s funny because I bought the Jadon’s thinking that I was buying Bex 😂 The pair of Jadon’s are Burgundy and have been discontinued. For that reason I ended up keeping them.
They also offer a slip resistant sole. It looks exactly like the classic, only the very bottom of the sole thar contacts the ground has a special design for improved grip on wet and oily surfaces. I'm a machinist, and our machines use cutting oil. That oil on top of the sealed flooring is very slick. I'm getting too old to be taking falls like that! I can't wait to get a pair of these on some 1461s.
I get 1460 classics usually. Bought a Jadon for fun. They are a little platformy, but I find they don't look too crazy. Plus the cushioning helps if you have plantar fasciitis. The zipper is unnecessary. Overall I say they are a good bonus shoe if you already have 1460 if you are interested in something different.
There’s also the Ben soles which they also call the “commando.” They only use them on the 101’s from what I can tell but they’re the lug types that they used to put on 1460’s and other shoes back in the 90s. I wish they’d put them on more shoes because I feel like they’d be more durable alternative to the classic soles.
I've got a pair of Jadons, Comb Tech (OG) and a pair of solovairs (made near identical to made in England docs). Out of the three, the combs tech are the most comfortable, mainly because there's no break-in required and it's a good combo between sneaker tech and boots. However, my personal fave would be the jadons, they are more or less broken in enough for me to want to wear them as much as I can. And for those that feel it in the knees when walking, the jadons is the sweet spot. Solovair, they are great, but the comfort support doesn't compare to the jadons.
okay.. i am surprised that Jadon's are your favorite. i am still getting use to walking in Jadons. I plan on try some Solovair next year to see how they are.
This is very useful and well put video. Actually, the Bex must be my favorite too, because if I were to look for a normal pair of men’s Oxford shoes, I would go for Cole Haan, Rockport or something lighter and more comfortable than Dr. Martens. If I grab Dr. Martens, I want it to be recognizable
That is very true.. the bex are a good pair. I noticed bex sizing is different from the others. For me it’s like the bex run very big so I have to size down from my normal doc size
I bought 1460 Bex double stitch. They are really nice and comfy.. I was concerned of "women" boots, but comparable to Jadon's and 2 inch sole, they seem more masculine.
Nice pick with the 1460 Bex double stitch! They're such a solid choice, and it's awesome to hear they're comfy too. Totally get the initial worry about the 'women' label, but it's all about how they feel and look on you, right?

I have the bex sole in 1460 black and the new 1460 gaucho. Great soles and like them a lot. 👍 These different soles would make a good voting pole i reckon. 🙂👍
The type of leather and sole makes DM neoteric lighter than platforms. I just don't like the leather quality. First nappa leather pair of mine. No break-in and I feel like flying wearing my audrick chelsea lol

I like the zipper.. it makes it so much easier to get into the Jadons

Yeah.. I thought they stoped using the ben soles.. I need to try them out to see if there is a difference the two soles.
the maxi feels funny to walk at first, but when i got used to it they are super comfy, but bex and original works the best for me

Jadons are $400 where I live 😭 but also I never buy new, I go to designer wardrobe for pre loved docs. Half the break in is already done for me 🥰

Those brands have definitely not got that uniqueness of DR. Martens
Wintergrip soles deserve mention, in my experience those as really durable soles.
