  • This 78-minute film weaves together excerpts from testimonies of Holocaust survivors recorded in 1993. These Jewish men and women are from countries of both eastern and western Europe and secular and religious backgrounds. They share how they struggled to live, cope, and maintain their humanity under extreme conditions of deprivation, terror, and mass murder.
Some survived in hiding, others in Nazi camps. Some evaded deportations to death camps to join the anti-Nazi resistance or engaged in acts of sabotage as forced laborers. Some benefited from that all too rare assistance offered by non-Jews to help hunted Jews. Three of them lived to tell an extraordinary escape story.
Regardless of their situation, everyone required not only physical strength but also, as some would say, luck, in order to survive. They also exhibited remarkable resilience and relied on inner courage, even after many of their family members had been killed.

Same! I tell myself.. I’d always fight, whether my fight was sometimes in compliance and others physically I’d always fight, I tell myself I’d be part of the underground to hide people if I wasn’t part of the persecuted. I’m terribly sad for all of these people they saw so much and then there are people who really say “it never happened” those people are scary people because those people are ones who would be a part of the evils that were committed. I’m sad that all of the survivors are gone now. I pray others continue to share these stories and make sure we are all aware it could happen again and we need to choose what side we’re going to be on.. hopefully part of the resilience

Thank you so much to the museum for putting this up. We're at a point now when survivors are almost gone. I've had an interest in WW II and all that included, since I was a kid, and read Anne Frank's diary. I wish though I had taken a stronger interest in the Holocaust a long time ago though, when more survivors were still alive and going around speaking. They are all precious jewels, the last living source of first hand accounts of one of the most momentous and terrible times in history. Soon we will never be able to give them a hug, or hold their hand, ask them what they feel about the world today, or to let them know that what they went through is not forgotten.

The home front collaborated in terms of killing Jews. This also occurred in other countries ie france, italy Hungary. In Poland if they knew in the underground you were Jewish they either turned you in or they gave you jobs that would kill you. They also killed you just for being Jewish .there was literally no where to go. My grandmother had a German soldier enter the house and taste some soup telling her it’s good. Generations of Christian teachings and hate by Paul and Matthew have brought atrocities like these upon the Jewish people time and time again throughout the generations. Christianity is a false religion, they worship a man, please learn and listen to Rabbi "Tovia Singer", he has thousands of clips on UA-cam. Learn the truth because we can't both be right.

I keep watching these videos hoping that I can understand how people could do something like this to other people, especially to children, but after years of watching I haven't found out yet. I have even studied German history to see if it was something in their development that might explain it. But I haven't found it.

Me too. One day I became fascinated as to why this happened. But no. It’s not a German thing. Sadly it’s human nature. We separate ourselves by skin color , religion eye color etc. These things have been going on for thousands of years. The only thing that makes the Holocaust “unique” is the technology that was put to use and how recent it is.
Look into other genocides and you’ll see what I mean. Happens everywhere in multiple eras.
When I was a kid and heard of the Holocaust I didn’t understand it.
I couldn’t understand why a “White” man would want to kill another white man (I’m black). I could wrap my head around why a white person could hate a black person because we are visibly different. Whenever I see racism I try to remember how ridiculous it seemed as a kid finding out that people target other people solely for where they come from.

We always have heard about brave people who protected Dutch Jews. But The Netherlands lost a much greater percentage than any other country. And not only that--after the war the Dutch government made it extremely difficult for survivors to reclaim their children. Dont believe it? Look it up. The people who had grown to love the children they saved did not want to release the children to the returning survivors. The government backed them.

So many well spoken words of so many heartfelt testimonies and of their pain.. heartfelt bitter-sweet and true stories from these persecuted people who suffered much, endured much, and survived to testify of their suffering and plight, but more, testifying for all those (thousands) who perished and couldn't. I cried all the way through this video.. the happier endings, and the tragic and sad endings. As the last survivor lady (in this video) stated, and many others had also stated throughout their testimonies.. 'They' are the last people, the survivors of the Holocaust era, they were there in it, suffering it.. and the few who survived it. Children, of this bygone generation.. listen, learn, and heed what this generation is telling you. One day they will all be gone, and it will be up to you the younger generations to keep this tragedy from happening . again History is a bour, it is fickle, and sadly it can repeat itself.. It has repeated itself. Take notice, and be watchful.. for the troublemakers and the instigators, the antisemites'. We have them still.

The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality.
In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises:
"He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war."
My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness.
Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind.
The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.

I am watching this and can not believe the cruelty of people. Why, because of hate. Even now we still have hate and there are some who would gladly do this again. We never forget what happen. We not allow hate to take over a nation. All of us must fight hate. What else I can say, somehow the words that I type are not even close to what I feel and want to say.

These former homes of victims could be accomadation for visitors.

Watching this in 2/23 I see how the American people are under attack by an illegitimate regime in the WH it makes me more determined than EVER to stand up and fight for the American people without whom the world would not have a safe haven.

There are allot of countries where the citizens have failed and are now ruled by a dictatorial type govt. They cannot own guns, freedom of speech no longer exists and yet there are those who are trying to enslave the American people but the one thing that keeps tyranny at bay is the firearm. without it we would have lost our freedom long ago. WW2 soldiers and guts used it to end aggression in Europe and many other wars. When I hear the words " where I live we`re not allowed to own guns" is extremely upsetting and I`m sure every true American feels the same. You put an AR or AK in your possession and you will feel how it seems to back up your unwillingness to be ruled.
