Is it possible that both J. Cole and Royce have got better over time? They seem even greater to me with every passing year. Lyrically at the very least.
Yeah they are definitely one of the few rappers in this game, that were great when they had their first few records and people loved them but with the time they both got way better with the bars, concepts, rhyme schemes, depth of the lyrics. I personally think J Cole 4 Your Eyez Only is his best and most ambitious album. Royces PRhyme (1&2) and Layers were his best to me either and his old shit is fire too

You tried to kick your tightest game to a chick you like. But if you strike out, there's always the ride back. By that time you seen and talked to other chicks. I wish you success! If music is helping, I have seen many ppl say they found Eminems story inspiring and his Recovery album deals a lot with overcoming addiction (so does his album Relapes). He has almost 10 yrs of sobriety now.

Love the reminiscent songs! J. Cole is the man and a master at taking you back. Spot on that he's relatable. It's funny watching this because you guys describe the hood and how things were and it sparks memories of my own childhood. We all have more similarities than we know and music is a conduit for that no doubt. I didn't grow up in a suburb but it wasn't the projects either, somewhere in between I guess. But we dealt with all the same stuff - no money, drugs, weapons, violence, etc. I think every generation needs a few of these songs. Great find!

Finding a new more interesting way to say something simple. I walked over there, I pranced over yonder. Shitty example yes, but I hope you get my point. That’s true word play. Ayoooo the video is back lmfaooooo. Last time didn't get a chance to write something tho but now I do. Royce and Cole slayed that recored really well and seeing it done by class rappers of different breed and of different eras really shined for me. They both vividly created pictures and images through their words one simple the other complex but the complemented each other on the same beat and I really liked that a lot and this song is going in my playlist lol. Boblo island was a amusement park on a island between Canada and Detroit , you had to ride a boat to the park. The boat ride was a party just like he said. The park is closed now , damn I miss them days😭

The Boblo Boat took Detroiters to Boblo Island. It was a 20 minute ferry ride from Detroit. It closed in the early 90s and used to go there in the summer.

When you went to Boblo riding the Boblo Boat was half of the amusement park experience. The boat was the one ride everyone had to ride! Hustling to Stevie Wonder on the ride back! I miss it!
We use skate wid jcole every friday night when he work at utal shopping center fayetteville nc 05-07 he use freestyle over mic to different beats, i was like 11-13 of age never forget , am 28 now and he always come back town and never forgets nobody and never forgets were he came from, and helps everybody in the ville!! Boblo Island was a theme park island on the Detroit river. You had to take a big ass ferry boat to get to it. Those of us who grew up in Detroit remember it well. Also the voice at the beginning of the video is mort crim, a famous news anchor here in Detroit that will Ferrell sites as inspiration for anchorman lol
