The only reason I commented that Seasons readded in items that were free as well as items people already paid for in 2015 with Spooky Day is that it was sloppy and should have been "more of a scandal." In 2018, Seasons was $40 USD. Holiday pack was free. Spooky Stuff was $10 USD. That made it sloppy on their part because they could have/should have added swatches to the existing items instead of readding the items in a more expensive way. We really hoped for that but at least we did get trick or treaters coming to the home in Seasons, was a little disappointing but better than nothing. Which we say about most of TS4
Among all the other problems, this pack also should've had some cross pack compatibility with cottage living, cos it's weird you can grow pumpkins in cottage living but you can't use those same pumpkins to carve with
I love the Spooky Stuff Pack, and this is why. The costumes may not be "Spooky" because they are for adult costume parties at Halloween, not for going out and scaring people. Plus, they are great for making a time period ghost, like Nearly Headless Nick and Moaning Myrtle for my Harry Potter save. I added the candy bowl with the hand popping out to my Addams Family household to be Thing. I love the ability to carve pumpkins. The cloth covered furniture is great for filling out an attic along with a few holiday decorations that are being stored until that holiday rolls around. Spooky Stuff Pack was dropped on Sept. 29, 2015, almost three years before Seasons on June 22, 2018. If memory serves, they explained the doubling of some items was due to the fact that not everyone bought SSP and it was thought that those items would be welcomed, even twice for some. I think that if you have a closet on your lot, you can change anyone's costume (it's been a while since I have played creating a party in SSP).
Yes! Exactly! And I do use the Spooky Stuff pack when it comes to making a more "haunted" or rundown old house. My nieces and I use the CAS items alot actually.
The treat bowl! Ok, so when you (as a sim) just get a treat, they are not "expecting" to be scared by the hand so they get scared, but when you go for a "trick" and are tricked then they are happy because they got what they wanted, to be tricked. It seems weird until you look at it from the expectation pov.
@@KaiLucasZachary No you cannot carve the cottage living pumpkins, only those with spooky stuff pack which would have been a nice cross compatibility with spooky stuff if they added that with cottage living pumpkins to be carve. That would been a great.
I love spooky stuff build/buy especially the wood floors and walls and decor. I didn't realize most of it came with seasons though lol I'm also biased because I think I got it for $5 and that seemed fair for what I got. Edit- your point at the end was fair
I don't think most of the assets came with seasons, I'm pretty sure it was just the two items he showed. The pack is completely overshadowed by seasons though, and it really should've been included with it instead of having its own price tag
I wouldn't mind if they made spooky stuff free/merged into seasons(really seasons is where it belongs but it might be easier to go bg) and gifted buyers a kit voucher, like when sims 4 became free. I personally hate how SP and Seasons don't meld well. Throw a spooky party on your seasons spooky holiday and only bg costumes appear in the menu to quick change. Throw it on any day that's not a holiday, you get the menu for the spooky pack costumes.
I feel the same about luxury party, it's so bare compared to later packs, and both it's premium items are in more packs now. Make it bg and gift those who bought a kit voucher
Another thing with caterers, more of a bg thing but an issue I see with all parties when using them, I wish they let us select the menu for em to cook. The menu I want for my kids birthday is different from what I want for a dinner party or charity event 🤔
I think that’s the problem, they don’t go all out in the theme of the pack. Comes across as a muddle of ideas. A general dress up party pack would be great 🎉
can the sims actually wear pumpkins on their heads like it's being advertised in the trailer? I feel like that these scenes are the coolest part of the whole trailer 😅
I think there's a CAS item that looks like a pumpkin, that's probably what was shown in the trailer. They can't wear pumpkins carved at the carving table or whatever you call it though, only ghosts can. Hope that's cleared things up for you.
Love this review! My gripe with this stuff pack is really not up to par and it is pretty limiting. It is pretty cute for Spooky season, but beyond the holidays the assets are not versatile enough for anything else.
I think it could've been cool if they went more of a haunted house vibe. With the jumping out scary decorations, or mabey a pillar or tarp sims could hide behind to scare other sims
When this pack first released i was obsessed with it and kept having spooky parties for halloween... then they released seasons and it felt like i wasted $15 🙃
I like the carpets in this pack for build- buy mode in spooky. The rest of the design is too cartoony looking for my taste I would wish for more spooky but more realistic spooky. Since they added nails to the base game I wouldn't mind some spooky themed nails.
Spooky Stuff (2015) came out YEARS before Seasons (2018). Back then, I suppose it was fine to drop as is, but Seasons made it irrelevant. Only reason to buy it after Seasons dropped is for extra costumes.
Funnily enough, since Seasons has some of the same stuff as Spooky stuff pack, it's not even needed to but the stuff pack, it only gives some more swatches to those items in Seasons. With Sims 4 studio, more swatches can be added, so the spooky pack is even worse because of this. If someone just wants a new swatch of those specific items, it can be easily edited.

I don't think the party performance issues are actually related directly to this pack. I think that since the spooky party is still a party, it's unfortunately susceptible to party base game glitches too even if the pack itself should be working fine. I haven't used the spooky party feature myself, though generally the performance is pretty much fine as far as the pack goes. Alas, base game parties are glitched for me so this pack would theoretically be too in that regard.

Ok, I understand this is your review NOW, but at the time it came out, Spooky Stuff worked correctly. It goes back to how they don't make packs work together and so now it doesn't with all the other systems in play. The thing to remember is that Maxis adopted the words "Spooky Day" instead of Halloween. So they weren't actually trying to be SPOOKY in the literal sense of the word. It was like you said more for a party. Also you have to keep in mind that apparently they are trying to make the game more kid friendly so haven't REALLY done anything scarey or spooky in TS4, it was never meant to be that. Personally, when I build a rundown or "haunted" house, this pack is a go to along with the Vampire pack. The drapped rundown furniture, the wood floors, the hand wallscones in the white or black, it all works for me. Being as my nieces are really into the occult sims and love ghosts and such, I make a lot of houses like that. So the Spooky Stuff pack was worth it to me because I really do use it. Also the CAS has costumes that are not in any other pack, though some of them are reused, yes, some are also nowhere else to be found. And my girls USE them, like a whole lot. So again, worth it to me. Especially when at that time we did NOT have Seasons so it filled a need for us. If we were starting now, would we get the Spooky Stuff? We likely would get Seasons first, but yeah, we would because its part of the niche play that we do. For example, I did a redo of the Webbington Cobb house put out by EA/Maxis in the gallery, making the lot actually playable. Its a hot item for people like us. And I used a LOT of the Spooky Day stuff in it. Recently, I made a "vampire" house for one of my nieces, and again used a lot of the Spooky Stuff pack in it. Because she has a young mentality and needs it to be a little fun not just spooky. Oh, back to CAS (I know I'm rambling a litte, I just got up) as spellcasters, again my girls use the Spooky Stuff pack for their "witches" almost every time. So, yes, we would still buy it, just, you know, on sale... like all the others. But as soon as it came on sale? Yeah, we would totally buy it. Keep in mind, we don't usually play parties anyway so we didn't even realize the parties didn't work. It's not that I don't agree with most of your video, but it works for us in how we play. Or played, I personally haven't actually played TS4 this year, I've been playing Sims 3 and Sims Medieval mostly, with some Sims 2 thrown in. When I am asked nicely by one of my nieces I will go in and build something they have requested but I don't count that as playing because its not for my own entertainment or enjoyment really, its pure love for one of my girls, and once done I go back to what I want to do for myself. And I say "they", but lately it just been the one, as the others are playing the same games I do.
