Fun fact. The ending scene where they claim their dreams with the flashbacks of them as kids originally did not have the flashbacks in the scene. An editor put it in and showed it to the showrunner who loved it and kept it.
Fun fact! All the actors actually did their 90% of their own stunts with Taz Skylar (Sanji) never being switched out once in his fights and Mackenyu (Zoro) only being switched when he was knocked back by Mihawk. Taz actually got his black belt during filming/training for the show!
Fun fact: When you look at the scene where Kaya was reading the newspaper, at the left page of luffy's bounty poster, there was an article pertaining to the Revolutionary Army. Can't wait to see Dragon and also Ivankov, and a certain blond fellow
It’s so funny to me how many anime reactors misremember what happens in the anime and are mad or weirded about by changes that aren’t changes 😅. And no I’m not talking about the manga at all.
I really liked Koby in this, his actor pretty much captured his on self doubt and fidgety personality. I hope we get to see him more of him next season instead of waiting for him in Water 7/Ennis Lobby. Some of the aspects of this live action actually beat the original anime, which I know a lot of people will deny, but let's be real. The East Blue saga is easily the weakest part of One Piece as a whole, so it's not an impossible thing to do for the Live Action to beat it.
I loved the inclusion of Garp. It makes more sense to me tbh. There's a few things that go unmentioned in the East Blue arc that I feel should have come up sooner, and he was one of them.
@@seansilence2697 Yeah, in general they did a good job at introducing characters early. Not just that, but I love that they made Baroque Works presence known this early too You know that Oda does plan stuff pretty early head on, but smaller plot lines and characters are made up pretty much right before certain arcs. Like Garp being Luffy's grandpa, as well as Ace and Sabo existing.
There does exist white ink in the real world to help break up old black ink. Also, lasers do exist in the One Piece world. I wouldn’t overthink Nami’s tattoo restructure
My take on the show is a solid 7.5/10. Overall one of the better adaptations (especially for Netflix). I loved the straw hats and Luffy really grew on me, despite him being portrayed as a bit more smart and heroic than I think he is in the source material. But it works for live action. My biggest complaint is I think Sanji should have witnessed the Zoro vs. Mihawk fight as I think that was a vital character moment that got missed. I also agree about the Coby/Garp storyline. I wanted to skip through those parts and get back to the crew. I understand the choice to incorporate it, but honestly hope they aren't planning on sticking with them through the next season. I'm stoked to see how they handle Chopper, Robin, Ace, and the whole Alabasta arc in live action!
Well the needs of the straw hat is that it is passed down so he needs that bounty as a first step to becoming superior to Shanks in order to hand it back down when Shanks is his minor :)
I was disappointed they removed the Ussop pirates. But i agree with Hatchi, though i can understand that they can easily introduce him into Saboady if they ever get there
The Marine parts got a bit repetitive and after a while felt like a "we just need a secondary storyline to cut to" thing after a while. Garp's portrayal has grown on me a bit, and Helmeppo is low-key one of the best characters in this adaptation, but I agree that Koby habing anxiety every second he's on screen got old pretty fast. It's not bad, for an episode or two it worked very well, but I think his acting the same in every scene definitely adds to the "repetitive-ness" of it. My hot take is that the same goes for Buggy, actually. He was perfect in "his" episode but then it felt like they felt the need to bring him back because he's a fan-favorite (he's one of my favs in the manga) and idk... his whole schtick got overused after a while. I think it would've been better to bring him back next season for a "oh yes, I missed this guy" kinda feeling instead of making him like a recurring side character and losing the novelty of it. But that's just me, I guess.
Interesting how most fair ppl thought the kuro eps were the least favorable but the haters would point to those eps as the best and that it went downhill from there 😅... i thoughts eps 5-8 was the highlight of the show
I think the changes in characters were what made me dislike the show. I didn't hate it, I would give it 6/10, but I feel the tweaking in some moments makes me go like "Uh what?". like when Nami made a snippy comment about rich people and stole from Kaya while Nami in the manga wants to be rich and would never steal from normal people, like why? why change something in the character just to cause conflict? and then she talked to Kaya and decided not to put what she stole back... like if the person is not someone you know or rich, you will steal from them even if they are good people? it just makes the watch unenjoyable for me. Zoro being in a cool mood all the time even in unserious situations made him appear one dimensional for a while. I liked Luffy, Buggy and Shanks despite the changes to them. I didn't watch after Syrup Village bc of how Usopp's character was so weak bc they were focusing on the other stawhats in the LA version but I might watch it later if the later eps is as good as you say. Although I already watched the Zoro Mihawk fight and some stuff about Cocoyashi village.
@@Mars_261remember, anime fans and series fans have different taste, also remember that the main purpose of this live action is to appeal to a wider audience that doesn't watch or read anime/manga, also remember that due to budget constraint they do need to change things up to fit into 8 episodes they also need to consider budgeting and editing cost
@@alibinqauizhiersarapuddin7860 I agree. I tried to get into both the anime and manga over the years, but I personally couldn't. The characters annoyed me and I just couldn't vibe with it. However I adore this series. I love the changes they made and I actually love all these characters. They altered the bits that stopped me enjoying the anime and manga and made a series I genuinely love.
I have a mixed feeling on Coby. I love the actor, his acting skill is way better than half of the Straw Hats (some of them need to improve). I just didn't like their decision to put so much Coby and Garp on this. I'm open minded about the change, but do we really need to see them on EVERY episodes? Usopp's backstory only got one minute screen time and he only got one short fight for the whole season. They cut so much of Usopp and giving it all to Garp and Coby. At this point, even Helmeppo might have more screen time than Usopp.
I loved their appearances and their interaction though.I prefer this over manga and anime they put some context on Garps journey and Coby development.Make us think Garp trained Coby not only physically but also mentally strong.Make sense for Garp to appeared and do anything to prevent Luffy and test Luffys resolved unlike in manga and anime Garp cares for Luffy but then somehow suddenly it stop and they didn't explain why Garp didn't care to Luffys troubles anymore and why he's now ok with with Luffys decision and why he let Luffy be free to do whatever he wants without worrying about consequences why is that?.But here in live action they answered why.Garp satisfied with Luffys resolved he wants to test Luffys words and actions in the end Luffy can do whatever he want without intervention from Garp.I also liked Cobys development hes gaining something from Garp and Helmeppo too.Plenty of scenes from Ussop though Its just your expectations is different from the outcome.
@@Rojel-ls3yn I do love it tho. I just think they didn't need to do it every episode. They can absent one episode and give the screen time to Usopp. All the straw hats are well developed, even Garp, Coby and Helmeppo. Usopp is the only main cast that bite the dust. Which leave me excited for Little Garden. That arc better be for Usopp's development. At least give him something
@@levinkeluargapolca I love it too, but like, those two scenes where Garp and Coby are playing that board game, which probably most people won't know what that is about, felt heavily unnecessary
Interestingly enough, this was the only change Oda did not like but the producers forced him to concede to. Says a lot about his writing ability and intuition.
@@gian_bernardo The board game on episode 3? Yeah, that was the episode where Usopp's backstory happen for only one minute. I agree, instead of that they can give the screen time to Usopp's backstory. How he say he didn't mad at his dad, instead he felt proud because he's a son of pirate. All of that heartfelt moment got cut out for the boardgame scene.
I agree, I don't understand the Koby love, but also, Nami's actress feels like Jennifer Lawrence to me, which is bad because the acting style is just to be emotionless and serious and it's pretty boring. Nami was smiling and had in your face energy. This one feels like she walked off the set of twilight, zoro too

Idk how they removed the tattoo but they have shell phones so nothings impossible such a good show and reaction ❤
I love it so much that they showed the Shanks and Mihawk scene also in live action XD
"Garp would never do that" - but he did it in W7, and its even worse there since its just because Luffy was his grandson
