This help me a lot with trying to teach speech with my son. He been saying one word and sometimes 2 but I seems like he gets it then lose it. He one that’s independent so if it feels like he can say what he want he going to do it. He only 5 just started kindergarten and was in early childhood education since 3. Lol just a little background. Can’t wait for your book
I am a behavior tech who works with a 9 y/o autistic child, and right now he is intermittently repeating back some long vowel sounds such as eeee, ....iiiii, and 0000hhhh, and he is also intermittently repeating a couple of words such as wow, and ma, and his parents are pleased with this and have said that this is the first time that they have heard him repeating back what someone else has said. I am of course talking to and getting direction from my BCBA, and she is also open to new ideas, and I am wondering if you have any ideas or videos on where to go next? It feels as though what sounds and words he is repeating should have some meaning to them and not just be echoic.
Hi this is my second comment as I just posted one about vocalization, but I am also working with this child on writing skills and he is able to trace his first name in a connect the dots type of manner, and he is also able to write the first three letters of his name on a whiteboard. However, lately he has been getting frustrated and is refusing to go beyond those first three letters, and the frustration has started to lean into interfering behavior. I would appreciate any direction I could get for some alternatives for writing.
