RAISING THE FLAGS, A NEW TRADITION
This morning, August 19th, Kingfisher High School students gathered together in front of their institution for the 1st annual flag-raising ceremony. A tradition they hope to create by having a ceremony once every month. The idea first came to Dr. A.J. Johnson as a way to kick off the new school year but swiftly became about more. Pride in one's school, state, and country. More than anything it's about comradery and school spirit. Dr. Johnson had several Boys State delegates participate in the hoisting of the flag as well as photography students taking pictures of the momentous occasion. Student Body President Natalie Garrett and High School Principal John Harris shared a few encouraging words. The Pride of Kingfisher, the KHS band, played the National Anthem as the flag was raised with hands over hearts.
