  • This short video features BC Rail's rail diesel cars (RDCs) in Prince George and Squamish, British Columbia. These self-propelled passenger cars were used to provide economical branch line passenger service.
This video was originally on the OBE video "SURVIVORS: RDCs in Canada 1992-2001".
This video was uploaded by Steve Boyko after David's death, on the request of David's widow Pat. She wants to share David's work with everyone. Apologies for any errors or omissions in the captions.
This video was recorded using a camcorder on VHS videotape and then digitized, so the quality is not as good as David's later work.

My son loves RDC'S he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and they should be preserved, restored, and put back into service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build copies of RDC's and the departments of transportation should put them to work on lines that are not used anymore carrying both passengers and mail.

I rode those often in the 60's between North Vancouver and Devine as well as between D'Arcy and Lillooet...wish that they were still in service...I'd be taking trips just for the fun and entertainment...👍

They should bring these back (1 train can eliminate 10 cars)

i remember taking this passenger car from north Vancouver to Prince George years ago. It was one of the best train ride I have taken. Do you know if there is any footage of the Tumbler Ridge section. I hear the tunnels through that area are amazing to go through.
