Another fantastic video TJ. Doesn’t matter what the thumbnail looks like when the quality is this top notch. Can’t imagine how much work goes into putting something like this together with all the cameras and what not. It’s very much appreciated! Side note, it was great meeting you at the ice show a few weeks back. Enjoyed our chat and thanks for all the info on the boots.
Not yet. I have a place on the west side of Mille Lacs. Open water out front last week. I’m hoping for some safe walkable ice next week. I guess that will be up to Mother Nature. 😅
Still a top notch video! Filming ice fishing is the hardest thing, cameras freeze, batteries die, cords malfunction, not to mention wind, weather. Watch 90% of the other guys, they are running just a chesty lol. You do an INCREDIBLE job, don't sell your videos short, tons of info if I produced content like you I'd never scrap a video!
Means a lot coming from a guy who knows how much work it takes to put together videos! Appreciate the feedback man! Looks like you’re still grinding in the boat eh!?
Love it! And now I feel like a fool for telling you yesterday I can't get a walleye to come near an underwater camera unless it's hidden near weeds 😅. Keep crushing it!
Love the locational information and how you pick out higher percentage locations to increase your odds of contacting fish during the bite windows of morning and evening
Nice video! Really like the fish graphics overlaid on the map!!! Actually, perfect videos aren't what I enjoy. Rarely do things go as planned for many reasons. I much rather see an honest experience video with the natural sounds of the trip rather than rock music in the background, which I never hear when I'm outdoors. Thanks for sharing.
Honestly this is a good video it’s the reality of walleye fishing you aren’t always gonna whack 20+ inchers this is what you’ll find in 90% of lakes so I think it’s good to show people this and a lot of people want to go out and catch these sized walleyes to eat so it’s good you break down location aswell.
Appreciate the insight and taking the time to comment! This is definitely the reality for most of our smaller, clear lakes in the area! Always nice to mix in a big one like this as well! 👌
Same here my Home lake is a shallow lake it’s 5 miles long by a mile wide and it’s a walleye factory but they can be tough to catch because there is only a few 20 foot holes and you’d think they would be around them but honestly they will just be on mud in 4 foot sometimes. It can be daunting because the walleyes here are so different from other lakes.
Appreciate the comment, James! Typically on dead stick minnows are alive. Sometimes they sit pretty still until a fish starts coming and they squirm pretty good. So I will always try to have a love minnow if possible!
Always quality and good info. 1 1/2" slushy wet stuff SE of you. Getting around walking and finding spots close to access... without the swarm of people... is difficult. Keep posting we will watch.
"60% of the time it works every time."~Brian Fantana That is my experience with GoPro more specifically, but on a rare occasion, other devices will fail me. When you have a backup of a backup of a backup, the video works every time. ;) I enjoyed it even if it didn't go to plan, man. BTW, I rarely have a plan other than documenting my experience and making it entertaining. If I can get in some unplanned educational value out of the day, I'll try to include it. I hear you on the complexity of gear and editing. That can actually make the video not happen at all if it is overcomplicated. I'm planning on creating a video detailing how to simplify filming while getting the creative aspects of documenting fishing adventures. To me, the planned filming and editing can be so much more demanding and restricting. Our own expectations can be our worst enemy. Keep 'em coming even if you don't think it's worthy to edit. I have at least 20 videos waiting to be edited because of their lack of worth to me. So I'm not one to talk! Ha, ha! Maybe I'm just talking to myself, too! Tight lines, TJ!
Haha I feel you for sure! It makes it all the better when things do work out and a video comes together like it should! You finding some good ice over in your neck of the woods?
@@tjsguideservice There is 6+ inches in smaller lakes and bays of Lake Audubon. Nothing for Sakakawea yet. I've been busy with a 3-weekend festival since Thanksgiving and this weekend building a smitty sled to try haul all that gear us UA-camrs use to make videos. My snowmobile has been out of commision and without a Ski-doo dealer to reprogram my switch in ND, I may have to haul it to MN to fix it. I may be in your neck of the wood next weekend, though. Awsome seeing 👀 s from 5 to 25 inches coming from the same spot though man , thanks for puttin in all the extra work to keep the teachin goin out there ! An thanks for not going to red lake like 95% of youtube right now !
Justin! It’s fun to see the potential of the future as well! Almost made a comment about how you can actually catch walleyes on lakes other than red, but figured it might ruffle some feathers! 😂 These lakes are definitely not as easy as Red, but still walleyes to be had!

Appreciate the comment a bunch! Everyone definitely has their own style and preference, but I love to try and teach. Still a lot to learn in the filming and editing but really working on dialing all of that as well! Good luck this year! 👊
I'll watch just about any gdthing you produce -- just for clarification -- you are right on the 20'+ flat right? And then you have tip ups on the breaks? Second question: Is early ice "early in the year"? Or is early ice "shortly after $hit freezes up?
I use an open bail. Started with a bait feeder, but I felt like even at the lightest setting they were still able to feel some of the tension so I went back to an open bail!
If you don't like your flag sticking out, would it be possible to cut it shorter at the other end and still work OK? Seems like that would be an easy fix.
