The sewing world is SO lucky to have someone as patient and talented as you. I don’t think younger sewers realize what a valuable gift we have in these UA-cam videos. I’ve become so skilled from watching these bag making tutorials. Absolutely invaluable tool!!! So grateful that I have these videos. 👍😀
I just finished another one of this handbag (LOVE it!) and I also struggled with attaching the strap connectors. They are much easier to install if you only sew the top half of the side seams and not sew the bottom yet until you get the strap connectors sewn in. After you sew the connectors in, then you can sew the bottom half of the side seams and also the bottom. This eliminates wrestling with all the bulk! LOVE your videos!
I really like the way the zipper is designed. I’ve been looking for years to find this technique and had not found it. Thanks for another great tutorial video.
I so wish this had acrylic templates to make this. I love it so much. I'm just not that great at cutting the pieces so precisely. Great tutorial Kassiah.
Hi! Thank You for your great detailed vidéo. May I suggest a little trick for your issue with pocket trim. What I do is simply cut the strip wider for example if they mention 1 inch I cut mine at 1inch and a half then you draw the line as you would from the top. When you fold the trim the back will be longer, you sew your strip then you trim the back of your strip near the stitching line. Doing it like this you will be sure that you didn't miss the back. It worth a try and see if you like it. Once again thank you for your great tutorials!
I love this bag. It doesn't look terribly complicated but I can see the struggle. The details are amazing. I'm new to bag making but I would totally give this a try.
i admire you. I have done a lot of bags, but am taking a pass on this one. separating the zip is not on my list of things i like to do. It looks very difficult to manouver under the machine. Great video as always though
Siah, after watching your video, I purchased the pattern and yesterday I finished the bag and it took me four days. I struggled with the box corners at the zippers. Overall, I am pleased with the result.
With the trim - I don't make a line at the halfway mark, rather I make one side slightly longer - maybe a 1/16". That goes in the back and the shorter side goes in the front. When you stitch on the front both sides are always caught - even when you edgestitch. Great tutorial! I had to buy this pattern. And you made seeing your stitching on the bottom a bad thing - your stitching is so impeccable you should show it off!
Another great tutorial. I especially liked how your camera angle was spot on when you were showing how to install the strap anchors and box the top of the bag. This definitely will be a bag I will add to my list of makes I want to do.
From sewing garments in my earlier days, I have learned that cutting the lining and exterior fabrics using small clips along the seam allowances will help to flatten the curve. I have been doing that in my bag-making and it really helps. Just don't clip the zipper tape.
Another awesome tutorial. I know when I'm watching your tutorials that I will not be disappointed. I also have an industrial, an off-brand juki like you, and I am totally jealous of your metal plate with the seam allowances. I would love to have that! Much love -Gen
Thank you for another great tutorial. I watch all of your, but think I will pass on this bag. It looks like quite a struggle and I do these for the love of it, but do not think I will love doing this one.
I love this bag. Thank you. Oh, and BTW I’ve been using waterproof canvas. It’s great. And what a time saver not to have to add interfacing. Looks more professional too.
Well Kassiah, I am starting this bag today. My only worry right now is the main zipper. I’m just getting the hang of adding zipper pulls and I’m stressed about adding them after sewing zipper tape to the bag. Wish me luck...I’m holding my breath on that one. 😳
Beautiful Siah! I totally adore your exterior fabric. Its very classy! It also gave you scope to choose silver.gold..or antique bronze hardware and would look so different with each...Lindy x
Great video! Love the bag. I wonder if adding the strap connectors would be easier if you only sew one side seam, add that connector, then sew the other and struggle with only one connector??
Hi, I use the same tool to make the holes for my rivets. Just a thought, have you made sure all the bits of fabric have been removed? On the side, on mine, you can see where the material ends up. I had to clear that all out to make sure it would still work.
I'm finally getting around to sew up this bag! I really love it! I have 2 questions. First, you briefly mentioned the front pocket magnetic closure shouldnt be 3/4" down, but something else and I can't find that part in the video again! 🤦♀️ I think it had something to do with top stitching? Next, I'd like your opinion on the side strap anchors, like the fabric covered.... strengthwise to hold up yo those who load up a bag, would the weight rip those anchors out since they are only held in with prongs? I appreciate your response and help!
With the zipper, Is there a way use a "pre-made" zipper? Just get it long enough so there are no issues when installing? When putting those back together it seldom lines up but I guess I could try.
You choose the most beautiful fabrics! Love this tutorial as always. Question: If my Decovil light pulled away from my fabric, could it be because I didn’t fuse it well enough to my fabric? I left it out of my seam allowances because of my domestic machine, but it came off when I was turning my bag. Thank you in advance for your response.
I really like this bag. I did buy the pattern but I am HORRIBLE at putting on the zipper pull. I use zipper tape all the time and struggle with this. The reason I haven't made this bag is having to remove the zipper pull. No kidding. Do you have any tricks on getting the zipper pull on? I usually end up losing a good inch when I put the pull on. I know the line helps to make sure things are where they should be but that is only if you can get the danged zipper pull on. Any ideas?
When I’ve gone on fabric.com for the waterproof canvas there’s different weights listed. Which weight/denier do you use or recommend? (I have a domestic machine.). Also, what kind of tape are you using to cover the prongs of the snap? Thank you.

I finally built the courage to make this bag. An awesome tutorial! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. I really needed your help doing the top corners!👍😃

Your hoodies were Fabulous! I loved both of them! "Straight out of Scranton" and "Dwight"! I love Dunder Mifflin!

So beautiful!! Wow! I love your fabric choices too! Excellent workmanship! ❤️

I loved this video! I"ve made a couple of bags and always struggled. This way I can read the pattern and watch what you do! Thanks a bunch.
Thank you for the video, good job on the bag it’s cute
Kasiah, thanks for leaving in the trouble spots and errors, it is so helpful to see how you work through it. I learn more every time!
Another great tutorial. I especially liked how your camera angle was spot on when you were showing how to install the strap anchors and box the top of the bag. This definitely will be a bag I will add to my list of makes I want to do.
? the camera angle was right off when she was boxing the top of the bag, could not see at all what she was doing ????
Beautiful bag! Love it!!! You have some major sewing skills. 👍
From sewing garments in my earlier days, I have learned that cutting the lining and exterior fabrics using small clips along the seam allowances will help to flatten the curve. I have been doing that in my bag-making and it really helps. Just don't clip the zipper tape.
Super nice I just bought this pattern .
Lovely bag. Great tutorial

I have an off brand Juki 1181n as well. I found throat plates with the seam allowance markings on Juki Junkies.
Thank you for another great tutorial. I watch all of your, but think I will pass on this bag. It looks like quite a struggle and I do these for the love of it, but do not think I will love doing this one.
Great video as always! Your bag turned out beautiful. You're so brave to make a bag for the first time and film. Thank you for making this one :)
I love this bag. Thank you. Oh, and BTW I’ve been using waterproof canvas. It’s great. And what a time saver not to have to add interfacing. Looks more professional too.
I love that bag

You can do it!!

Love your sweatshirt 💕
Thank you for doing the video ♡

Such a cute bag cant wait to watch you make it.

Do I add the Decovil light first or the woven interfacing to the outside panels? Great video explained very well. Thank you!!
Always woven first, then decovil.
I hope to make his purse. Thank you for the tutorial. One question where does one find the big rings for the straps? What size are they?
I sell them on my website:siahswagbags.com/collections/hardware-example/products/1-1-2-inch-o-rings
This is the bag I’m going to make
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!

Yes that usually is what the problem is.

The line is seriously the best help for me....
So her patterns come with templates?
When I’ve gone on fabric.com for the waterproof canvas there’s different weights listed. Which weight/denier do you use or recommend? (I have a domestic machine.). Also, what kind of tape are you using to cover the prongs of the snap? Thank you.
I get the 11 oz ottertex canvas. The tape is just a wider DST with only one side of the tape taken off.
I love the handbag you are making do you sale them how do I get one karen May
Hello! Thank you so much. Yes I sell them here SiahSwagBags.com
Love your videos. What is the size of the rings you used for the handles?
They are 1.5 I believe
Did you edgecoat your vinyl/faux leather?
I have yes.
Love the bag and video but why worry about your threads on inside and not on outside
Love that cotton fabric? Mind sharing where it came from?
Link is in the description 😀
Love all your videos...The fabric @ Hawthron's has fabric type selection, which one did you use? Thanks for another fun video...Barb
This one is the sateen and thank you!!
@@SiahSwag Thank you
Could you put a rivet to hold the strap connectors on
yes but it would have to be on each side of your seams, you don't every want to punch a hole through your side seam.
How about putting the strap connector inside the top box square
Yes if your machine can handle the layers that would totally work!
Love the look of this bag, could it made all in cork or vinyl ?
Yes. I made one in all cork for one of the prototypes. You could omit the fleece from the exterior.
@@kayapapayadesign261 Thank you.
@@colleenmarsters548 you're welcome! :)
What is the vinyl you used? Im in the UK and i don't seem to be able to find anything like that. Its lovely xx
Your double sided tape looks nice and strong. Which one do you buy?
It’s the leather DST from wawak.com
Спасибо)
Where do you get your brand name plates?
I ordered them from Alibaba.com
Has anyone made this bag out of vinyl, if so did you run into any problems?
I don’t know... I think it would work if you have a machine that could handle it.
Es preciosa ! Me encantan tus vídeos , ..Siah ponle subtítulos en Español, por favor...ahora no puedo entenderte😢... Gracias 😘🌹❤
Is that an industrial sewing machine?
Yes it is
Beautiful 🎒, but don't think I could do it on a domestic, and it seams complicated
ممكن كتابة الاعداد قياسات
