More like you get punched in the face lol. Anything dealing with someone's personal image in the west seems to have a negative connotation. That's even more true nowadays. White Americans make up 77% of the population and most famous American actors are also white so it's really not that surprising? 6:36 I can confirm that Vancouver is indeed a city in British Columbia, a province on the far west coast of Canada. I'm from Seattle, Washington, USA, which is only about three hours south of Vancouver, BC. I think I spent more of my dating life up there than in my own country :) It gets even more confusing for people living in Washington State, because we also have a city named "Vancouver." It's nowhere near as sexy as Vancouver BC, but often we have to distinguish which Vancouver we're talking about. It's all because this British naval explorer named George Vancouver sailed up and down the Pacific Northwest region of the continent in the late 1800's, including territory that would later become Canada, reporting on this spiffy new part of the world. Apparently he impressed everyone :)
I’m from Spain and when I went to South Korea everyone was so nice with me! Most of them haven’t seen an european blonde guy before so their reaction was so funny and cute :)
i hate how whenever it’s meeting an america it’s always a blonde girl that matches korean beauty standards 😬😬 that perpetuates the idea that all americans are like that when it’s just not realistic and seems a bit weird to me she is really pretty though 🥺❤️
It's because South Korea has been America's ally since the Korean War. North Korea is China/Russia ally. South Korea has had the luxury of having western movies/media for +50 years, and those years have some of the greatest films of western society (hollywood today is much different) but western media has had a huge part in the way beauty is viewed. It's not something to "hate" it's just something to understand. If you want, you can enjoy North Korean beauty, since western society has not had a hold on it, but then you'd be seen as a fool in the eyes of South Koreans. Hate comes from ignorance.
Love it! Please Do Koreans meet Italian for the first time with Seoul Mafia (italian youtuber living in korea, he's really funny and speaks korean as well)
Y’all need to chill with the cause she’s white and blonde that’s why they kept calling her pretty. Every time I met someone from Korea they always called me handsome, and I for one have dark brown hair and eyes. Plus I ain’t even American, or look that amazing, so chill out.
It's not that. It's just a bit of a shame that they still chose a caucasian to portray an American. It would have been cool if they introduced them to a black man, an afro-latina woman, an ameridian guy, a woman with vietnamese origines or even several people at the same time or wathever. And I'm not saying it's Emily's fault of course, but it would have been cool to dismantle the stereotype of the american (and even the westerner in general) who is necessarily white, blond with blue eyes and good looking. While they're not only whites in united states (they're even becoming more and more in the minority) and, honestly, they're not all good looking either.
Origami Sama I’m pretty sure these people aren’t that stupid to believe those stereotypes. They probably already know very well that America is very diverse.
Origami Sama They don’t need it to be shown, they know. It can be a different video in the future maybe. But it’s not like she’s ‘portraying’ an American, she literally is one, and that’s it - meeting an American who can speak Korean for the first time.
I’m gonna guess it’s because to hide their teeth/mouth. I don’t think it matter whether they have good teeth or not, they just hide it out of instinct.
Because in some area's it's considered rude not to cover ones mouth. Besides, whenever you give anyone a smile they assume you either want to date or screw, and at some point it gets annoying.
You should have done one with every race, including Asian, and see their reaction. It’s 2020 and people still can’t differentiate the difference between nationality and ethnicity - An (Asian) American living in Asia
Those videos always amaze me. You should have seen some of the Japanese people I men on my trip to Japan when I told them I am from Greece. They were always exclamating "Girisha!!!" with wide eyes! A grandpa even grabbed a camera to take a photo of me and my wife in a sushi restaurant. I love genuine reactions like that, especially in a country like Japan where the population is so dense, you don't expect such a reaction.
So we’re not gonna talk about how the guy in the green literally acts like every K-pop male Idol when they don’t know English so they try using their hands but it makes 0 sense? 😂 its so funny and cute

@ʚ*sleepybear* ɞ so are you and the majority of the people in the comments. Accept it and enjoy the uwu's
*sweetmlk* ̊ So because you like korean culture your a koreaboo? LOGIC 0% 😂
I went to China as a black girl and I think everyone thought I was Beyonce 😭😭
Edit: guyssss don't cry 😭
Chicken Nugget it’s like that only thing they know when it comes to us. That and Nicki Minaj. Never been to Korea but it seems that way haha.
😭😭
OMG 😭
They do that with every black foreigner it's hilarious 😭😭
LAKELSJE😭
Yumi is so self-depreciating, she is indeed a beautiful young woman who’s smile is infectious.
I wish there was more communication! This looked so awkward. “Hi, okay bye.” Was I the only one that felt that way?
Angela Howard I think they cut out a bit maybe.
sameee I felt so awkward the whole time- I also felt bad for the guy at the end he asked if he wanted to be friends and the girl said she'd think about it :CCCCC he looked so sad ;c
I can imagine but asians are usually a little bit more reserved, so situations like these dont really get them going I think
Yes it was very awkward. It's like hey I am from America, I am American. Look at me, I look different. I honestly didnt think this met was that good.
I think it would be really interesting to have them meet people from different parts of the US and other countries as well
I wanna keep Yumi in my pocket. She's so adorable 😂
Same 😂

They’re going to make fun of them
@Aussie Chunda any black person, doesnt matter lightskin or darkskin
Relax, don't want to scare them
Amuro Ray 🤨 huh?
So cuuute!! I wish it was longer: I'd have liked to see more questions/conversations.
It was interesting to watch the American cover her face when she smiled. (A common action in Korea but not America). Shows that she’s really taken steps to better understand Korean culture.
I’m American and I do that a lot
I actually do that a lot (from Canada here) ooOops
Yes!
Huh i was wondering about that was about to search it up but not anymore, neat learning a bit about other cultures
Okay so apparently covering your mouth while laughing is strictly korean. Gee, you should get out more.
Emily’s eyes are SO PRETTY!!!
Emily got a huge confidence boost after this.
You think she wasn't? Lol
She’s not an average American these girls out here thinking Americans are just gorgeous
She's like the top 1% of Americans. I feel bad for Koreans/foreigners who believe all Americans look like this.
There are lots of attractive people everywhere, there will always be ‘ un attractive people ‘ too . I’m sure they know that lol
I had a friend who looked like her.
are you saying americans are ugly? lmao don’t focus on looks so much
What's an average American look like?? Isn't that up for interpretation because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, there's attractive people everywhere doesn't matter where you're from 🤗
My time overseas was met with "Are you sure you're American?" "You're eyes are too small to be American" and this gorgeous girl gets such nice compliments.
LOL what does that mean "your eyes are too small to be American?" In east Asia people usually compliment my nose within seconds of meeting me. It confuses me but I'll take any compliment haha.
"meeting koreanised Americans" would have been funnier meeting normal Americans lmfao
Too fat, they dont fit on an airplane to korea
@@lolmao500 lmfao and where might you be from
@Maya R all she said was "yeah that doesn't make sense in English" I want someone to be like bruhh I'm not your sister yet or some shit like that, even if I knew it was coming it would still be jokes
@Bouya kinda? The makeup gave it away lool
Liam Davies Bruh, just because she’s wearing that type of makeup doesn’t mean its korean makeup. That natural look type of makeup has been going since like the 1940s. First developed in like europe.
If western girls like that type of makeup let them be. It doesn’t automatically make them a koreaboo or whatever. Its just natural makeup!!!
Emily is so freaking stunning omfg I couldn't take my eyes off her
I love how she matched her energy to everyone's vibe
You should do one where Koreans meet Hispanics that would be fun to watch

She’s only been there for 10 months...
*"I brought you guys here and you guys talk about geography?"* LMAO that text 😂
That’s the most foreign looking white american girl I’ve seen. How her skin so white
Also take into the fact that she’s been in Korea for like 10 months. Quarantining for only 3 months made my skin a lot lighter than it used to be
The fact that she lives in San Diego is insane, she's so light skinned....how is it possible.
@@TCS5499 even so....how???
She got that I'm a ghost type paleness
lmao because she's a powder donut with baby powder
They should have given them a typical American person. She's too Koreanized that's why they like her lol

The American girl looks and act matured than even her older korean counterpart
in korea all the rage is looking innocent, cute, and younger. in america, people usually go for more mature make-up
Wait why didn’t she want to speak Korean when the people would get nervous and not understand?
I think she was trying to ease them into the conversation because they don't immediately know she can speak Korean. Also we don't see how the whole conversation went there were surely cuts in the video to shorten down time. Maybe she spoke korean with them off screen 🤔
MizzMyst3rious I mean I guess
@@soignerel I think it was the director who told them to do that. One girl asked if she could speak Korean when looking at the camera and then was told not to, But they ended up speaking Korean anyway because she didn't know English and they wouldn't have been able to talk.
Ooohhhhh I would love to do something like this! Im a tatted up black woman from Alabama...lord knows what their reactions would be upon meeting me and finding out I speak Korean lol
@DaddyGirl i have been studying on my own off and on for over a year. I am a chef by trade and I fell in love with Korean cuisine a year ago. I love studying and I always looking for ways to learn more. It is an obession.
Marlena That’s amazing! I fell in love with their cuisine and I’m highly interested in their culture I just need the dedication to properly learn the language. Are you considering visiting Korea?
It would be so cool if you could be in one of their videos! I love tattoos as well, it would be pretty shocking to them. I just really wanna see POC representation in these types of videos
@@michfreedom2588 Yes I am. I have my passport application and have been planning on going with my best friend and his wife in the next year or so.
@@dracunav I mean I understand that. We are being killed in the streets here; the most I have ever heard of in Korea is a dirty look and that was years ago. Just like here in the states, dont let someones else fear of you control how you live your life. Be determined to be the best you can be, where ever you are.
If you need brazilians living in Korea, i'm here 😂
OhhNice to meet you 🍀 U are so lucky that u were in South Korea🇰🇷 😓

Yumi and Bom was such a mood! Their reaction was really cute and funny😂🤘🏽..
She looks like sabrina carpenter but with short hair
That was super cool! I wish we could've seen more of the conversations they must have had, and maybe what the regulars thought of Emily afterwards, in private.
I wish the video was longer. There should’ve been more questions from Korean. We only saw the introduction between each other. 😐
I love how one of the first things the girls told her was how pretty she is, like we can just compliment each other easily, love that
I love how all the girls just fall in love with Emily
Cuz she's white

I need Yumi as my friend. Oh my gosh, she is so adorable! 💕
I love how Korea’s half way covers there mounts when they wanna smile or laugh
Why is it always a white Americans people(Korean) think of when people say foreigners or Americans, what about a black person,Hispanic, middle eastern people who are American.
@DaddyGirl yo I am an asian and I get a bit annoyed when I see things like this all the time but I guess this video is for laughs and giggles and people are not being mean. I do understand where you are coming from tho.
Thank you for saying this bc I thought the same thing too.
White Americans make up 77% of the population and most famous American actors are also white so it's really not that surprising? I'm from Eastern Europe and if I heard someone's American without seeing them I'd first imagine a white person too and then black since they are the largest ethnic minority, even though I know Americans can be anything 😅 So it's not just Koreans and it's not really illogical if you think about it...
That's what Koreans want to see lol tbh. I've lived and worked in South Korea.
@wut something It's not about majority, it's about diversity.
What was the aim of the video? Koreans meeting a white american girl. While it would have been more interesting to see them meeting other races, them asking questions etc..
This was so cute! What a great idea.. it’s interesting growing up the States bc you are constantly surrounded by people of different nationalities and so I have always felt comfortable interacting with people from different countries. Heck, I have been to stores where I am the only white person speaking English hahahaha - in the States!!! When I worked at a pick your own farm I would meet people who immigrated here from India, Morocco, Pakistan, Algeria, Russia, Slovakia, Romania, Jordan.... which always made the job fun but also shows how diverse we are
6:36 I can confirm that Vancouver is indeed a city in British Columbia, a province on the far west coast of Canada. I'm from Seattle, Washington, USA, which is only about three hours south of Vancouver, BC. I think I spent more of my dating life up there than in my own country :)
It gets even more confusing for people living in Washington State, because we also have a city named "Vancouver." It's nowhere near as sexy as Vancouver BC, but often we have to distinguish which Vancouver we're talking about.
It's all because this British naval explorer named George Vancouver sailed up and down the Pacific Northwest region of the continent in the late 1800's, including territory that would later become Canada, reporting on this spiffy new part of the world. Apparently he impressed everyone :)
Lol from San Diego too, it's next to Mexico...
I’m from Spain and when I went to South Korea everyone was so nice with me! Most of them haven’t seen an european blonde guy before so their reaction was so funny and cute :)
I deadass thought she was Sabrina carpenter
Riiigghhttt🤔🤔

YESSS ME TOO
Nsnsh
i hate how whenever it’s meeting an america it’s always a blonde girl that matches korean beauty standards 😬😬 that perpetuates the idea that all americans are like that when it’s just not realistic and seems a bit weird to me
she is really pretty though 🥺❤️
the asians girls were all pretty also though ? and i dont think anyone thinks america is full of beautiful blonde blue eyes ladies
John Gavazaj nah trust me they usually think it’s full of only white girls who are blonde and blue eyes, that’s what they usually think of first
It's because South Korea has been America's ally since the Korean War.
Shes not natural
ʚ*sleepybear* ɞ wtf no she’s not 😂😂
She looks like Sabrina carpenter
My thoughts exactly😂
" I brought you guys here and you talk about geography seriously?!" 🤣🤣🤣
All the Korean people in here are so expressive I need to meet more people like that

Love it! Please Do Koreans meet Italian for the first time with Seoul Mafia (italian youtuber living in korea, he's really funny and speaks korean as well)
Their reactions were so cute!
I can see why they are all blown away by her beauty. I wish we could see more of their questions.
@@Okk681 So why not show them this diversity?
Origami Sama They don’t need it to be shown, they know. It can be a different video in the future maybe. But it’s not like she’s ‘portraying’ an American, she literally is one, and that’s it - meeting an American who can speak Korean for the first time.
You just don't get it. You don't think that much about things because you don't have to.
I'll never understand why girls cover their smiles. They're hiding one of their best features.
when we get the combination of happiness and shyness we do that automatically we just cant help it
I’m gonna guess it’s because to hide their teeth/mouth. I don’t think it matter whether they have good teeth or not, they just hide it out of instinct.
Because in some area's it's considered rude not to cover ones mouth. Besides, whenever you give anyone a smile they assume you either want to date or screw, and at some point it gets annoying.
@@mikikiki2259 I was taught in school to always cover my mouth when i eat, sneeze or laugh cause its inproper lol
It's just a cultural difference. Others will never understand the culture of your country either

Wow , i'm too early i guessed ... it was uploaded 23 seconds ago 😍
The skin of American girl are shining shimmering splendid
ofcourse the first thing she says the american girl’s eyes are beautiful....
Everyone’s eyes are beautiful
this was so sweet, all the girls I think were like you’re rly pretty oh my- i- I loved this🌈
You should have done one with every race, including Asian, and see their reaction. It’s 2020 and people still can’t differentiate the difference between nationality and ethnicity - An (Asian) American living in Asia
Right and a lot of Koreans already thinks that Americans are just white with blue eyes and blonde hair 💀
Christine L They should also do South Asian because they have different features and cultures
that's a really great idea
Those videos always amaze me. You should have seen some of the Japanese people I men on my trip to Japan when I told them I am from Greece. They were always exclamating "Girisha!!!" with wide eyes! A grandpa even grabbed a camera to take a photo of me and my wife in a sushi restaurant. I love genuine reactions like that, especially in a country like Japan where the population is so dense, you don't expect such a reaction.
