My mother was half Cherokee. Sadly her father grew up in a time it was shameful to be of indigenous heritage so he left the res and denounced his heritage. I love going back and reading and researching my ancestry. This makes me smile.

My people! My grandmother took me to this show when I was a boy while visiting the motherland. I knew my history but this was the turning point toward my pride as a Cherokee native. To this day I am a proud Cherokee/Chaloklowa Chickasaw.

I'm blown away with the art displayed in this video! Not only is the song an actual Cherokee traditional song, but most all of the images are of authentically depicted. I wish credit could have been given to the singer and the artists. Amazing!

Thank you for uploading this video! It continues to be the most accurate historical and cultural depiction I've seen on the internet. I'm not angry at the Sioux or anything, but when I see a painting of a Sioux Chief next to the word "Cherokee," it drives me up a wall!

mic mack it's just a way to keep us from ever having our people in the system unless were tagged with identified tribal number..and highly monitored at that..this is coming from being on the reservation having the bia stalking behind every corner it'll be something you'll learn not as much if your yay lighter as long as your not stereotyped as a trouble maker....it is said as long as it's pure bloods they're not going to deteriorate the Rez and people consider us not humans off the Rez..when so much was gain from us teaching the first immigrant settlers and even George Washington stated that we NDN is as smart as the white folks but wild..he said it a bit racist then I wrote but he said it our ideas could save our country..we NDNs was never against new ideas as long as it didn't hurt the earth..we enjoy solar power and wind power/electric cars bc it uses natural free energy and don't harm the balance..hence,why when the pilgrims came our towns and villages were built within nature rather outside of it like early Europeans built..we have the idea for the future the whole time..just think if we wasn't slaughtered but listen to how great the nation would have been today better..also nikola tesla had this idea of free energy..the only problem is no electrical bills or gas bill which means no money for corporates....would it be nice to not pay for electricity nor gas bill..it'll make people "renesaince " to a new age of mankind..peace

Wado Mic Mack for sharing. Strong Hearts Native Helpline has many resources, more orgs, in particular native/cultural ones are being created. We have TOTA for our ancestors and MMIWG2S groups but also many of us are trying to 1. find name identify those from the schools and 2. ensure a memorial is created for all, including survivors. Many efforts, be a part if you can as you heal from the hell including those before you. I hate and am so embarrassed I do not know more words to say to express to you in Tsalagi. Someday I will and the next generation more. My heart to you and I hope to see you use this, if you can and with self care, as an opportunity to speak, to cry out in the war song, make it rain (as originally meant) to also create change where/when/how you can. My heart resonates with your words and beats with each strike against you, rise above, create change and shower a hailstorm to your heart beat as you do.

@@falsedmitry3372 Why does it matter? Just curious considering beards seem to be all the fashion these days. Well, honestly, i have immediate knee jerk reaction to that question and it being directed at mic mack vs. ingenous in general and it's relevance which causes me to wonder if question sincere or trolling someone who shared a very deep moment. So deep that posting such if with malice is like someone posting on your personal Facebook etc. and not only disliking a post but a trolling reply. Feel free to find mind as i don't care but I don't easily tolerate bullies and trolls, even via Facebook. That was very personal and anyone aware and not a psychopath with empathy and education in boarding schools simply would not write a poke to stir emotions and get someone upset when sharing. Perhaps do in person at a 12 step meeting and see the reaction. It would be more kind or less than the maybe you're just ignorant response I'm replying.

@T1 in Otali dialect yes. But in Giduwa, blackcitroenlove is correct. Just like the responses. Otali: "Gvlieliga" and in Giduwa: "hawa". Also just for pointing out some accent differences: Giduwa (Eastern Band) pronounce most hard "s" sounds as "sh". Along with a few other subtle changes to different words, such as using a "gw" sound over the "qu" sound. Otali dialect likes to be more focused on "proper" speaking and favors longer words. Where as Giduwa favor smaller words for an easier flow when speaking. this makes me believe the former Chickamauga dialect would have been much closer to the modern Giduwa accent rather than the modern Otali.

It is mindsets like this that will kill culture any culture to be Cherokee yes first and foremost is to be of the blood Cherokee but really to be Cherokee is much more than that my brother or sister you know this to be true the old ways the whole planet needs to wake up to them and the Cherokee people can be a channel for that but not with a mindset like this don't be like mogwai on the last of the Mohicans seriously he became that which twisted him Hawkeye was more of a native than he would have ever been because he understood what it meant to be one of the people I'm not full blooded Cherokee but there is a lot in me maybe not so much in my looks... now when you look at me I look Irish as hell but if you stare at me long enough you can see it and it is alive and well in me matter of fact it cries out through me like a wolf I can't explain it no pun intended on the wolf but I'm serious and Cherokee ain't even a real thing that's something that the Europeans came up with.... that's a word that the Europeans misinterpreted when they heard "Ja-La-Gee" love and positive vibes from me to you always

Native american DNa doesn't show up cause the majority of them are of eruasin genome or of mongolian, chinese genology and siberian genology, they migrated through the bering bridge 15,000 years ago long before vikings and other colonizers

One more thing; it was the CHEROKEE WOMEN who made the "decisions" and "negotiated" for the Tribe, not the men. You will note PENIS worship prevails in this video, which should tell you WHO created this master piece. What you have here is an interpretation by a WHITE, IMPORTED, CHRISTIAN who helps rewrite history.
Be warned about the Bald, Blind, Deaf, and Toothless; those Carnivores who carry symbols of torture, spreading Sickness and Disease.

Some of y'all should read up on the different Chiefs. There were three. And, yes, Cherokee society, in the villages, women did call the shots. One Chief was a Women too.

Actually, it is. Bo Taylor is the singer, and he's a cultural expert in our nation (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.) I've known the man for over half my life. Unless you're a member of our nation, don't attempt to tell anyone what is Cherokee or what is not. You have no right to even assume you're an expert, as it isn't your culture.

I will never become a member of the Incorporated Cherokee; aka WHITE, IMPORTED, CHRISTIAN; the Perverted Man.
