CORRECTIONS: (1) I promised pad swapping analysis and then promptly forgot to look at the graphs. Here are graphs of Auteur Classic measured with some various ZMF pads. Neither I nor Zach recommend the suede or hybrid pads on Auteur... but maybe you'd like it. squig.link/headphones/?share=KEMAR_DF_(KB006x)_10dB_Tilt_Target,ZMF_Auteur_Classic,ZMF_Auteur_Classic_Caldera_hybrid,ZMF_Auteur_Classic_Caldera_lamb,ZMF_Auteur_Classic_Caldera_suede (2) I referred to some ergonomic issues these share in common with the Bokeh Closed. I meant the Caldera Closed. Bokeh avoids those issues for me.
If it is possible I'd like to see how pads other than variations of the Caldera pads would measure since there is a very wide variety of ZMF pads. Maybe Zach might send you some more pads when he reads this comment lol.
The Auteur perforated suede is actually my favourite pad on the Auteur Classic (have had them about a year-and-a-half and love them). I think it shifts them more towards the 6XX sound though, which is the Sennheiser 6 model I had, but improved in just about every way.
My preferred pads are usually the lambskins, but there's nothing wrong with the hybrid or suede variants as long as it's one of the recommended pad types that we recommend per model.
Your Lucky I would gladly trade those for my brand new condition auduze LCD 2 simply adding a ZMF B.B.B. Strap or a capraaudio ZMF Comfort Strap If your head is heat sensitive fix that comfort issue you have super man bro 😊 i would go with the Caldera Lamb Thick TP or Caldera Lamb Thick TSP especially with my ears because they stick farther out than most
If you're after that midrange focused sound, Also try the Aeolus. There's something special about it. Not the best resolution or soundstage, but definitely the best timbre. (Get it with Suede perforated or Hybrid perforated pads).
Agreed. I'm not usually running around the house, but even catching a cable on the corner of my desk can yank out a 3.5mm -- or do worse with a mini XLR.
Haven't heard Closed. vs. Atrium Open, I heard Atrium to be warmer, and because of that a little stuffier and less exciting. Not sure if I was listening to stock pads.
Another great review. I think you are so generous with ZMF. I thought you would give it 3 or 3.5 stars. I think you give it 4 stars because of its look not its sound. 5555

Auteur has been one of my favorites, your review make me wanna get back into the headphone game and buy the Auteur Classic.
I like the grills on the Auteur. They remind me of rose windows in cathedrals. Suitable for people who worship great sound.😉
Sounds about right.
I have the original auteur and man the comfort and sound is just relaxing and natural. I'll never get rid of them
Funny enough, I still haven't heard the original that got my attention 😅

Looks like maybe Aeolus is a bit warmer, I'll try it some day.
i prefer two 3.5 mm jacks because it disconnects instead of breaking the wire when you are a bit carelessly running around the house with music

Compare to ZMF Atrium Closed?

I would like to see ZMF take a crack at a modern industrial design. One day. Maybe.
Maybe something in the direction of Meze? Keep the wood, but elevate it?

Do you have a list of your 5 Star headphones (if any)?
KSC75, HD 600, MM-500 I think are it.
Surprised to see you list KSC - they’re not exactly great sounding
Day 1 of asking Super*Review to review the Aune AR5000
I still prefer the hd600. The Auteur and Aeolus sound like a half open back half closed back to me. Hd600 is so open sounding and airy.
HD 600 is really hard to beat.
@@SuperReview Yea, I've gone back to it. Such a great headphone despite some of its weakness.

Well, stay tuned for my next ZMF review next week... I will be accused of the opposite.
My man destroying ZMF piece by piece alone. 😂
I like this one!
@@SuperReview Will you get Bokeh Open?
