    It was a good routine, but in my professional opinion some of the movements with the rifle need to have more “snap and pop” as I like to call it. Lots of the cadets were being very lax with their manual of arms, each movement should be strong and straight to the point. I can understand if the routine had to fit within a time frame, however, the routine would look so much better if there was more power added into the manual of arms and the rifle spins.

Do young people who do this for 2-5 years (if started on the part in junior high) develop skills that are transferable ? What motivates an teenager to stick with this during final years of high school?

      Ik that I'm probably late to this comment but I'm a freshman and I started JROTC a couple weeks ago and here's what I personally think with what Ik so far:
      1. Listen to the leader of the class, or whoever is leading you. (Pretty obvious).
      2. If you practice drill, make sure you remember your left and right face or that'll really mess you up.
      3. Do not, and I repeat, do not get out of attention or whatever command you have been given in your platoon unless you have been told to.
      4. Be respectful to your peers.
      5. Keep your uniform crisp and tidy and DO NOT machine wash it.
      6. Follow the regulations of wearing your uniform on uniform days.
      7. Try your best to keep your bearing.
      8. Get involved as much as you can and have fun!

    So at the 6:20 ish mark when they put the rifles on the floor, some comps consider any part of the rifle touching the floor that isn't the butt plate a drop. So I'd be careful about that. I did something similar but one guy put the rifle to order arms on the left side and the other was a port with 1 hand off the rifle. Then guy 1 puts his free hand on the rifle and they would spin it together. That's me recommendation to avoid unnecessary hits at different competitions.

    • @carsonstephens2508
      @carsonstephens2508 4 роки тому

      Yeah. That’s how it is for Nationals; only part allowed to touch is the buttplate, even then you have to have a pad.
