Not only is it a beautiful song, but there's also the feeling of accomplishment at beating one of the hardest JRPG's of the time. Thirty years on and the Passage to Rhone STILL gives me nightmares.
I just finished “Your Story” and at first I was at a loss for words with the twist. I was QUITE upset with what i had just watched and I almost didn’t finish the movie. But then I watched the rest of the scene. And I can day whole heartedly, This is one of the first movies I’ve actually felt tears welling up in my eyes from. Your experiences and memories from your childhood are the ones that seem the most real to you. Even if they aren’t in a technical sense. They aren’t just programmed zeroes and ones, they’re another reality.
yes it was a masterpiece, the ending was the best because it make us stand on the shoes of luca, it setup early and foreshadowed from hindsight, it not just fake, the memories that we made playing those games were real.
Every story no matter how different each hero looked and how different your party was you always felt like you were the Hero. The team did such a good job of making you feel like an adventurer, each story made you want to play more since the hero was silent you put your input. That’s why I like DQ over FF, the protagonist talks in FF so it feels like you’re playing a narrative. In DQ it’s your decision, your actions, your feelings that go into it. That’s why it’s Your Story

This song has Japanese lyrics. A man is recalling his boyhood's adventures. He is living towards an unfinished dream since those days still now. So, he goes his own journey for the dream with repeating meeting and parting.
All the while facing the strongest foes with a hero’s unyielding spirit, the fatherly love he has for his son, the bonds he shares with his friends, the romance he has with his wife, the feeling of family with his parents, and an inner light that always shines bright, even when the odds are stacked at their highest. Honestly, that about sums it up, the memories we have, the times we share, the moments we experience, all of those are what make our lives real. No matter what world we live in, be it reality or a game.
In Mexico we grew up with this anime, and all the fans here remember the version with lyrics (in Spanish). Indeed lyrics are very nostalgic, just as you described them
Thank you for everything you have done, Kōichi Sugiyama. You are and will remain the greatest composer in the history of video games. May heaven open its doors to you
I never got to play this game. My first game in the series was cursed king and I loved that game and hearing this song it melts my heart. It’s so beautiful.
I made up my own lyrics to sing this to my pet cockatiel, "Oh Marzipan, Oh Marzipan -- You are my special little boy!" Sadly, he passed away shortly after I started singing this to him. Now I always think of him when I hear this.
I played I - III back to back over the past week or two. I played III, I, II for chronology's sake and boy did this theme hit when I first heard it. What a wonderful series.
Why does this give me nostalgia despite never playing the game this is from? Is it the chord progressions? The melody? This song makes me miss my childhood.
I remember watching this when I was a kid and oh boy!!!!!! Best soundtrack!!!! 💝💝💝💝 Holly shit. For those of us who watched this anime and heard this song.... Man, it makes me cry. Tears of joy and so many memories

Yes, I love DQ music, but as with most Japanese video game music, it's often based on music that's in the public domain. Many Zelda tunes come directly via Holst (The Planets, for example).

The closest you can get for symphonic soundtrack is by playing the iOS/Android version of the game.
