      I think he might do a fencing project but to take it over on the other side of the Creek as he always talked about someday he wanted to make a pasture on the other side but had to put a bridge in. Or they are going to put a B@B in up by the house, possibly put a 3 car garage with living quarters up above and rent it out as a Bed and Breakfast. It would sure bug me keeping my vehicles outside in the climates.

    You're Kinda running with the nail gun accident, so keep in mind, farmers get hurt quite often so start picking up your messes as you make them, less chance of injury. When scooping cookie dough, keep a container of water to dip your scoop in from time to time. It makes scooping much faster and easier and saves time. Dip your scoop in the water, shake off the excess and scoop away. Nice job on the dough.

    Good Morning Al and family. We just fill a 5 gallon bucket halfway with water, put enough black sunflower seeds to cover the top of the water and put a stick hovering over the seeds for the mouse to crawl up. The sunflower seeds looks like a solid surface, so the mouse will get in and can't get out. I'm not sure if you have already done that. I am catching up on old vlogs. I'm so glad your leg is okay. I'm not a mean person, but I couldn't stop laughing at how nonchalant you were. But, back to work, things to do, no time to rest. We love your family and hope to one day be as self sufficient as your family is.

    Gina looks like she's herding chickens as she walks down to the goat milking station, lol. And I really love how Willow (is that the mom?) and Nora always look like goat + mini-me, even facing the same direction, whenever you check on the goats in their stall.
    I have a couple of questions, well, one question and one suggestion. Can you sprinkle the type of concrete that sets up rapidly on top of the gravel you just spread out so that there is less erosion? And the suggestion: I think making raised flower beds on two or three sides of the pig butchering area would really dress it up for the times it's not being used.

There are mouse bands, mouse brushes and plates with tiny holes, and other things such that you could mouse proof your milking room with whatever suits best. With such a tiny room, all you have to do is making sure there are no openings wider than the width of a pencil...

    One recent way heating a Greenhouse in Wintertime that's has been gaining popularity is to use earth tubes under compost piles because they generate heat even in the coldest month and the temperature can been quite considerable. Indeed the tubes only circulate air and an innovative retiree in Nebraska uses just the heat from the ground/fans to heat his home and buried Greenhouse that collects passive solar to grow Citrus year round even there during the coldest month on the Great Plains. Feeding Livestock can make it cost more per pound than it is even at a store and a single Cow even for milking purposes needs nearly 5 tons of feed in a year and unless you can grow/bail your own it's a losing proposition since many forget that equation when raising what you'll eat.

    I like when he says it's a beautiful morning out there this morning and the video immediately cuts to his wife. It isn't the first time I noticed this.

    Could you install a triangled roof cover at the door entrance of the green house to avoid the snow blocking it ? So the snow falls off to the sides like /\ shape
    😂🤦 Oh boy am i bad at explaining things

    • @samvalentine3206
      @samvalentine3206 3 роки тому +17

      No, you're actually very good at explaining it as it's easy to see in the mind's eye what it is you're implying. It's a good idea to keep the snow away from the greenhouse entrance!

      JudithB Good idea, but I would build an airlock building against the doors. It would dump snow off to the sides and keep cold air from rushing into the greenhouse. I access my greenhouse from inside the barn and Arkansas is no where close as cold as up there!!!

    2020 has been mostly the same for us..... except maybe supply shortages. But not too big a deal for us because of where we live. We buy in bulk and store a lot of extra goods because I shop once every month or 2 because the store is 2 hours away. We eat wild game, grow our own produce, and we are mostly self sufficient and have been for years. I feel blessed that the good Lord provided this life for us❤️❤️❤️

    It is definitely baking weather! And, the aroma of the fresh-baked goodies is too much of a temptation. By the way, the broken egg and the flour mess were great! The messes are part of my routine!

    I love the fact you use wooden tables for cutting up your meat so many people, nowadays you stainless steel and plastic. My uncle was a butcher and sometimes I would get to work in his shop from time to time.. one of my jobs was to take care of the wooden tables however, I did that job different than you did. 1. First of all, I would wash down the tables with warm, soapy, water, and a hard, bristle brush. 2. I would allow it to air dry for a few moments, and then sprinkle sawdust all over the table. 3. Then, with the sawdust on the table, I would take a wire brush and go to town, scrubbing it, good and proper. 4. Next, I would brush all the dust off the table with a soft bristle bannister brush. 5. Wipe down the table with some lukewarm water and allow to air dry. 6. Once a month or so I would rub it in food grade mineral oil. Depending on how dry the wood was would indicate the amount of coats needed.. sometimes it would be one. Sometimes it would be three. Once done my uncle, to give me a big smile and a pat on the back and then he would dirty the thing up again. lol.

    Good morning Al. Still think one of your pig harvests, you should render up some Scrapple. BTW, my grandfather from Bridgeville DE was instrumental in developing the original scrapple recipe for Ralph and Paul Adams of the RAPA Brand scrapple company.

    It is easy to check if the eggs are too old to keep. Just put them in water, if they float chuck them, if they sink they are still good.

    Good morning Al, Gina, and Olivia. I'm so glad it's Thursday and you have a new video out. I just love to see all the animals, and follow you along as you feed them, milk them, collect the eggs, and do whatever else you are doing that day. Love the music you include in the background, too! Those cookies look yummy, Gina.
