    So you were comparing it to the curado in the video, which would you choose? Curado K or Tat 100? I’m just assuming you meant the K

      Not sure yet. Not enough time on the Tatula. It's a nicer size. But I don't know how it handles heavier applications which the Tatula is great at.

      It's smooth... But the curado is more refined. The tat does feel and sound a tad on the plasticy side. I also work jigs and some plastics one handed by flicking the drag star and I'd have liked to see a metal drag star.

    After having watched another “reviewer” last night I’d like to thank you for actually knowing what you’re talking about. Never thought I’d have to thank a reviewer for knowing the products he’s reviewing, but apparently on UA-cam with fishing reels, it’s not a prerequisite to making a review channel. They should make a certification process lol if you can’t explain how it works, what the components are and do, you can’t make a review video. But that’s just my opinion haha so thanks again I appreciate the work you put in.

Still getting used to him but I went with this real because everyone said it was a great value for the money and something I definitely would grow into. Also bought a Lews Speed 2 SPL. First of all, have to tell you I love all of your videos and in a couple of days I prolly watched 90% of your videos. Great explanations and good examples.
    Sorry for popping up just like this, but gotta ask you a question.
    I am quite an experienced in fishing but been using spin reels and rods, so gonna go for a first baitcasting combo.
    The place where I live and usually go for fishing has a a lot of pikes, down from 3lbs to Max and very rare 12lbs, and very low catch rate on bass. The baitcasting reel that I'm interesting is kastking Spartacus plus, and planing to combo it with kastking Blackhawk II. Is that a good combo considering what I'm planing of fish? The main bait I use and is very efficient here is 0.88 ounces and 5.5 inches long, but sometimes I use a bit heavier spoon type of bait. If the combo is good, which lenght and power black hawk ii rod should I go for? Thanks a lot buddy. Keep up the good work

  • @patwalker9890
    @patwalker9890 5 років тому

    Another great addition to your video lineup. I have a love-hate relationship with my Tatula type R. Like yours it casts a mile and is very smooth. BUT it breaks lines . I tried changing rods and use different types of line (flouro and mono) and after a dozen or so incidents I took it to the tackle shop. The resident expert (and accomplished tournament fisherman) told me he has heard the same thing from a few other people. After maybe 30 to 40 long casts the line breaks right at the reel spool. Maybe something defective in the T-wing? Anyway it is now a braid-only close quarters combat reel. Too bad.

    • @0riginall337
      @0riginall337 5 років тому

      Pat Walker that happens after untangling backlashes

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors 5 років тому

      The only time you can break off on the cast is if there is a nick in the levelwind and it cuts the line or there is an abrupt stop.....And generally abrupt stops aren't enough to break the line bass fishing with light gear.....so it's that mid flight jamb up that causes massive friction and causes breaking. There are tons of things that can cause that...

    • @patwalker9890
      @patwalker9890 5 років тому

      I do suspect the T-wing is my problem. No abrupt stops other than my thumb as the lure hits the water. Since this is the only reel that has ever done this in over 40 years of fishing I'd have to suspect some kind of defect. Thanks for the response. @@TackleAdvisors

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors 5 років тому +2

      Hey Bob, It's personal preference......Me personally. I want absolutely zero friction added by the tensioner....as I feel that's what the brake is for. So i set it to allow a tiny bit of side to side play...but not so sloppy as to allow it to move away from the magnetic field of the brakes. If I need friction I'll use a heavier or more oil in the bearings.....and I don't unless I'm on the field looking for hydraulic braking and need to tame a reel when pushing lead out beyond 600 feet.
      The tensioner and it's function is really no different than any other tensioner on the market.

I caught a redfish on it and it held easily. Only problem is the drag... Its hard to explain what happened. The drag like stopped having tension. I fixed it just by pulling out line using the drag for a good 10 feet of line and it works well again. Im very impressed with it. Bought it at tacklewarehouse for 120 and it didnt have tax. • @jamesbarron1202
    @jamesbarron1202 5 років тому +1

    The T wing system doesn't fit my style of fishing when im fishing with baits where sensitivity is important (worms, jigs) because I have big hands and palm the entire reel and keep my index finger under the line in front of the T wing so I get maximum feel thru the line. Doing that lifts the line into the top of the T wing and the line builds up on one side of the spool rendering the levelwind useless. I use my Tatulas for other baits where feel isn't that critical.

It's a tad larger and lacks the twing...but it's a great learning reel and one that i've recomended for a lonnnng time for those starting out. It's fairly cheap....has a brake that can help a newbie and grow with you and is a great reel for a veteran caster. Nanofil and Gliss are the two furthest casting lines on the market hands down. However in my experience they aren't very durable and knotting is an issue. I really am only confident fishing them with a leader tied using a FG or PR knot. But they fished amazingly well. They fly off the spool so effortlessly some lures that generally wouldn't tumble.....will. You truly have to adjust to how far they cast compared to other lines. I stopped using nanofil due to break offs. but still use gliss on occasion. 18lb for albies, 11 for rivers, 40 for stripers on occasion. (havent fished hitena which supposedly have some similar casting capabilities) I remember when gliss it was first announced. A publication touted it as the first fishing line made with Hemp.........And tons of other ran with that story........The idiots mis read HMPE...and others copied it...FAKE NEWS!!!!

Drop down to 20lb and do you know how to tie an ALberto knot? Here's how to tie the improved version...it's stronger than the uni and just as simple. I drop down to 10 or lower on some reels for that and I'll tie a pr knot and turn 10lb braid and even tying a polomar in 12lb leader still break at the end of the leader. As those knots are close to the 100% actual break strength of most braids. I fish by break strenght and always try to fish lines that are as thin as possible. No difference in casting distance. None. Zero. All breaks off and spool tension loose.
