      I could barely lift the next, let alone scoop up a fish with it! I think I pulled something but should recover in a few months.

    did you fish the east or west side of cedar? and i noticed you casting out towards deeper water on occasion, why was that? thanks

      We fished both side but mostlly the east side. You can;lt go wrong fishing eiter side. Up there I cast at the structure (weeds or rocks). On weed flats or weedy bays, I like to cast the opposite side that my partner is casting when the boa tis positioned such that there are weeds on both sides of the boat. I rarely cast to deep water with no structure unless I see signs of a fish like baitfish popping the surface or red tailed fish swirls.

      @@muskyjunky2039 thanks. is there a good mapchip for that lake do you know?

    • @muskyjunky2039

      I am not aware of a map chip specifically for Cedar and not sure if the Ontario Lakemaster or Navionics chips included a very accurate map. I was lucky enough to fish with my friend who had fished it many times and who created a map chip using the mapping feature on his Humminbird Helix.

    Do you like the new St Croix Grasp handle? Trying to get the 7' 10" Downsizer rod, but only available with new grip

    • @muskyjunky2039
      @muskyjunky2039  Рік тому +1

      It took a couple days to get use to the pistol grip. It was awkward at first but now it’s comfortable. I don’t really notice if big difference in fatigue but it is easier to do a one handed figure 8. If I had to choose one over the other, I’d need to flip a coin.

      @@muskyjunky2039 Thanks for the feedback! Great day on the water you guys had! I think I am gonna stick with the old style and keep my eyes peeled on the used market if someone prefers the new grip to old and decides to sell. One can hope lol

    Nice day. 52 is a true giant. Those Stow Master nets can be stressful to use. How would you rate the 1782 overall as a boat? Looking at a WT model.

      This is not my boat. I’m the ugly guy fishing from the back. It’s comfortable to fish from, got wet runnin around when it got choppy and can’t stow long rods. I run a Crestliner Fishhawk 1650.

      I had a Stowmaster about 12 year ago and the bag was deep but flimsy. When a fish rolled in the net, it took forever to get the fish and bait untangled from the net wad. I got rid of the Stowmaster and got a Beckman and love it. Other guys, like my buddy Dan who's boat we were fishing out of, replaced the original bag with a heavy, deep one. Much better for the fish, but not so much for an old guy with a bad elbow. That 52 was hooked in the gill plate and Dan had to play her lightly. Had she got off after I blew the net job, I'd probably be at the bottom of Cedar Lake right now!

      Thanks for the reply. Yeah, effing up netting a 50+ would be justifiable homicide. Lol

    It’s illegal in Canada to cast and also drag a sucker while fishing by yourself.

    • @muskyjunky2039
      @muskyjunky2039  Рік тому

      Thanks for the info. We didn’t use suckers on Cedar. The sucker fish was on the Chippewa River in Hayward, WI area prefishing before the kids arrived for the YCA youth musky hunt. I threw that clip in because I’m done fishing this year unfortunately.

    You guys need to learn how to net fish

    • @steveravely6708
      @steveravely6708 Рік тому

      I agree, the fish are getting stressed out with all the dicking around trying to get them in the net and the fish are out of the water too long.
