I completely agree with that comment about the kpop industry. Vampire Chan represents his obsession with music, the blood motif represents the craving/allure/addiction to fame, and the setting/plot represents the system that traps/encourages trainees and idols to feed off each other, use each other, and destroy each other to come out on top. I don’t think it is a coincidence that this is a solo song. This is what the dark side of Chris would look like if he didn’t have SKZ to protect, but also to keep him grounded. Dude has the talent, charisma, and connections to become an industry monster in every sense of the phrase, and he knows it.
Ok, my mv theory is: obviously he’s fighting against himself-he had a dream and the passion to go after it, to the point it consumed him and took over his everything. He NEEDED to keep going, losing sleep to work, sacrificing himself to make others happy no matter how much they stepped over him to do so, or how much he’d have to step on others to make the dreams come true. Maybe he got a bit cocky and obsessed with the success of it all/with his need to be loved and accepted by fans (the minions he’s creating in mv) and the chan at the end is him NOW-tired but accepting and telling himself to chill the fuck out and enjoy it all. Near the end, the video rewound to the beginning (2:12 of official mv), where “good but tired chan” (in white) stopped himself (the obsession fueled vampire) before he became a power hungry monster…… And he leaves him behind at the end-still alive and twitching on the floor-knowing that this darker part of himself will always be there, it will never go away. But he (good chan) will always be in control, and stronger than the insatiable desire and greed he has within himself. The prison where the mv is held is also his “mind”. The funny thing about being creative is that it feels like a desire to do crazy things and be free, chaotic, a full manifestation of yourself. The ideas come and you want to go and make them all and feed a faceless audience. The funny thing about actually creating things is it takes time, patience, study, self-discipline. You have to sit down and work sometimes what can feel like life-ending long hours for a product. You pay for it in so many ways, it exhausts you, but you can't not do it. It's a call from the void, to create. It's a constant balance between the two to create an end product. The explosion of ideas. The reigning in of those ideas. The execution of them. Release the idea. It makes waves, good or bad. Repeat the cycle. Just something to think about. 🤔
There are lots of background sounds in the video. I love the song and video was great, dark and violent. Loved it. This and Ultra are definitely my favourites.
my first watch of the mv, i was extremely confused and very shocked lol, but after watching it a few times and reading different theories, i definitely see it as him acknowledging he's obsessed with being perfect and not really caring about the damage he's doing to himself to be that, but ultimately knowing he can't keep doing that cause he won't only hurt himself but others in the process so he puts that part of him to rest at the end, the beginning also ended up showing up later in the video so it could also be like a foreshadowing of what he could become if he never slows down or it could be a cycle he gets stuck in with his obsession don't know if any of that made sense haha, but definitely a stand out mv
