@@kevintyrer45 Shaping a board is not my forte… however I would love to work with world class shapers to design boards that I think the surf community would love. I have board designs in my head… maybe some day soon we will get them built.
I've learned to surf at the age of 35 and the Hypto was the key factor in making it happen, at such an old age. Five years later and it still fun to ride and my choice when I can only carry one board. Great review!
That is so dope! I’m returning to surfing at 31 after a 10 year hiatus and JUST grabbed a Hypto as the first board I transition back down to short boards on. I grew up surfing and homeschooled my last few years of highschool so I could spend my winters on the Northshore of Oahu with my friends (I’m from town). I developed an opioid addiction after an injury at Backdoor, I strayed away from my friends and surfing. I’m now 7 years sober and im finally coming out of the bubble I’ve lived in for the last 10 years. I was a surf instructor in Waiks from 2012-2015 but the passion and desire wasn’t there so the only surfing I was doing was riding a single wave in on an 11 foot soft top at the end of each lesson. The only enjoyment I was getting from surfing was through seeing my students massive smiles riding their first waves and didn’t have the desire to go and actually surf real waves on a shortboard at my home breaks (Kewalos and Bowls). Surfing was always a part of my identity and I havent felt like myself for a long time. I’m longing to get barreled again and I know once I get the vision again, the fire will be lit again. I don’t even have to make it out, doesn’t need to be a standup 3+ second barrel, I just need that vision and the sound in my brain again… Hearing about how you’ve found the passion for surfing at 35 gives me hope that I can reignite my passion at 31 so Thankyou for sharing, it means a lot to this stranger. 👊🏾🌊🌊👊🏾
The longevity of these boards in the FF is amazing. In my old one I used FCs V2’s, which were better than my Reactors even though I can’t see any difference. Once I got H4’s I don’t change them from 1ft to overhead beachies or reef. Seeing your review I’m going to put in my MR Twinnie+trailer set, that looks fun. It doesn’t like chop, but other than that it’s a wave catching machine, & I found if I have my foot right back on the block you can really light it up. Really nice low soft rails engage beautifully.
That's awesome. Graig was a grom & learned to surf at my local break. (a river mouth in Port Elizabeth South Africa) his dad Rodney taught me Surf lifesaving. Both legends in their sport. I been shaping my own boards for a few years & I take your reviews Noel & shape my take on them. I've done 2 different hypto styles & they both fly. & a cymatic. Super fun. Both boards handle from small waves to punchy jbay. (note. I'm not out to be the n next best shaper in comp to HS or FW) I do it to help the head space relax & understand boards better.
Hands down, best review ever. I’ve been riding the Hypto for 5 years and sizing down as my surfing progressed from 6’1 to currently 5’8 while riding 5’10 most of the time. I’m 44 years old 5’8 and 74 kg. I did surfed the Hypto in all kind of conditions from barrelling double overhead to knee high. And I do 100% agree with the fins recommendations. On big surf I do feel comfy with the HS large trustee. Below shoulder high, I switch the rear fin with a stabiliser and it works magic. Thanks mate for the confirmation
I’m 6ft 170 and riding a 5’8” Hypto at 31 liters and I’m a intermediate surfer. I ride as a quad with the HS1 fins and the HS quad trailers. Board goes great 💯. Thank you for the review.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 I felt a Hypto up the other day and for what the liters of volume said, it felt smaller to me, do you think it is because the rail is lower it could seem like less? great reviews, keep them coming
Thanks Noel, your reviews are invaluable. I’ve owned my Hypto since ‘15 and surf it at Ocean Beach, SF. You have the review nailed as always. I have noticed on a wind/surface chop day it is not my go to. Like it on clean Fall days at the Beach, 4-7. So appreciative, thanks brother!
@@surfnshowreviews7777 I'm just glad you review older board models. I only buy boards that have NOEL's seal of approval. Well except for the Chumlee. LOL. Take it easy. Aloha
Hello Noel, your assumption of having to have your front foot foward is not swing weight or volume, but dynamic lift caused by surface distribution. Even thow it is a 5´4´´ a lot of surface is on front part of a forward wide point board meaning, it´s lift is generated more forward of board. There is something like a physical general point of lift in a board which can be calculated. To be able to flatten the board- to create speed by reducing drag caused by angle of attack of waterflow- you have to have your front foot in front of general point of lift, meaning front foot more forward, like on Hypto Krypto more forward because of area forward. Largest lift is create mainly by angle of attack of waterflow, this is why rocker is the most important factor in a shape, and too much makes the board slow due to massive drag/ressistance. 2. largest source of lift is dynamic lift by surface area, which creates also drag due to friction but not as much as angle of attack, this is why surfboard ends are tappered, to reduce lift at the ends making control of lift possible by placing general point of lift always between your feet. 3. source of lift is volume/bouyancy, but this is minimal lift in comparision to lift of angle of attack or even surface area. Think of a waterski, kiteboard or skimboard, these have virtually no bouyancy but will lift you up onto waters surface easily when a certain speed is obtained. The Ando board had more volume, but the volume seems to be moved also more to rails making boxier ones. Once again more surface area- in rails vertical area- give more lift/float helping you with speed generating and smoothness in waves, especially weaker/smaller ones. Hope this text is understundable, because i´m not a native english speaker. Keep up the good work.
Good job Noel! Surprised you didn’t mention quad rears placement. Hayden puts them much closer to the stringer then anyone else I know. Feels like this gives his boards (all quads I tried, not just Hypto) the stability and ease of turn initiation of a thruster without the added drag of the center fin. Hypto is also unbelievable good with asym setup (best I found for myself is AM twin on the toe side and HS side and quad rear on the heel side)
Thanks Noel! Hope you get to ride more Hayden's boards, like relatively new Loot, that seems to combine the fishy nose of the Hypto with the diamond tail of the Plunder. I find the way Hayden places quad rears gives his boards really unique feel. While most (if not all) other shapers place rears closer to the rail, which to me makes those boards feel like more stable twins, Hayden's boards, with rears much closer to the center line, feel more like faster and more playful thrusters.
@@nduich , for sure. I’d expect it to be rather stiff though, as Machado sides are quite big, almost as big as some other twins are; plus they are solid fiberglass. I like Machado rear quads though, as they’re small and have flat foils, thus IMHO perfectly complement large sides (my favorite combo is FCS large H4 and Machado rears). I haven’t actually ridden Hypto with Machado quads, as my Hypto has futures boxes and I only have FCS II Machado quad rears, but out of all fin combos I tried on my Hypto it seems to be working best with smaller side fins and larger rears (like HS rears or 4.15 QD), as it already has a pretty long rail line and doesn’t need much fin surface for control. That’s also the reason I prefer AM twin in my asym setup, as it’s more upright and has shorter base than, let’s say T1, which helps a bit with turning, while still giving enough lift and drive.
My Hypto changed my game. It really is a one-board quiver. I use it on everything (and don't even change the fins) . I've never had a pintail before and love it.
While being nice. You're not going to have the same top to bottom turns or full vertical turns on something with less volume in the nose and width. Don't get me wrong I love the pulled in tail but this board is about increasing your wave count.
@@ncncam23 You're right. Since my comment, I've been riding a more 'performance" type board and my turns are more tight, precise and dynamic. The Hypto got me through an intermediate period of surfing where I really needed to learn by getting a bunch of waves, but now that I'm out in the water more (with more experience under my belt) I can still get the same amount of waves with more performance on less liters.
SURF SMALLER FINS! If you want more speed and release especially with the hk use the F4 fins. If you have the older original F4s They work extremely well in the smaller boards on up. I highly suggest a black stix F4 they are awesome and the EA black stix Are some of my favorite fins period for release of the bottom and turns. These fins will change your game completely. Get rid of your large fins and I’m 6 foot 4 to 225. Unless you’re surfing huge reef break or big bumpy waves.
I’m a big guy (6’3” - 230lbs) and I struggle to find boards that fit me, I ended up getting a 6’8”. Based on your review I also bought a set of MR twin + trailer fins, took a minute to get used to but you weren’t lying when you said “next level fun”… I tested as a thruster and I came out to the beach immediately and put the 2+1 set back on. This board has helped me to progress my surfing so much…. Took it to a trip in El Salvador and was stoked the entire time!!! Thanks for the review
You can tell a board has that x-factor when Noel is drifting the tail a bit more and reversing out of carves. Well done Noel! Also, I like the future blackstix in my PE hypto for generating speed and freeing up the tail. I have a one-turn wave riding my hypto on my channel if anyone is interested
Best board I've ever had and I've had many. My favorite set up is CI twin with trailer, followed by the Ando fins when waves get bigger. From outer banks barrels , to small blown out local beach break, to overhead Mexican points. This board is always my best option. Funny thing is, i also had the honor of riding Craig's 5'4 about 5 years ago in Carolina Beach. Ironically, i didnt like it as much as my 5'4 (mine is the one with less volume, like Noel's). At 155 lbs, i just couldn't engage the rails of Craig's, while mine would engage perfectly. Craig's almost felt like it was too high in the water, i even had a hard time catching waves, as the board would stay above the lip and not part water enough to let me in the wave. I didn't have that problem with the lesser volume one. Either way, so glad to see both boards reviewed, especially liked seeing the twin with trailer option which is a less common way of riding the hypto. This is in my opinion, the best surfboard ever made. Mine is about 5 years old and going super strong, although pretty yellowed out. I'm riding that thing until it breaks, then going right back and getting another one. Thank you, this review has been a long time coming!
@@vznquest I've ridden mostly everything since the 1980s (I'm almost 50 yrs old, surfing since 83). From the high volume thrusters of the 80s, through many 90s style hyper rockered thin shortboards to the higher volume shortboards of the mid 2000s until now. I currently have a hayden lovebuzz as well as a pyzel ghost in my quiver, as well as the hypto.
@@chrisoneill1991 i love the ghost. It surfs like the hypto a bit, but at 6' vs. my 5'4 hypto, it has more drive, but also more swing weight. It does allow me to get in a good bit earlier than the hypto, helping make sections and drops when it's big. I have also surfed it in waist high days and it was surprisingly good off the top. Similar to the hypto, with the forward wide point, just about 20 percent slower on transitioning from bottom turn to top turn and less snappy, although more powerful. I'd say the ghost is more of a hypto step up then the actual Hayden hypto step up. Def recommend it, especially as an addition to the hypto for a good two board quiver!
Hi Cesar nioce to know your experience with the HK. I m deciding between a 6´0 and a 6´2 : I m a begginer passing to intermediate surfer (5´9 and 170 lbs) , surfing 3 to 4 times a week. Can you recomend me what size to buy?
You got some +5 magic bonus from riding Craigs board. You could see it from the first wave with it. I remember the first time I rode Paulo Prietto's board at firing wedge. There's something else there when you get on it, like there was a strand of magical unicorn hair glassed into the board giving the board extra spark haha
Fantastic and honest review Noel! As @BRADEN BADUA says in another comment, I also highly appreciate you reviewing old models. There's a few worth it imo. CI Biscuit, Robber/MTF come to mind...also Lost Rocket (original shape) and their original Puddle Jumper, as well as some Pukas models.
I just grabbed my second DHD Phoenix, first board was stock, just ordered a custom swallow with quads….and the thing is on fire in shitty surf. Everyday thruster, quads and the 2 +1 set up is all $$$$
Captain fin co 2+1 makes this board fast and hold rail like nothing I've ever felt. Great review! Would love to see what you think of it in a barrell or big point break
@3.30 mins. Two inches from slicing that kids scull open. I am really surprised that more people don't accidentally receive or cause serious injuries with the nose or fins.
Thinking about getting a hk or a rnf96. Found both in the same dims and same price but not sure what to go for. I surf mostly beach and some reef in SD
Craig's board really made this special, so cool. Going to try the twin trailer now! The rolled vee entry makes this board so forgiving especially when waves are heavy. Best one board quiver.
@@SanookDap totally, it makes the take off sooo easy compared to any other board I've ridden. It somehow sucks to the face of the wave on the drop and propels down the wave face. It almost feels like the board is doing all the work and you're along for the ride. And then it's so fast down the line especially when waves are hollow and quick. It's almost impossible to pearl or catch a rail. I think the secret is Hayden's rolled vee entry. I don't see other boards with that. I gained so much confidence in heavy sketchy waves on the hypto. I'm 5'10 and 67 kilos and ride the 5'6 at 28.3 liters. I tried the 5'8 at 31 liters and I felt like I got held up in the lip with the extra volume and it was much more difficult to go vertical with the extra length. I really want to try the 5'4 at the 2&3/8 thickness, I think I'd get even more performance with the shorter length. But I improved so much on the 5'6. Currently I'm hooked on the TOMO Evo at 5'0 23 liters, which feels amazing, but the hypto is smoother rail to rail and take off is wayy easier when it's big and heavy. Tomo just has an extra level of spark off the bottom turn and the top that is exciting. But if I was going to surf drunk I'd choose the hypto!
I have both models, the one with three fins and the one with five fins, and I prefer the model with three fins. I can't determine why, maybe because the five-fin model weighs more, I don't know if it's because it has five pockets or because it has more resin as a whole and because, in addition to all that, it's painted blue. My first of three fins is not painted. I feel like the 5 fin surfboard is the clumsy brother of the 3 fin surfboard, even with the heavy use I've given the 3 fin board over the years. It's as if the five fin board was about to take off but didn't. I usually use two fins, and exceptionally I put the rear one, or failing that, instead of using three fins, I use two FK2 to draw long turns with great stability. Definitely, I would always stay with the original hypto crypto, with only three fins and lighter, more explosive, easier to do whatever comes to mind.
There's a reason why it's one of the most popular boards in the world. Can be ridden short or long depending on age / ability and wave type. For me it's like having training wheels and I ride it 6'4" when ive been out of the water and lost fitness. Hayden has said it's supposed to be ridden as a thruster and only added 5 fin option reluctantly because people kept asking for it. I don't like it as 2+1 when riding the 6'4", it needs a swallow tail in that confuguration but I bet it works well when ridden much shorter.
Hi Noel, thanks for your reviews and tips&tricks, helping a lot here. Where I live we can only get the hs boards which are made in Thailand. What do you recon about the comparing the quality of OZ/US made and Cobra made? It’s maybe a general question as so many boards, so many technologies come from there... Thanks for your time
No need for a stomp pad on this board, #rawdogornahdawg… A lot of people hate on the hypto but I absolutely love mine. The future flex is very strong too. I can’t believe how well it performs on steep punchy beach breaks. I think the board loves a 6-8 foot beach break or reef break… it takes Late drops, and has excellent paddle power. I did noticed it doesn’t like too do top to bottom surfing (aggressive surfing) But It is fits my style of long carves and flying down the line. If you watch Craig’s hypto video, he isn’t really doing aggressive turns. He does very long pumps and generates speed, and then he does a sweet elongated turn. I think that’s why it’s my favorite board, but then again.. I’m not an aggressive surfer.
@@charlesnetzler2262 Because it's built start to finish in a factory in Thailand (like Firewire). Outsourcing the manufacturing is cost effective and helped him build a huge brand at scale, but surfing is unique in having equipment hand built by surfers for surfers. We like that connection with surfer board builders. Hayden lost some of that credibility and artistry by opting for a Thai factory. Doesn't mean the boards don't work great, as this review shows.
Hi Noel. First i would like to wish you (all of us) a happy New an better surfing year!!. What about the hipto kripto twin?? I have seen in some tutorials that you already have one and i would like to see a review or you comments in this New model. Thanks
Here are some liter ranges at different skill levels for your weight. Pro/Expert = 31-33L Advanced = 33-35L Intermediate = 36-38L If you are intermediate and you like your boards responsive then go 35-37L. If your waves are mushy then go 36-38L
Did the original Hypto have different dimensions? Seems like the new ones have less volume? I used to ride a 5’10 and could have sworn it was 35-36 liters, now I see the 5’10 is 33? Anyone know?
I just picked up an old beater krypto. Love it! I want to buy those Aipa fins but mine is fcs fins. The ones you are on are futures. Do you know if the fcs and future aipa twin + trailer templates are the same?? They look a little different. Thanks!!!
Top shelf reviews, Noel! Any plan on reviewing the Hayden Shape Hypto Krypto Twin?? I just got one and love it frontside, but can’t quite figure it out backside and what fins work best. Be cool to get your take on it!
I appreciate your board reviews, Noel. Always very insightful. I have been surfing on my Hypto since around one year as a thruster with HS1 fins. I am 195 lbs and surf a 6’2; I am very intrigued about the twin + trailer set up. Wondering if anyone has recommendation which futures i shall look at. The Akila fins appear to be for smaller guys only. Thanks
Hi Noel, Do you have any other recommendation? Apparently the T2s are not being produced anymore. I spoke to the guys at Futures the other day if they can put in an extra order, but that won’t be possible any time soon. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Quick question Noel. What do you think of Futureflex for a mini step up? Stick to PU for 4-8ft or get a slightly heavier epoxy glass job on the Futureflex?
Hi Noel! I bought this board because of your review thanks! I got a 5’8 at 31L and I’m 5’7, 68kg. A couple years later, I bought a 5’4 at 26.4L….i ride lower volume now based on your advice a few years ago :) I rarely ride my 5’8 now. My question is whether I should sell my 5’8 or does it have its purpose - say as a step up in bigger waves? Would this type of board be suitable as a step up or not really? Thanks!
You could use it as a step up for sure. That board would not be my first choice for a step up though. I suggest the Ghost as a step up. Easy to shred and it paddles great too.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Oh interesting . ..OK, every knows about the ghost but I've never considered it. I'll check out your review on it! :D So do you think there's another purpose for the 5'8 Hypto or should I just sell it? thanks
i'm 5'8, 185 and riding a stock 5'9 Hypto at 32.3 liters. I typically surf in South Bay LA, closeout, fast sections. The board is very forgiving and I typically take it out when I need something suitable to ever-changing conditions (tide change, wind ripple, etc.). I've been surfing it as a thruster with the Hayden L fins. Any suggestions on a good 2+1 fin choice (futures)?
would it be in your top 5 boards for every day surf/conditions. what other boards would you recommend I am in the market. I had a rockit wide eps and loved it but snapped it.
Fresh water...the great lakes?. Not a criticism, but maybe you're just not surfing enough. I find, if I don't surf about 4 days a week for an extended period of time/weeks, my paddling suffers.
Good review . I thought it was a bit challenging to turn. But I got too much volume. It’s great when the waves are large and perfect but it’s also not a groveled at all. . I surf mostly junky beach break waves too often. Noel is a way better surfer than me and he got more performance out of it. I am a intermediate. I like the holy grail a good deal more - easier to maneuver but I got over 2 liters less volume on the holy grail and so it’s not apples to apples. Never surfed any 5 fins on it though
How about the T2 by Futures or MR’s in FCSII. If those seem small for you too then check out my HP Twins… they are fiberglass and a bit more surface area but I personally don’t think you need that much fin. www.shopsurfnshow.com/collections/fins/products/twin-fins-hp-twins
Hey Noel, thanks for the review. I'm trying to get a board with more paddle power than my CI Happy Everyday and thinking I'm going to get the Hypto. I'm 5'11 / 168, lower intermediate. Could you recommend size? I surf South Bay / LA.
The Hypto has been around a long time and the stock dims work good for many. I think Hayden knew what would work better for me so going thicker but not longer was the key to the custom dims. I felt like the stock 5’4” board went great too.
Noel I am 5’9, 165lb, intermediate and surf 3-4 times per week. Would you be able to recommend a size mate? Also would you prefer this or the rocket 9 wide for waves up to four feet? Brett
The Rocker Wide offers more high performance surfing in 1-4’ surf. Here are some liter ranges for your weight at different skill levels. Pro/Expert = 26-28L Advanced = 28-30L Intermediate = 31-33L
I'm looking at using this board for my step up & step down board. Would you recommend riding it 1-1.5 liters more than my standard performance board or the same liters because of the shape and relaxed rocker?
Thanks Noel, A much anticipated review and well worth the wait.. You looked great on that board even though you weren't going vertical.. Was that due to the waves or the board I wonder? Either way it looked fast and flowing.. Beautiful footage. Better to go with the 5 fin or the three box model? I know Hayden likes it as a thruster and the twin +1 looked loose and fun. I was just wondering how the different placement of the front fins felt on the 5 fin vs. the thruster setup? Could you feel anything difference there. It's only an 1/8 of an inch but you never know how that could change things. The added fin boxes could change the flex as well. Just wondering which you preferred or would recommend (3 or 5)? p.s. I too would like to see you on the Evo or even his newer version of that board. Maybe talk to Tomo and see if you could get both. They are different construction and slightly different dims.. Take care Noel.. and thank you fore the Surfskate Tutorials.. I'm getting better and I'm hoping to trek to the coast soon and see how it translates.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 and your carving looked great Noel. You had a wrap that reminded me of your Seaside footage. It would be great to see you surf that thing on an 8 foot day. Thanks for the input. Stay Stoked for Life and have a great day.
Hi Noel, Thank you so much for your awesome reviews. I live on Oahu in Hawaii so I have access to different types of waves. That being said If you had to choose between the Firewire Cymatic or Hypto Crypto which board you choose? I plan on using this board for smaller waves with 2-6 foot faces. Thanks 🙏🏻

More related to this video, I just got a clone of the hypto from my local shaper with carbon rails and bamboo deck, in 5'8, running s-wings 2+1 and I'm having a total blast, my other boards are dry for weeks and giving me the look 🤣 Great review, amazing surf and style, thanks for you input. Love your channel !
Great review. I always was looking this board as a weird outline, but taking my attention. Would you think that might work good to ride as a twin without the trailer??
The side fin boxes might be up to far… so it might be hard to control. I say get a good set of Performance Keels and try it in 1-2’ surf. It might be super fun…
I have been surfing my hypto for a couple years now. I love the board, but as I switch between that and my summer short boards, I am starting to realize how much less maneuverability I have with the hypto. I am running a quad setup, but after watching your video, I just bought a set of the MR twin fins + trailer FCS II fins to try and liven the board up. You ran the Akila Aipa twin fins + trailer and loved it, do you think I will get a similar effect running the MR twin fins + trailer? Since you have ran both boards with a twin fin + trailer setup, which board did you find more fun, the hypto or the Lost MR Cali twin?
Hola Mr. Salas, your reviews are impeccable! having a Hypto with the 2+1 already, would it make sense to get a HS Misc or the behavior will be about the same?
If you normally surf 29-30L then yes it will work in smaller waves. If you normally ride 30-32L then I suggest going up 1 stock size and run it with my Twin + Trailer fin set up. They keep the board fast n loose with lots of drive. Check them out here… www.shopsurfnshow.com/collections/all/products/twin-fins-p-twin-1
Noel, the speed and flow of you on this board are legit, even better than the Seaside on small waves(even though it seems like you don’t like it very much 😂) Is there any difference when it comes to bottom contours between Craig’s and the stock board?
Steven, I think Noel liked it but it's not a board that fits his aggressive vertical style. I thought he looked great on it. His roundhouse turns were on point. I think he'll have a similar reaction to the Evo.. He will have fun but will be wishing for a Cymatic.

What size did you get and how heavy are you?
Been loving my Hypto for years in small surf and 100% agree the twin plus trailer is the best set up for small surf.

Very understandable.. thank you for your knowledge
Epic post... thanks for sharing
@@vladzhibak678 how do you think the machado seaside quads would run on the Hypto?
It does look really versatile. Must be nice to just grab one board knowing you can take it out in pretty much anything you throw at it
While being nice.
@@figglebop Good to hear. If you let the ocean do the work and improve your weight/paddle power, you don't have to sacrifice.
These boards are so fun and versatile. Shredding. Fits your surfing.
I have the same akila aipa fins. Immediately bought the stabilizer after watching this review!
You’re a kook
interesting take. what other shortboards have you ridden prior to this that you rate?
@@vznquest
I've ridden mostly everything since the 1980s (I'm almost 50 yrs old, surfing since 83). From the high volume thrusters of the 80s, through many 90s style hyper rockered thin shortboards to the higher volume shortboards of the mid 2000s until now. I currently have a hayden lovebuzz as well as a pyzel ghost in my quiver, as well as the hypto.
How you find the Ghost? I am looking looking for a step up and have been surfing a Krypto for years now.
Noel, apparently, your performance with quad setup was better than other !
Good job !!!

Opening sequence was dope.
Always good vibes on this channel. You also make me want to buy every board you review
Braden Badua from st.louis hights?
I just grabbed my second DHD Phoenix, first board was stock, just ordered a custom swallow with quads….and the thing is on fire in shitty surf. Everyday thruster, quads and the 2 +1 set up is all $$$$
Noel seemed to be more stoked on the Seaside. Between the Hypto Krypto or Seaside, which one would you choose?
Seaside… it carries more speed in 1-4’ surf…. However for a 1 board quiver I think the Hypto has a way better wave range in bigger surf.

Craig's board really made this special, so cool. Going to try the twin trailer now! The rolled vee entry makes this board so forgiving especially when waves are heavy. Best one board quiver.
is it a good choice for heavy, sucky waves?
Amazing review! I'll try your fav fin setup in my new HC
Amazing surf! Thank you so much!
Love mine Hypto
The best board I have ridden 👍
Some sick roundhouse “perfection” turns being thrown down here!!!💪
There's a reason why it's one of the most popular boards in the world.

Thanks for your time
My stock 5’4” Hypto was made in Thailand.. board went good and the quality seems similar to other EPS boards I’ve tested. Just saying…
Alright, thanks for your answer.
Why do people hate on it? Because it's not as aggressive as a pyzel?
@@charlesnetzler2262 Because it's built start to finish in a factory in Thailand (like Firewire). Outsourcing the manufacturing is cost effective and helped him build a huge brand at scale, but surfing is unique in having equipment hand built by surfers for surfers. We like that connection with surfer board builders. Hayden lost some of that credibility and artistry by opting for a Thai factory. Doesn't mean the boards don't work great, as this review shows.

I say 5 fin box so you have all three fin set up options. The Hypto really is designed for vertical surfing… it’s more about carving.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Cymatic
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
My friend Milo always loved the hyptocrypto when he was in college. it was the perfect board for a student to learn on. now that he has graduated he is more interested indifferent boards such as a large megafish, or perhaps a hull because everyone loves the feeling of it. he is a grate friend
I know it's been 3 years now but is it possible to have the name of the band and song of the music ?
More related to this video, I just got a clone of the hypto from my local shaper with carbon rails and bamboo deck, in 5'8, running s-wings 2+1 and I'm having a total blast, my other boards are dry for weeks and giving me the look 🤣
Great review, amazing surf and style, thanks for you input.

You will love your HK with your MR’s. I prefer the CA Twin
what about the Holy Hypto? cheers mate
@@duartesousateixeira9395 The HH is amazing… get one for sure.
Hola Mr. Salas, your reviews are impeccable! having a Hypto with the 2+1 already, would it make sense to get a HS Misc or the behavior will be about the same?
How did it ride compared to the sharpeye inferno 72?
Do you thing the 5'7 at 29.8L would work in smaller waves for a 172cm, 78kg surfer who can off the lip and carve? (No airs or 360 stuff like that)
If you normally surf 29-30L then yes it will work in smaller waves. If you normally ride 30-32L then I suggest going up 1 stock size and run it with my Twin + Trailer fin set up. They keep the board fast n loose with lots of drive. Check them out here…

Great work Noel! I'm torn between getting the Hypto or the Dominator 2. Which of the two is more stable for a guy with a slow pop up?
Hypto without a doubt
Noel, the speed and flow of you on this board are legit, even better than the Seaside on small waves(even though it seems like you don’t like it very much 😂) Is there any difference when it comes to bottom contours between Craig’s and the stock board?
They are the same from what I can tell.
Steven, I think Noel liked it but it's not a board that fits his aggressive vertical style. I thought he looked great on it. His roundhouse turns were on point. I think he'll have a similar reaction to the Evo.. He will have fun but will be wishing for a Cymatic.
Hi Brother... Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us..!.. I'm from Ecuador.. A friend offers me a HK 5.6.. I'm 5.8 and 75 kg.. Intermediate level..!. Do you think is good to progress my surfing?.. Thank you bro.. Greetings from Ecuador
What’s the volume on the 5’6” and what volume do you normally ride?
@@surfnshowreviews7777 28.6 or 28.8 I think
@@surfnshowreviews7777 I'm normally ride 30 lts
@@eliasvaldiviezodelgado6100 volume range for Pro/Expert is 26.5L-28.5L, Advanced 28.5-30.5L, Intermediate is 31-33L.
That board might be a little small for you… unless you like boards with lower volume.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thank you so much my brother.... Congratulations for your videos..! You are so professional and we need this important information and tips to progress into the surfing..! The best of the world and good vibes bro🤙🌊 Montañita - Ecuador sending hugs.
Hey Noel Great Review! You are rippin dude! I got a question. How would you compare this to the puddle jumper hp? I am a lower end intermediate starting to work on maneuvers and wanted to see what would be better for me to progress on. I am a grom and am around 5’2 100 pounds so lookin for something that could last me and also help me progress
Thanks for this review! Any recommendations on where to order boards (surf shops) in the US?
