This was an excellent introduction and I learned a lot. First couple of things, I have noticed comments regarding the sound audio. There is a problem with the sound, however, I cast the lecture from my laptop to my main television and turned the sound up. Was able to fully enjoy the lecture. In addition, I will write to the master’s seminary if they could investigate the matter to ensure that the sound is good for all the videos.
My own summary, writing from United Kingdom London, I never knew the views of the former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, further researched that he was the first Archbishop of Canterbury not appointed from within the Church of England. Moreover, I would say I fall into the complementarian camp and not the egalitarian. My heart is based on the complete words of the bible.
As young born again Christian 2014/15 and a mature adult. I was saved in my early fifties. Before, as usual I followed some of the liberal world, believed in God, celebrated Christmas, Easter. Thought I was a good person. However, unaware of sin and my lack of knowledge about the Living God. I was brought up in a Christian family went to Sunday school. At times I feel sad that all the years passed and I never knew my right hand from my left hand. But we have a God who sent his only Son. Our Lord our Saviour Jesus Christ who died for our sins (my) and brought me back from the dark to the light. Thus, I never knew the ins and out of biblical truths.
This lecture is so important for today. I do believe that schools are being targeted not to teach Creation. There is a push for climate change and the usual billion years old earth. On that note, it is good for mankind to look after God’s creation. However, so long as there are seasons God is not going to let the earth disappear under climate change.
There is also a huge debate with gender and at times I feel that laws are being changed to please man on earth ways and not God ways. Women are very important in the bible. We have Eve, Ruth, Sarah, Mary (mother of Jesus), Hagar, Hannah, Moses’s mother and stepmother, John the Baptist mother, Esther, Deborah and so much more. All had a role to play and still relevant to learn from today. Sunday school teachers (Women) teaching future, vicars, pasters. Youth worker. These roles are key in keeping a society that is based on God’s authority.
I am still learning and aware that as a young Christian I need to be careful in terms of what I read. Thus, I stick close to the Lord, with prayers and guidance. At this stage, I do not buy into the liberal way of thinking.
I am looking forward to the rest of the lecture.

From the dates that Dr. Wayne Grudem is giving, particularly the ordination of Rowan Williams archbishop of Cantebury, this would date this to the year 2002. Do you have any updated informtion on the state of evangelical denominations on the issue of egalitarian feminist views?

I have a relative with concerns in this area and really hoped to gain useful information from this series. Sadly, the audio is a disaster.😥

For me the quality of audio on my Windows PC varies widely. If endeavoring to listen with highest quality Plantronics mono headset the sound quality is hopeless whatever the volume settings. However, played through my speakers volume is crisp and clear - can even hear the questions raised from the audience. An excellent resource well worth listening to!

This may sound like a strange statement given the subject matter, but I think this is an area that would be especially helpful to Christian women in their ministry to other women. I realize this lecture was delivered at a seminary (I didn't see any women in the audience), but as a Christian woman I almost felt akin to one of the female Muslim college students you see on TV, who has to attend classes by a gifted professor & scholar (as Grudem is) via closed circuit TV. I had to wonder how these students, who follow a Master who praised a woman for "choosing the better part" in sitting at His feet and learning, would have reacted to a woman being in the lectures? Would they have felt threatened? If we're expecting women to have a real, serious ministry to other women, and entrusting our children to their teaching, then those women need to be feeding on the meat of the word so that they can then explain it, not the fluffy "devotional" gobbledygook that seems to pervade so many Christian "Bible Studies." But these are just my musings.

Recovering From Biblical Manhood and Womanhood makes the same point. Why aren’t women encouraged to study Scripture seriously and delve into commentaries?

Dr Gruden addresses this matter early during the start of lecture part 2 (women/audience).

Respectfully, I was disappointed that this introductory lecture from the "Biblical Theology of Manhood and Womanhood" series spends the majority of its time listing which organizations believe each view and why, rather than beginning with the foundation of Scripture. Because of this, it comes across as judgmental and not fully understanding the other sides' viewpoints. There seems also to be an attitude that no egalitarians make the decision to be egalitarians based on Scripture, and looking down on the entire position by saying no egalitarians rightly value Scripture. I think the lecture series would come across better if this particular lecture was later in the series. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series! Thank you, The Master's Seminary, for posting these videos.

It was interesting for me to hear the range of organisations believes and views. I think this was planned to build the foundation for the lecture. I was pleased to hear how it took a while to bring back some churches to the biblical truth.

So sad to see such a misinterpretation of scripture and the intentions of God for how men and women should function. How many people have rejected Christ because of such a perspective? I pray that the Lord finds and keeps them.
