What do you think of Magnus Carlsen's queen sacrifice from this game? And do you guys have any suggestions for how I can make these videos better? I'm open to suggestions and I read all the comments I can!
@@Klementhor Rxg7+ is not necessary .. what about Qe5 threatening mate and if a1=Q then Rxg7+ wins quickly, and Qe4+ doesn't work because after exchanging Q's the rook has time to get back and win the a-pawn = win for white. So there must be some "explanation" for the 0.0 eval bar as it's not 0.0 !!!! Nice video btw.
No NO NO .. I'm wrong .. I just put it into fishy and it is 0.0 - I'd missed that the discovered check had to be a double check or lose the Q so Qe5 is not the best line but as suggested above Rxg7+ is the best leading to a perpetual.
Great game and nice commentary, Dr. Mike! Yes, white was definitely winning after the queen sacrifice on g8. But it would have been nice if you had gone through a few more moves just to show exactly how black had no realistic counterplay whatsoever, even after a2-a1/Q. And finally, I don't think that Magnus' ending queen sacrifice was the only way to win the game. Unless I'm missing something, he could have just as well FORCED a rook exchange with Rd8 which would have automatically given Magnus a 2nd queen on the board. What are your thoughts on this?
Yes I should have explained that better, thanks for pointing that out! I will make sure I go into more detail if there is a crazy finish like this in the future! 👍
I wish you had talked about how the evaluation bar went even after that queen sacrifice.. wondering what levon could have done or if that was just the end of the game and it reset to baseline. Yea, that’s maybe what happened. 😅
Maybe the host can explain why the queen sacrifice doesn't work. I would have followed up the queen sacrifice with rook d8 so after the king moves and then I queen, I have the rook and queen on the same rank for an attack after black makes his second queen. But I don't know if that's good.
I'm not seeing how Qxg8+ was a winning move. What's the follow up after Kxg8, e8=Q+, Kh7? Rxg7+? That seems to lead to a draw. Instead of Qxg8+, Rd8 seems to retrain the advantage.
Qg8 was a blunder. Rd8 wins, threat is check mate, and if rxd8, you take with pawn and promote to queen. In that position, a series of checks lead to mate by white. Carlsen threw game away. That was jaw-dropping!!
Guessing there was some time pressure involved and Aronian might have lost on time? As others pointed out, the queen sac doesn't work and blunders the game to a draw - KxQ, promo, Kh7 and there is no longer a win. Whereas Rd8 instead of the queen sac would have won it. The bar agrees.
Wait! Wait! Wait! Humor me here: If dude takes Carlsen's queen and Carlsen promotes, why doesn't dude move his king to H7? Carlson does not get an immediate check - unless he wants to lose his castle. Then it gives dude space to promote his pawn to a second queen. What am I missing?
What am I missing? QxR KxQ, e8=Q Kh7 after that no further immediate checks on next move - UNLESS white gives up the rook with Rxg7 KxR, but with white only left with a queen that only leads to a draw by repeated checks. If no rook sacrifice then black next move: white ?? a1=Q and holds? Alternatively QxR KxR, Rd8 check Kh7, e8=Q a1=Q, Qh8 Kg6 again no more immediate checks by white and black's two queens should hold versus white's queen plus rook. But the eval bar showed white winning before the last white queen sacrifice... so what was the winning more? Did it involve somehow getting to a position to promote the other blocked pawn too?
@Dr.MikeChess, very disrespectful, you called my favorite chess player a goat???? Let's set up a boxing match so you stop talking crap about Magnum Magnus

@@drmikechess stop saying their name every time! Especially their full name! Can’t tell you how annoying that was to sit through
Saying the full name is fine.
best white can do is draw after king x queen
y does resign by aronian?
@@roamin_candle743 Ok you want me to say "White" and "Black"? that is less annoying? I'm open to suggestions!
why does the eval bar go to even after the queen sac?
I have the same question, is the end position actually a draw??
No, its a dead loss. I think it jumped to even because he hit the resign button. Just a guess tho@4thphaseofmalaise
@@4thphaseofmalaise I checked, it's a draw with ...Kxg8, e8Q+, Kh7, Rxg7+, and the queen keeps checking. I guess Aronian ran out of time.

Why is everyones comments so critical of your videos Dr. Mike. Your videos are awsome bro!
Because Levon resigned when it was a Draw.
Thanks brother!
Why did he resign? He could have played A1
Yea, i’m confused. Eval bar went even at the end. 🤨
He could have two queens also
@@ronaldodin4202 yep. Wish he had explained! :)
it's check!
Yes but you take by the king on g8

M had probably calculated the forced (?) mate and didn't bother with any other flourishes.
but I'm wrong - there is no forced mate after the sac

@@tensor131 Well, maybe there was no immediate forced mate after the sac...but it was definitely a forced win!
Might have to create the “On the Board” drinking game.
Sorry bro I will say that less often going forward, I am still working on improving my commentary!
I like your narrative style. Similar to a sports broadcaster.
That is what I am going for! Thank you!
Not just STUNNED but SHOCKED Aronian as well 😂

The last move is not a brilliancy. It is a blunder. Turns a win into a draw...
Great commentary ❤ well done!

Sometimes I wonder if the title grandmaster is not an exaggeration.
Please get a new mic or adjust something. Otherwise nice.
Why is qxg8 brilliant? Eval bar indicates it was a blunder. What are the next moves after black king hides of h7?
What am I missing? QxR KxQ, e8=Q Kh7 after that no further immediate checks on next move - UNLESS white gives up the rook with Rxg7 KxR, but with white only left with a queen that only leads to a draw by repeated checks. Or, instead of a1=q, qe4(ck). After any move, qxc6
This is when the rook sac hasn’t happened
Rd8😊
@ now I see a1=q. If e8=q, c6xe8
best white can do is draw after king x queen
Jaw-dropping? perhaps for someone rated 600
11:17 why not Rc7x?
Looks like Levon resigned prematurely. Perhaps he was low on time. The final position leads to a draw, owing to the threat of ...a1=Q.
This guy can't play chess at all. After Queen "sacrifice" exactly 0.00. If white moves Rd8 checkmate after 15 moves. this channel is for weak players
Rd8
It's a draw
