Wade - If you made a video when you tested these I’d appreciate a link to it. I’ve been watching for it and may have overlooked it. We appreciate your efforts!
The fact is there are infinite loads that can be done. I would suggest starting with the oldest video on this channel first and then work your way through to the present and jot down the ones you want to try. Makes for some good binge watching.
Wade, we can’t use buckshot for hunting in New York but we use it in 3 gun competition and defense. As you mention, most powders are hard to find or over priced. I am lucky to have 2 big jugs of 800X I use for my high power hunting rounds. So I enjoy seeing you use it in your reloads. I find the patterning at the range most entertaining and informative! Any 12 or 20 ga reloading of shot loads using 800X is appreciated! The 800X also works great in steel shot hunting loads! Thanks!
This helped a lot. As you stated im very new to shotshell loading. 4 buck is what i use primarily for home/property defense. My goal must be all pellets in the chest area of the target at 25 yards. I do have a bit of blue dot that i will use for each of these loads you demonstrated. i will drop the charge a grain or two from the one blue dot loads you put together. Keep up the good work. Im going to look and see if you have a vid in this format for 2.75 00buck.
Save the Blue Dot for heavy 1 1/2 Oz loads. And your goal as paterning should be 3 pellets(If bigger better, try #0 or #1 with wads) in the boiler room at your max range(about 50 yds), depending on gun and choke. Made my fixed choke upland U/O from a 25 yds deer gun to 40 Yds.handloading Extra pellets in the patern a bonus. If you hit something with 3 or 10 pellets( over kill) its going down.
I always look forward to your vidios. And very well explained, backed up by photos. While I don't hunt I enjoy making up buckshot and roundball for close in shooting. I use either the DSG or LBC slugs to show other shooters that a smoothbore can reach out to 100 with good stuff. And you show loads with components that are usually available so we can actually make some up.
The remington 3 buck 20 gauge rounds also mic'd out to about 24 cal. So if you're trying to duplicate their factory 20 pellet 3 buck, standard 24 cal 4 buck is actually the correct size.
We are not allowed to use anything smaller than #1 b for deer but for coyote and jack rabbits and other pests 4 b .was great on geese when lead was legal on modified choke and a good flight control wad or a steel shot wad is deadly at long range .
I enjoy the videos you make. Got a video on troubleshooting a MEC 600 jr? i got crimp problems, the center looks great but outer edge lip makes for a tight fit, they dont drop in the bore. Using new cheddite shells.

Hello Mr. Bubba. Im new to shot shell loading and have a question. Like many folks i need to use what i have on hand. I have quite a few sterling and s&b hulls that i wish to load. My question is this: how do you know if the cases are straight or tapered type's?
hey Jon, the simplest answer is this: the only tapered hulls out there are Remington & the Winchester AA's. Pretty well all others are straight-walled! This video will help also: ua-cam.com/video/4ezCOIj73wE/v-deo.html
Hey Wade, Love your videos and all the hard work you put in them. Do you have any steel loads worked up for goose and duck hunting in both 2¾" & 3" shells?
Good videos. If you haven't already done so I was wondering why you don't try the 10 gauge. Massive firepower with the Browning pump or the Remington SP10 and others. You always seem to pursue the ultimate 12ga load and you might find that no 12ga load will do what a 10ga 3 1/2 will do. More pellets down range and less recoil than the shoulder killer 12ga 3 1/2. Just an idea for you to try and test.
I personally see absolutely zero valid reason to switch from 12g..commonality, audience, whole new everything..I wouldn't, or aren't I guess I mean, gun ect..no most every 12g load we put together will take anything on the continent..
I found a guy that sells something he calls a penny punch. It resizes the penny to 7.25 and puts a dome in it for stacking in 12 gauge shot shells for the DIY slugger community.
I have seen it on two fatter mouse, seems dumb and not to mention defacing currency. A lot of work with little benefits. Why not cast lead in sheets and stamp it out in discs, or flatten round balls in press and then turn them into a cone

@@Recargasygambiarras hi buddy! That powder is called buffer. It keeps the pellets from compressing and deforming. The patterns stay tighter at extended ranges.
Yes you can. It helps prevent powder migration too. Only thing is, it will change your column height by a little. Most wads have powder spaces in their gas seal, so your height will change by however deep the wads powder cup is and thickness of OSC used. Just something to keep in mind.
